  1. Here is my 24 year old son's current collection of Klipsch. I guess he now qualifies as a Klipsch Fanatic. The nut doesn't fall far from the tree . . .
  2. I would use a pair of K-Horns as subs for your LaScala's. They're a perfect timbre match too!
  3. Exactly what I had in mind. JC's and Bob's test box gave me the idea for what I call the CornerScala. Build a K-Horn type top hat to sit on a cornwall. Remove the K55 driver (plug horn throat) and K77 from the cab leaving behind the mid horn and woofer. (You could leave the tweeter in the cornwall, if you wanted.) Mount the K77, K55/K401, and crossover in the top hat and place it on the factory Cornwall cabinet. Advantages: Less construction time and materials Maintains factory Cornwall bass $49 for K401 plus crossover parts offer inexpensive way to get K-Horn/LaScala top end Original Cornwall can quickly be restored to oem condition without damage CornerScala tucks nicely into corner like K-Horn (higher WAF) Looks like a mini K-Horn
  4. Why, certainly, Mr. Dean! I'm going to try the HereScala as a center channel between two K-Horns with CornerScalas for rears. I need a center that is 30" high or less to fit under the theater screen. The Cornwall is 38" tall, the LaScala and Belle are 35+", all too tall. The Herescala would "stack" up as follows: 2" riser on floor (same as Cornwall riser) 15.5" Heresy cab on side 1" riser under "top hat" (same as KBWO) 11.5" top hat (same as K-Horn) 30" total height and perfect timbre match (I hope). This should also sound good as center channel in 3 channel stereo.
  5. Hi JC, My plan is to lay the Heresy on its side on a 2" riser off the floor like the Cornwall. Leave the mid horn in the cabinet but remove the K-55 driver and the K-77 tweet. Plug the mid horn and tweeter opening to seal the box. The 'top hat' would sit on a 1" riser like the K-Horn and would house the crossover, K-401/K55, and the K-77. You could build these with a triangle back to sit in the corner or a square back to sit against the wall. The Heresys can always be returned to heritage stock. Take the drawing you made and rotate it 90 degrees. I'm going to do something similar to Cornwalls with a "Top Hat" to make CornerScalas. They will look like mini K'Horns in the corners. JC, what drawing program are you using?? Thanks, Bill
  6. Thanks, Al!! Is there a look-up table for this info? How are the various capacitor/inductor values determined? Thanks again!!
  7. The CornScala plans gave me the idea to modify a Heresy (type I) for center channel by buying the K-401 and mounting it in a K-Horn type of "top hat" cabinet to sit on a Heresy on its side. I would move the K-77 and K-55 driver to the "top hat". How would I mod the Heresy crossover to cross the woofer/mid at 400Hz and match efficiency levels? I'm trying to come up with a short center channel between two K'Horns with Cornwalls in the rear. My thought is to build a similar "top hat" for the Cornwalls to sit in the corners and look like mini K's, kind of a "CornerScala".
  8. I'm going to build some K-Horn type "top hats" for Cornwalls to make CornerScala's. Top sections will house K-401. Anyone know of a source for high quality 3/4" veneer core, book-matched, walnut ply??
  9. Off Topic / Related Topic: TV's 1 - Where to go for the latest info on various technologies (in addition to my brothers and sisters on this, the greatest forum on the net)? 2 - What specific TV would you buy today for: (a)- smaller TV's for bedroom, etc, (- mid-size TV's for family room, etc, ©- projectors and screens for HT? Thanks for your wise counsel and opinions!! Hmmmmm, maybe Klipsch should develop a horn-loaded lens for video projection . . .the K-Beam
  10. Hi Dean, I need a pair of 13's, too. Thanks for your help with this!!! Blessings, Bill
  11. Hey, Bill, what was the total cost for the side grills for both K's and the total cost for the uppers for both? I need to do mine, too. Thanks!!
  12. Buy the K-Horns, keep the Cornwalls. Buy 2 K-401 midrange horns for the Cornwalls. Build two "top hat" type upper cabinets for the Cornwalls to match the top of the K-Horns and mount the K-401's in there with the mid drivers from inside the Cornwalls. Leave tweeter and woofer in Cornwall. Change crossover per Cornscala thread and place in corners opposite K-Horns. You will then have K-Horns and "CornerScalas". Two channel stereo, four channel stereo, or HT. You pick . . . The sound is incredible!! No sub required here . . .
  13. Teno, I don't recall that any in-wall in/ceiling speakers were specifically made to compliment the KG/KV series of the early '90's. Any timbre match is likely to be more accidental than intentional. Those little KG's were/are some pretty good sounding speakers. After all, they're Klipsch. I suggest you look for a pair of KG 2.5s to use in the front and move the little ones to hang on-wall rather than in-wall. The 2.5's are terrific and can be found fairly inexpensively. I recently bought a pair of black 2.5's in mint condition for $80 for the pair. Happy hunting . . .
  14. Gene, I have my K-Horns 26 feet apart on a long wall and sit back about 15 feet, pretty much on axis. The image scary awesome!! Give it a try . . .
  15. Hi John and Norcuron, John that is a very nice offer of transport assist!! My son lives in Portland and has oak Fortes for mains and KG2.5's for rears, so the Chorus would be a great addition for a new up-and-coming Klipsch fanatic. Norcurum, I am interested in the Chorus and am trying to contact my son now. Thanks, guys!! Bill
  16. Hi Bob, I would be interested in them for a church camp if the price is right. Do you know if they are working OK? Price? Etc. . . . Thanks, Bill
  17. Anyone know where HS-2's may be available for sale?? Thanks!
  18. Hi Mick, The Audigon K's do seem to bit a bit overpriced. OK, way overpriced. I recently picked up a pair of really nice 1989 walnut K's for $2100. I've watched ebay for some time and it seems that excellant condition K's will go for somewhere between $2000 and $2500. Prices seem to soften a bit in the summer, too, as folks are outside more. Be patient or offer him something in a lower, more reasonable price range. Remember, the hunt is half of the fun! Happy hunting, Bill
  19. Does this mean I could buy a pair of Cornwalls and a pair of K401 horns from Klipsch and have all the parts for a pair of CornScalas?
  20. Tweeters together. The top K was upside-down. Double-stacker K's were installed left and right on the stage with a wall of lights in between. LaScala's were flown at the other end of the dance floor. Bass punch was incredible!!
