  1. Thanks for the compliment, I got very lucky.` (Although my daughter is just fourteen. 5 foot 8 already and well on her way to being Daddies Worst Nightmare. I think I'm going to enroll her into a convent.)
  2. Be hard to stop your beer from freezing in your Cubs cup That's why you've got to drink fast, no sipping.
  3. -25 F. @ 5:00 am this morning while waiting for the train. That's without the windchill. Isn't someone on this forum from Aurora? I heard it was -30 there.
  4. It was fun standing out on the platform waiting for my train at 5:00 this morning.
  5. 11 am -3° F Partly Cloudy Wind Chill -30° F Winds from W 30 mph And I'm planning on firing up the Weber tonight.
  6. Great idea Jay. I would like that too.
  7. Harry, I certainly would agree with you that they will all do the job. I'm sure I don't have to tell someone with your experience that the real key is proper training and practice, practice, practice. And then practice some more. I believe comfort and familiarity with the weapon (which goes hand in hand with safety) are the most important qualities in firearms use. I shot ***** competitively starting from 11 years old. And started teaching when I was 13. To the point where I counted rounds in the tens of thousands every year. I became so familiar with my shotguns that it was if they became a part of me. Between all the cleaning and repair it got so that I could disassemble and reassemble them with my eyes closed. I know because I used to do it (of course then doing it over with my eyes open). I am convinced that this kind of familiarity with the weapon made me a better shot. I have used and owned several revolvers and pistols and I like both. But for me I am more comfortable with revolvers, perhaps because of their simplicity. Or maybe because I'm the simple one. - Jim
  8. I was wondering the same thing. A small frame Smith or the Ruger SP101 series offer the reliability and concealment. Both can be chambered in .357 which certainly offers the punch. But I have a bias towards revolvers in the first place. EDIT: Dean, I wonder if you may have opened up another subject for pages of arguement along the lines of other Klipsch forum mainstays like CD / Vinyl or SS / Tube or many of the other equipment issues (where I usually have no idea what you guys are talking about).
  9. Such sad news. This place will have a little less character without him. But if any good can be taken from this it is that OB is no longer in pain. God bless his family. And thank you for the updates Harry. - Jim
  10. This place isn't the same without him. You're in my thoughts OB.
  11. Fini,I have the 1050 trap which is a bit larger 42x10x13. I bait it with peanut butter and they can't resist it. But even though this is the biggest 2 door trap made by Havahart it is still not big enough for the larger raccoons around here (although it works great for the non Godzilla sized ones). I have watched one enter the trap and trip it, but it was so big that the door behind it couldn't close. The raccoon happily finished the peanut butter with the door resting on it's butt and then it just backed out the way it entered. They do make larger single door models though. I would caution against leaving them in the crawl space. They can do some serious destruction and damage chewing, digging, and urinating. And as Amy notes if one were to die in the house you will be sorry (not a strong enough word). Also, if you or your neighbors have dogs that are inquisitive it will not be a pretty altercation. My neighbor had one under his deck and his Jack Russell terrier got at it and kept it cornered for hours. Fearless and tenacious doesn't begin to describe this breed. It was January, late at night, and the deck was covered with ice so we couldn't unscrew the decking. The only way we could separate the two was to drill a small hole in one of the deck boards a couple feet away from them and drop a couple of firecrackers down the hole. The two of them bolted in separate directions and the raccoon hasn't dared to return. Good luck, - Jim I
  12. This might help... ignore the Cubs references (sigh). http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/t/105478.aspx
  13. Why do other countries ever mess with us? Just look at what we are capable of. http://www.mathlete.com/portfolio/wakeNbacon.php
  14. It's off to the University of Michigan with my oldest later this week. Mom has already had a couple of meltdowns so far, she will be a wreck when we have to leave Ann Arbor to return to an emptier home. He has worked hard to get to this point in his life and despite the sadness we are very excited for him. And I suppose that's what we need to concentrate on. Now it's time to work on the next one, a senior in high school.
  15. Get out of my way ya Sunday drivin' cheesehead.
  16. 2 can play at that game Amy... wait did I do this right?
  17. Actually - "Sandra" (the name on the jersey) and Sasha are fairly common male names in certain parts of the world. My point was - there is not a whole lot of figure in that figure... looks rather lacking in certain key areas of curvature, unlike the Brazilian women I have dated. Yep! You caught my typo! Sorry, it's been corrected. And you are right, her torso is a bit straight in that view, unlike some of the other ladies such as our own Walsh who has a thinner, more-defined waist. I have not traveled overseas so I've not heard of any males named "Sandra" but that doesn't surprise me much; it's a big world out there. I was just trying to have a little fun back at you which is why I included the "LOL" in my post to you: I was kidding. This whole post was supposed to be fun and I'd hoped everyone else might enjoy it and take it in that spirit. -Glenn I'm certainly enjoying it.
  18. We are a nation of sheep living in fear / we have the right, no the obligation to defend ourselves / you don't know what you would do in that situation / yes I do / this isn't the old west / hitler nazi germany / liberal elitist / limbaugh talking head / Idiocracy is upon us. The Rapture commeth. Or something like that.
