  1. Yep. My funds are stretched too. The only things I have left to do is veneer and finish, stuff it like a teddy bear, and put my top I built for it on. It's black. I'm tweaking with it now. I wish winisd would give you frequency tests between 10 and 100hz. It only goes 100 and then 10. Nothing in between. 10 just sounds like someone clapping. I will be sure to post some pictures when I'm finished. Good luck on yours. I was watching your conversation too. toodles
  2. To run a single receiver yes you will need the straps. If you are in a pinch you cant just connect them together with wire. If you are getting another power source, you can run hi's ( HF ) and mid's ( MF ) with one and the low's ( LF ) with the other. I would just strap it plug it in and hit play. [] Call Klipsch or email. They will hook you up. When I got my first set of 20's, they didn't have any. I called and they sent me two sets and an owners manual free. That was about 6 years ago. toodles
  3. Good lord. I can't wait to carry that thing to my basement. It will probably make my fish explode.
  4. It connects the mid and highs to the lows. There are two sets of binding posts on the back of the speaker. Since he doesn't have the connection anymore you need to connect the binding posts to each other ( black to black and red to red ) No big deal.
  5. I've had my first set of klf20's for a few years now. Since I got my second set a month or so ago, I feel good for lack of a better word. Finally have four. The sound just beats me from every direction. I'll be in this house at least 15 more years unless I hit the lottery, (which I don't play) so I don't need anything bigger like khorns. Not to mention, I love my neighborhood and schools. Now I can tinker with source and power. As you can see below, I don't have a great receiver or a quality dvd player. It just kind of feels like a sense of relief if that makes sense. Just wondered if anyone has ever breathed a sigh of relief when they finally get those prized speakers they have been longing for. O.K. I'm done. toodles
  6. I got divorced in 8-8-88........at 9:00am[] too bad it wasn't an hour earlier.
  7. I'll try that walmart idea. I'll have to tinker tonight to see what frequency. To guess, I would say somewhere around 60 and lower. I should have said extremely little bit of boomy. For the most part it is pretty good.
  8. Jay. Too bad you blanked out the credit card number and address. I could use a pair myself.[][] toodles
  9. Just an update. I've been real busy lately with work, kids, wife, dog, fish, blah blah. As said before, I kicked her and the kids out of the house and sanded and refinished my floors. Doing some had rails and reversing doors for an elderly couple next door. Just running myself ragged. I haven't had the time but I think for the finish I will look into a 4 x 8 sheet of whatever is prettiest veneer locally here and cover the sides. I got black grill cloth and connectors from partsexpress but I can't start on that yet because a friend of mine borrowed all three of my nailing guns for a few weeks. I should get them back this weekend maybe. I hope so, because I have baseboard all painted and ready to install. I've got one cover cut out and routered, I'm just waiting on the guns. I do have a question on the inside. What would you guys recommend using? Egg crate or a flat surfaced insulation. I would say it is a little boomy right now. Not bad, just a little. It surely does hit low. Some things I can't hear, I just feel my pant legs moving. It's amazing how much energy that arsenal 12 puts out. I've learned alot on construction. You CANNOT ignore bracing. That's alot of air moving fast and with authority. I'm torn right now on building a second different enclosure with a four sided design just to see the difference. ( use the same parts of course. ) I'm not made of money[] I will more than likely do it when the weather breaks. I have it wired for eight ohms right now because the amp can't handle 2 ohms. I haven't and won't even try. Congrats on your 5000 posts DrWho. You sure do talk alot.[] Again thanks to you and Jay for the input. Feel free to flap your lips some more. I may get an spl meter just to tinker. That seems to be a good reference for explaining sound in words. Toodles.
  10. I agree. Being calm is the hardest thing. Remember us growing up and going to bed without supper or something of that line. They'll learn. Problem is, other parents catching wind of the no supper or breakfast sticking their noses in your business. They can be relentless. " You shouldn't do that to your child. Blah Blah Blah ". Like said before, no kid has ever died of hunger from missing a meal. All our options have been taken away from us. Timeout.....Please. I wish someone would put ME in a timeout for a nap. I have a problem right now with my 12 year old boy not brushing teeth, hair, or showering. He's a stinky bumb.[] I have to tell him EVERY day to do these things. Just all of a sudden doesn't want to shower and clean up. I guess thats normal. It gets frustrating. Toodles
  11. Sounds like you have a busy time ahead of you. It must have been murder having all that stuff laying around waiting for the speakers. Congrats. toodles
  12. It's completely dry and odor free. Just like my armpits.[]
  13. Yea. I sealed it about a 3-4 weeks ago.
  14. Sub is still in the garage. The finishwork is not completed yet. That will take some time. I received my amp yesterday and temporarily bolted it in. Everything inside is sealed with silicone, no dampening material yet. The PR's, amp and driver don't have gaskets yet either. I started tinkering with it. My god! Played a few cd's. Dave Matthews sounded good. It seems to be fairly musical. Then I started hitting the dvd's. A few of the popular ones for bass. Matrix, U-571 etc. But when I put in LOTR two towers, marsh scene when the wraiths are flying over. WOW. The entire garage creeked and cried. Incredible. I like the adjustments on the amp. I can totally turn off any higher frequency. Not a peep out of it until needed. I might go to rat shack and get a meter just to see what its putting out. Thanks for all the input on this project. It was a good learning experience. I'll post some pictures as the finish work gets underway. [][H][8] toodles Bill
  15. Looks like they came out of an old barn.[]
  16. Jasonbart...why are you rating my thread poor? You make me want to cry. I spend all this time and money for a poor rating. It's not that boring is it.[:'(][|-)] toodles
  17. What it really boils down to is you are enjoying your ultra fine speakers. Nothing better. toodles
  18. This buckeye boy is watching The Cowboys tonight. toodles
  19. I looked at parts express at the bucking magnets. I sure would be interested in which one to get to help out my center channel I made out of a klf10. I'm having a real difficult time placing it since I moved my room around. Any ideas?
  20. Nah....If it is. I can build a bigger and better sub later...[] If I remember right Dr.Who and us were discussing that issue in the beginning. toodles.
  21. Finally, I can sign in. I've been off work this week refinishing my hardwood floors. Man I'm tired. Anyhow, I plugged the driver and PR's in last weekend and sealed up the opening for the amp. It does pretty good with the little receiver I used. Really made the movies open up. It sounds about as good as my KSW 200 with that little receiver pushing it. Believe it or not. But guess what....? I just got off parts express website two minutes ago and bought myself alittle Dayton 1000. I just realized they are right here in ohio with me. Should be here monday or tuesday I'm sure. Let the good times roll.[] toodles
