  1. Isn't this incorrect? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=50597&item=5786879316&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW I know that Corns changed drivers over the years but I thought that they were always 15". Is the K-22 R a Heresy driver?
  2. I am really surprised at how great the old tube FM tuners work. I have a Mcintosh MX-110 and a Telefunken preamp tuner from a very nice console and both work great. My solid state tuner was good for s/s - a Yamaha T-70 - but the tube tuners are better. I'm getting a Scott tuner and have heard that they are excellent too but haven't had the pleasure yet.
  3. Zapper, congrats on the Corn purchase. It's too bad that it was more than the $200 but I'm glad that it was still a good deal for you.
  4. I'd be leary of an amp with a blown transformer. Those are rather expensive. Maybe you ought to talk with Craig and see what he thinks/has?
  5. I'm not sure if there's a better deal out there but surely there's another deal. If anyone finds out what happened on these (ahem) $200 Cornwalls, post up.
  6. I had something like that happen to me. I was the first person to call the guy, spoke to him and made arrangements to come pick up the item the next day. He called back later saying that he had received higher offers and was giving me a chance to counter since I had called first. I didn't want to get into a bidding war but others did. He sold them for a lot more money than he was originally asking. Very disappointing but what can you do? I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you zapper!

  8. I'm with Thebes on this one. If music is your aim, it would be hard to beat a good tube set up with Heritage speakers. I have a MC-240, MX-110 and Cornwalls and they make beautiful music together! I may get a sub some day for a home theatre set-up which will be mostly separate than the two channel (share the Cornwalls). But it is true that the Cornwalls hit very deep by themselves - plenty deep for music. If this is just the start of a 5.1, 6.1, etc., Home Theatre system then I could still recommend the Cornwalls for the fronts. The Fisher 500 is huge sound for the money. Maybe you've got the space for Klipschhorns and you could have the beginnings of an ultimate two-channel system for the money you've got. I will say though that if music is your thing, you should give some tube set up a try. I had a nice solid state system and when I tried tubes, I was hooked and made the switch.
  9. Hey, but he'll ship them all the way cross country for $56.00. I'm sure that they'd be properly packed to arrive intact
  10. George Thoroughgood and the Destroyers - Bad to the Bone..and I'm drinking freezer Stoly out of a shotglass. Life is gud!
  11. From JWC I've been workin on that Tall Cornscala. Will post a possibility soon. jc HI JWC, I want you to know that your experiment/building project has been very inspirational. It's really got me to thinking about my own Cornscala. I have Cornwalls now but to join a Cornwall bass and LaScala mids/highs does sound like a little bit of heaven! I've reread this post a few times and was wondering if you had made any progress on that tall Cornscala. Sure sounds like a winner to me....although the one that you designed already is a dream. Thanks for all of the effort that you put into the design and documentation. The sharing of ideas is very cool. I'm sure that there are quite a few inspired folks out there. Thanks.

    Kp-250

Hi Olorin, I've been looking for reasonably priced Heresy's but haven't found them recently. I'm just looking for a single center channel. The Cornwall sounds great but space wise, I'm having trouble accommodating the pair of Corns...but who knows if I found that single? ) I've been surprised that I kept the Corns...but they are just too good to get rid of... It's amazing what we'll do to accommodate the right sound. ..guess I'll keep on looking.....

    Kp-250

I saw an ad for this http://www.klipsch.com/product/product.aspx?cid=466&s=specs and was wondering how it might be for a center channel for a HT system? I have Cornwalls for FL & FR and Heresy's for RL & RR. I've never heard these. Thanks for your help.
  16. Looks like you got some beautiful speakers there for a great price! If you want to get rid of those Altec 19's for $400 just give me a call

    CD recorder

I purchased a CD recorder so that I could put my albums on CD. I purchased a Phillips cdr-950 for about $100. I don't know if that's wonderful or not but that's what I did. You will need to buy cd's made to record music and not for computer recording.
  18. I hope someone in NY gets busy on that one. Sounds like a great deal. Wish it were on this coast...
  19. Thanks for all the info on commercial Heresy's.
  20. OK, probably stupid questions - Are the industrial/commercial Heresys worth more than the regular home audio versions? The cabinet on the industrial version is rather plain/not terribly attractive...so are the insides different than the home version?
  21. That's the best audio system I've ever seen in a van......but aren't you supposed to leave room for a girl in the back??? Looks like a great haul and sounds like you might have even had some fun along the way. Thanks for the pics.
  22. Any pics on the back bracing? I was just wondering about specifics since I'm mod shopping for what to do to my Corns. You know how it is.
  23. IB Slammin, do you have any more info on the side braces that you did? Thanks.
  24. efh, thanks for the info. I'm planning on the XO upgrade but I'm pretty sure that I'll do the rope caulk too. It's good to hear that it does work and that it's such an economical change.
