  1. not even a hint of HDMI in sight??? oh I own a STR-DE model as well, and emmm.. it gets the job done, but for the price, you can't ask anything more. But on the ES $1k model, you would think they would have put more component inputs in after 5 years (hell, my El Cheapo I bought in 2000 has 2-1 component switching)

    Road Trip!

just my opinion, but you don't needs specs for bragging rights, just let em bring over their bose and do a side by side comparisson.
  3. WOW, that would be a local pickup for me. Too bad I don't have any money to get them (not to mention the high reserve price). ---------------- Seller wrote: If you are in the Houston area please email me and arrange to come and listen to them ---------------- I should contatct him to get to hear em.
  4. Michael, Thanks for sharing your experience with the K-stack. You mentioned it's hard to isolate the C7 to do a proper comparison, but how does it seem with movies now? Any noticeable difference in dialogue on movies you are familiar with?
  5. Vonage has its shortcomings, but is nice overal. Are the updates the only thing you need it for? Do you know how long the updates take? I ask because the basic $15 for 500 minutes might do the trick. Have you asked them whether updates can be done via Broadband? or do you have to use dial-up?

Obviously, being an anime, it wasn't nearly as well-known to the mass public, but critics all hail it as the "Incredibles Killer." And I agree. It's an amazing movie with awesome characters, mind-bending action, constant twists and turns, an unbelievable plot, brilliant story-telling, massive machinery, insane robots, incindiary firepower, breathtaking visuals, and lush orchestration. SEE IT!!! ---------------- Although anime is not for everyone, Appleseed is and "AWESOME" movie...good pick dude.

    CD recorder

---------------- On 6/17/2005 9:59:15 AM jcmjrt wrote: You will need to buy cd's made to record music and not for computer recording. ---------------- In my experience, there is no difference between data or music blank CD's, almost all are sold with reference to recording both, and if they say "especially for music", its a marketing ploy. Smokem You will need to take your Tape output, and hook it up to your Line-in on the PC, use some nice software to rip the tracks, then burn them onto cd. Hardware for burning CD's are very abundant now-a-days, IE CD-RW, DVDRW.
  8. Right now, I have a Sony to hold me over . Actually, I bought it 4 years ago with plans to just use it while my gear was in a small room, then upgrade when moving the stuff to a bigger room and give it to my parents to replace their crappier unit (or use it as a secondary). But it seems to do ok on the KLF-20's. When I finally do move the gear to a bigger room, I will be on the prowl. I tend to agree with the comments made that you should only seek to change the Yammy if YOU don't like it. But on the flip side of that, the people who seem to be really happy with their's seem to be running Heritage speakers. Yall gotta keep in mind that on the RF-7's, the Yamaha's are "brighter" than on the other klipsch models. When I was auditioning between the KLF-20s and RF-7's I did notice the yamaha sounded brighter to me, especially on the RF's.

    Upgrade bug.

That sounds like a good plan. So, even though the F-2's are a better Timbre match to you current center, you should go ahead and start moving towards the Reference now and get the RF-25's.
  10. I would also think that putting the 20's behind you and the RS on the sides might be worth trying. You might want to switch em around and actually test to see what sounds best. BTW, owning both the 20's and the 30's is there a notable difference between the two?
  11. Firme

    Upgrade bug.

well, the RF-25 is a better speaker. If you get it, you can just get the upgrade bug again, later, and get the RC-25. I just think its not an upgrade if you don't move up from the synergy.
  12. go here: http://www.klipsch.com/product/product.aspx?cid=644 for the cut sheet, specs, and most importantly, the manual for the RS-25s. It migh be real wise to download and print the manual to have and help you. The manual has the preffered methods to your questions. You should have also have gotten the round rubber stick ons that put a bit of distance between the surround and the wall(see the images in manual for placement onto the speaker). This give it clearance for the wire, and keeps the wall and the speaker from touching and damaging each other. If you did not get these, you can pick some up practicly anywhere. Good luck

    Upgrade bug.

guess the urge is gone now? all I see is a dot I am still trying to figure out how to fund mine
  14. I own KLF-20's & KLF C-7. My 20's were the second to last pair when I bought them from Tweeter. My brother in law bought the last pair, as tweeter was bringing in and demoing the RF-7's. When My friend heard my klf's he decided to switch over to Klipsch, and he bought the Reference setup as there were no KLF's in stock. He is real happy with his RF-7s. I don't think his setup is better than mine, just subtly different, and not enough to notice unless you pay attention. I personally think the KLF's are better for my liking as I picked them over the RF-7's that were being brought in, but I would have no problem picking up a pair of RF's. I would suggest you listen to the RF7's RC7's and see if they sound better to you. Generally speaking, the KLF's have better mids, and the RF's have more defined low's, but that really depends on what's driving them. Good luck, you can't go wrong with either setup, and like someone mentioned, if the KLF's are not sounding like they used to, maybe a network refresher is in order.
  15. The sound blaster is a nice card as well, and a nice price to boot. The only thing is that it lacks a coax or optical pass through output that the Turtle Beach has, rather, it is more geared for PC DD 5.1 Speakers with its digital 2.5mm out. The type of cable you need to plug into them, would ultimately determine which one is the best fit.
  16. That is almost the EXACT situation I am facing when I move. I see my only option as rear-ceiling, as I would never try to set one surround twice the distance as the other. Before mounting ANYTHING though, I plan on testing the sound accoustics, as nothing would be worse that drilling hole and putting up mounts, only to find it sounds horrible or off. I am also going to try a set of Klipsch bookshelf's I have laying around to see if they do better from the rear-ceiling than the wide dispersion speakers.
  17. Congratulations, that sounds like a killer setup. As far as running the DVD's off of the PC, you would just need a sound card that offered an optical or coax digital S/PDIF output. There are a bunch out there to choose from, such as these, for fairly cheap http://www.turtlebeach.com/site/products/soundcards/mtgoddl/indetail.asp = $80 http://www.turtlebeach.com/site/products/soundcards/catalina/indetail.asp = $50 or http://www.turtlebeach.com/site/products/soundcards/riviera/indetail.asp = $30 Just depends on what additional features you would like.

  19. I really need to upgrade my amp oh well, even my "too crappy to mention HT amp" does a good job with the KLF-20's. I can't wait to get them in a bigger room in two months and see what they do. I just need to find a low budget used amp to drive them puppies right.

  22. There should be a Klipsch support group in Houston so we could all go listen to different types of speakers. I have yet to hear well setup Khorns
  23. Mavicator, please post you impressions after you do this. I may be in the same boat in a month when I move. I might have to mount mine from the ceiling 9' high, and angle them down.
  24. glad I did also. I am moving (5 miles down the road) in July, and the Klipsch will get a new room/home which will help me better utilize them. That got my interest peaked again on setting up my HT to get the best sound (I know I am posting that in 2ch forum ) I have spent the last couple of weeks figuring out my game plan for the setup. Its going to be difficult
  25. thanks for the advise, that is how I ended up with my Klipsch speakers to begin with. The HT store by me was trying to get me to buy BA speakers. But before I would commmit, I started trying different speakers they had (figured out how to switch amps/speakers on the switch panel myself and went at it) and was amazed at how much more robust the sound from the Klipsch was. That was when I bought my Synergys in 1999. I kept going to the HT store from time to time, and was blown away at how awesome the Legend speakers were. In 2001, I decided to upgrade to KLF-20's after listening to them mulitple time and am still happy to this day. I tried the RF-7's but still like the KLF's better. But like my passion in car's and moding them, I want to mod my Klipsch setup as well sorry for Hi jak oh and on edit, I have not had the privelage of properly hearing the Heritage speakers yet
