Oh and whoever repaired it for you, did they tell you what was wrong with it, specifically....not just this common "blown amp" that I hear people throw at PM speakers all the time.

What do you mean when you say higher frequencys? 80 hz? Thats not a very high frequency. I went for the RSW-15 over the 12, just because it mateches my rf-7's better, but the 12 AND the 15 had FANTASTIC punch. Either one, when calibrated correctly, will knock the snot out of your nose. I dunno about how they perform with those fake computer generated bass noises (for lack of a better word) that rap music employs, because they are too good for a kick bass drum and a bass guitar. But I DO know that for rock music, they are UNEQUALED for their price range.

I really must protest. I am willing to wager that not a one of you could pick out the MP3 if I played one of my finely encoded ones in a blind test against the cd. You truly WOULD have to have golden ears to claim to hear a difference, even on an unforgiving system.

The Audigy 2 ZS DOES have a digital out, so there shouldnt be a problem. It also has dolby digital decoding, so im not sure what you were trying to say erukian, or perhaps im just missing the point.

why would it matter to have a R and L sub? As far as I know, LFE does not have a left/right. They shouldnt be putting out any sound that you should be able to localize anyway. A right and left LFE out is contradictory in its own nature, because you wouldnt be able to tell which effect is coming from which subwoofer. Its much better off to have them firing at the same time, allowing you to turn their respective volumes down and still recieve better output, and with less distortion.

Haha, Ive have had that same quandy come and pass. What I decided to do was I bought 2 industrial strength magnetrons (the things that make things cook in the microwave) and mounted them at the focus of the dish, made sure they were aligned, and proceeded to fry birds at 40 paces with this thing turned on. Instant microwave gun! It soaked up TONS of power, some neighbors told me that they lost power for a bit. No joke, just try not to stand in front of it...

I actually worked there for a year back in 2001. Im not so sure they would extend you the same price, but you are most welcome to try.

Yea it was pretty bad. I actually was embarrassed for the guy when he tried to turn his up "loud" after auditioning my RF-7's to start with. Once he got around his "OMG BOSE IS SOO GOOD" mentality, he was actually pretty reasonable. It was my impression that the Bo$e people told him that this little box was competition with many leading floorstanding speakers, except there is no way that they will let you actually listen some side by side. Bottom line, if Klipsch just put an outlet next to every Bo$e store out there, I seriously think that they could run Bo$e out of business. He ended up saying he was going to return it and take some speaker advice from someone who knows a little bit about speakers, instead of the people in the bo$e store. I never talked to him to see if they let him return it or whatever went down with that. He wanted to look into some Klipsch speakers if he got it returned, but he hasnt called me for awhile. I guess his wife grounded him after she learned that he spent god knows how much money on such a peice of crap. Either that or she hates me now that he is going to have floorstanding speakers instead of a nice neat little Bo$e soundbox.

On a side note about wire, I have about 100 feet of unused cat5 cable from my networking duties and was wondering whether this is a valid option for speaker wire?

I live in Kentucky. However, the reason I can get a deal like that is because I am a repeat customer, a regular you could say. I bought a pair of RF-7's and RC-7 not long ago with that deal, but they only gave me that price because I have purchased DVD players, preamps, amps, HDTV's, and DLP projectors, not to mention numerous speakers and car audio stuff from them for years.

Why do you say "myth"? I understand what you are saying, but even for a low frequency sound, the cone will move back and forth thousands of times in the first seconds you play a note on it. Therefore, the surrounds will loosen more within the first few seconds of listening then they will within the following few years.

Travisc, speaker break-in is a myth. A sound you hear from it the first time you use it will sound EXACTLY the same after 150 hrs of use. There are several threads here that explain why. I dont understand how you can possibly think that the rsw-12 sounded more powerful than the 15, they sounded like night and day to me. The stats behind them also strongly support that the rsw-15 is alot more subwoofer than the 12.

Ironically, we did that with my set of PMU 5.1's vs the Blose. You know exactly how the results came out. He actually turned red in the face when I asked him how much the system cost him after all of our comparisons. I think he popped a vein in his forehead when I told him what I paid for the PMU's.

Actually, I have had the priveledge to see the Veyron in action. I have seen it do a sub 3 second 0-60. I have doubts that the leigenfelter vette is in the same league however.
