  1. I was transporting my Forte IIs in the back of my wife's car once and could hear a buzzing sound that drove me nuts. Found it was coming from the speakers even though they weren't hooked up to anything. One of the Klipsch employees on here had a name for the Fortes because apparently they used to do that a lot even though they weren't hooked up.
  2. I agree with you Gil. I wouldn't spend more than the $50 that I spent on the APC unit on a power conditioner/strip/etc. There's no way I would have spent the normal price of $200 on it! My main reason for getting the unit was to have protection against lightning strikes and the like for my TV and receiver.
  3. The Rotel will probably give you a little better sound quality but it doesn't look like its packed with too many features. I'd hold out for a pre-amp that has HDMI like the new one that's coming out from Emotiva. That one looks like to be a HUGE bargain as far as cost/benefits.
  4. Wow, the APC C10 in silver is on sale for $49.77 at vanns! http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/item/features/753636804/apc-c10 Regular price of $199.77! Its also at a buy-it-now on eBay for $52.99 w/free shipping. With bing.com cashback that makes it $48.75! I just bought one. Right now I have my HDTV and my receiver plugged directly into a wall outlet. I have my other devices plugged into a $5 power strip! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390075866524&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
  5. That seems like a lot of high power devices to hook up to a single power filter/outlet.
  6. Just driving the world nuts, one internet forum at a time.
  7. If you're mainly into home theater and don't mind pre-owned the Onkyo TX-SR805 can be had for $500 or less. THX Ultra2 certified, giant amplifiers, all the latest HD audio formats.
  8. Yes, and mainly because it says Monster on the box. []
  9. Driving the '97 SHO now for the winter. 87k miles on it. The '01 Mustang GT's stored for the winter with about the same mileage as the SHO. The wife's '08 Caliber has just over 20k miles on it.
  10. Wow, some pretty nice prices on amps/pre-amps, etc. from Emotiva! http://emotiva.com/shop/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=39 Seriously considering that amp! Sounds like the sale goes through December 31st or as long as they have something in stock. That's good because I have 3 bonuses at the end of each year from work and I'll know the total of them by then. Time for an upgrade!!
  11. Depending on your budget you'll get HUGE returns going with a separate pre-amp and power amp. Emotiva has an incredible following and tremendously high reputation. If you were to get their pre-amp http://emotiva.com/umc1.shtm and 7 channel power amp http://emotiva.com/umc1.shtm it'll run about $1350 with shipping. If that price is in your budget, you won't regret it. {edit}I just looked up the price of the Pioneer you referred to. Looks like $1249 is one of the lowest prices I found online. You should very seriously look into separates in that price range. As I said, you won't regret it!
  12. I've been eyeing these amps, mainly because a fellow Klipsch owner and forum member has at least one and said he was very impressed by them: http://cgi.ebay.com/YAQIN-VK-2100-Integrated-Valve-Tube-Power-Amplifier-amp_W0QQitemZ270484561553QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3efa22de91 Waste of money or??
  13. http://cgi.ebay.com/YAQIN-VK-2100-Integrated-Valve-Tube-Power-Amplifier-amp_W0QQitemZ270484561553QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3efa22de91 Local Klipsch owner who I met briefly has at least one of them and he seemed pretty impressed by them. Thoughts?
  14. Check the wires to that speaker to make sure the + and - haven't been reversed. That will cause the problem you're describing.
  15. Don't forget that you can sign up for a free Microsoft bing.com account and get 8% cashback on all eBay buy-it-now purchases paid with PayPal!
  16. Didn't you already start a thread about this? [] I'd stick with the first idea. Check around online for deals on what you're looking for. You might have to buy the center from here, bookshelves from there, etc. but you can probably save a decent amount of coin doing that. For example, vanns.com has the Sub-12 for 314.89 in their clearance center: http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/item/clearance/549499974/klipsch-sub12 RB-61s on eBay for $300 buy-it-now: http://cgi.ebay.com/KLIPSCH-RB-61-BOOKSHELF-SPEAKERS-PAIR-RB61_W0QQitemZ120492471826QQcmdZViewItemQQptZSpeakers_Subwoofers?hash=item1c0de93612 RC-62 on eBay for $315 buy-it-now: http://cgi.ebay.com/Klipsch-RC-62-MINT-MINT-MINT_W0QQitemZ200405277053QQcmdZViewItemQQptZSpeakers_Subwoofers?hash=item2ea915d97d RB-51s on eBay for $298.69 buy-it-now: http://cgi.ebay.com/Klipsch-RB-51-Bookshelf-Speakers-PAIR-BLACK-NEW_W0QQitemZ180422348698QQcmdZViewItemQQptZSpeakers_Subwoofers?hash=item2a02028f9a RS-42s on eBay for $404.99 buy-it-now: http://cgi.ebay.com/KLIPSCH-RS-42-Surround-Sound-Speakers-RS42-NEW-PAIR_W0QQitemZ350242036206QQcmdZViewItemQQptZSpeakers_Subwoofers?hash=item518c0d59ee That puts you at about $1635 plus a little bit for shipping for a couple of the items. Oh, and when it comes time for audio/video cables, http://www.monoprice.com is your friend!
  17. Name doesn't ring a bell, does he go by a different name on the forum? Either way, hoping for a fast recovery!
  18. The Klipsch Sub-12 can be found pre-owned for around $250.
  19. You should be able to change different surround formats on your receiver while listening to your source. Also, make sure your Blu-Ray player's audio output is set to "Bitstream" and not "PCM" or anything like that.
  20. Hi John and welcome to the forums! The system you're suggesting sounds nice, although its going to be in a pretty large room. You might consider the RB-81s for fronts and RB-61s for rears along with the other speakers you've listed. Don't skimp on the sub, either. Klipsch designs their speakers to provide a very dynamic, 'live' sound. They are some of the most efficient speakers available too, resulting in higher output with fewer watts needed from an amplifier/receiver.
  21. Easy game against Dallas today. Sloppy play by the VIkes, though. I think they incurred more penalties in today's game than in the previous 8 combined. [:@] Loved the free play bomb by Favre. AP had some awesome runs too.
