  1. Had another excellent week of fishing on the Lower Eau Claire lake in northwestern Wisconsin! We stayed there 3 years ago, last year and were there for the past week. The weather was a LOT colder than we had expected, it was only in the upper 50s/low 60s for the first few days there and was very windy and misty as well. I only brought shorts and short sleeve shirts so I kind of froze out on the boat. My wife and I were up there all week and my Mom, Dad, Grandma (who's going to be 92 this year!) and my brother came up Wednesday through today. The cabin was described as a 2 bedroom cabin but they actually had 4 beds and a nice sized couch so we all had plenty of room. Yesterday was the best day of the week weather-wise. It was about 76 and mostly sunny with a very light breeze off the lake. I was on the lake fishing for about 10 hours yesterday. The week's total: 117 panfish, 1 northern pike, 2 largemouth bass and 2 perch! We caught well over 300 panfish but we ended up with 117 that were 'keepers.' It was the most fish I had ever caught on that lake yet. We had two huge fish frys and brought home a ton of fish as well. Last year I caught a 17" largemouth bass but the two that my brother and I caught this year were smaller, just at the legal limit. My brother and I were approached by the Game Warden yesterday. She checked our licenses and what we had caught. It was the first time in my life I ever saw a Game Warden on a lake. I'm glad we both had our fishing licenses on us! My wife and I celebrated our 7th anniversary while we were up there. I bought her a couple pairs of diamond earrings and she got me some cologne, CDs and a gift certificate to a local men's suit store so I can get a suit or two that actually fits me after my weight loss. Surprisingly, my parents, grandma and brother pretty much paid for the cabin as their anniversary present to us! They were all appreciative of the fact that we wanted them to come up there with us. We have a lot of great memories as a family going to cabins like that.
  2. There are a lot of knowledgeable people here, although searching an Infinity forum or other audio forum may yield the information you seek.
  3. PLEASE re-read my post in this thread http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/t/121218.aspx and take it seriously to heart! "I don't want to sound rude and I know your money is your money but by your recent threads it seems that you don't really care how much money you're throwing at your system. If you take your time and do some research you'll be able to invest your money into things that will really improve the quality of your system and not have to resort on throwing something together and then spending more money on upgrades immediately after."
  4. There might be a good reason why many on AVSForum recommend SVS. [A]
  5. Michael, please lay off the coffee before a photo shoot.
  6. If you're using the external amplifier for a subwoofer use the subwoofer output from your receiver.
  7. Yep, definitely Cornwalls. They look beautiful!
  8. They're huge, they're heavy, they sound fastastic. Those would be a dead giveaway right there. []
  9. You, my friend, have a pair of Klipsch Cornwalls, one of the best Klipsch speakers they ever made. Please find a way to be able to hang on to them despite your wife's opinion of them. If worse came to worse and you did need to sell them they generally go for $600-1000 depending on age, condition, wood color, etc. If you were given them for free, I would make sure to thank the giver profusely.
  10. That receiver was designed in a very cheap rack-mount system. 40-20,000Hz isn't even the full spectrum of sound. It was designed to power the Sony speakers that went with the system which weren't very difficult to power. How do you have them hooked up in the back of the receiver?
  11. Rip the music in a lossless format or listen to the original CD. MP3 = [N]
  12. Its a largemouth bass. Caught it with a worm and bobber while fishing for panfish. Caught me by surprise, I thought I had a world record sunfish on the line! Hardly had any worm left on the line too. You can see the raindrops in the water behind me. We got a torrential downpower literally seconds after I caught the bass. I like fishing for smallmouth bass too. I think pound for pound smallies fight a LOT more than largemouth bass do. I hate rock bass and always throw them back. They never seem to fight at all, it feels like you snagged a big boot when you get one on the line.
  13. The sound quality I preferred between my Forte IIs and the RF-7s I had prior to them is the midrange clarity. The Forte IIs had much more midrange detail and dynamic sound due to the midrange horn. Some Heritage speakers may not seem powerful as you've stated, but if you notice the sensitivity rating of them they are generally 100dB sensitive or higher. So, even though Klipschorns are only rated for something like 150 watts max input, they're already outputting well over 100dB with just a single watt going into them. Heritage speakers don't need nearly as much amplifier power to drive them to high decibel levels.
  14. Oops, looks like photobucket cut me out of the pic. Oh well, the bass is the important part, right? Caught last year in Wisconsin. Hopefully I can repeat the same feat this year and add a few northerns and muskies to the old photo album!
  15. So no glass containers, pets or diarrhea in the fountains. Man that eliminates a lot of the fountain-visiting population. I saw a street sign out in the country once that said "188rd Street" instead of "188th Street"
  16. You won't be hurting the 8001 at all, especially with the RF-7s set to small. If you run them full range and have the volume at incredibly high levels every time you're listening to something then you might shorten the life of the 8001. Most speakers have very widely ranging ohm resistances though. That's why you'll many times see them stamped with "8 ohms nominal" or "8 ohms compatible." That means they'll work well with 8 ohm amplification but they aren't 8 ohms resistance from 20Hz to 20kHz.
  17. My pleasure! Also, if at all possible, I'd move the end table with the lamp a little bit closer to the side wall so you can move the RS-42s down about 6" or so.
  18. I used Google SketchUp to show you what I'm talking about as far as angling the speakers towards each other. I could provide more detail if you want but I think it shows the general idea of what would work best in your case. If you haven't tried using SketchUp yet its an awesome program. Takes a little time to learn all the commands but it allows you to instantly re-arrange your room and see what works and what doesn't.
  19. You actually have quite a bit to work with there. What I would do is put a small shelf under each speaker and turn them 90 degrees so they are each facing inward toward your listening postion. Then the speakers can be positioned as they are intended to be as side surrounds and you will be able to hear all four drivers in each speaker instead of only the inside two as they're currently set up. If you can hardly hear them where they are now, mounting them higher isn't going to help any, even if they are angled down. If you want a cleaner installation you can always paint the shelf white that the speaker is sitting on, cut the front side of it at an angle so that it follows the angle of the speaker and also put a white piece of wood behind the speaker so that its back side and wires aren't visible.
  20. Actually the bass sweep in that scene doesn't go very low, I think it ends above 20Hz even according to what I've read at AVSForum. Its recorded incredibly loud though and the sweep effect from high bass to low makes it seem like its digging deeper than it is. I love that scene as well and have shaken the ceiling in my basement more than a few times watching it.
  21. Says 150 watts according to site. Then again, the difference between 125 watts into an RC-62 and 150 watts into it is only about six tenths of a decibel or so. Not really anything to get worried about.
  22. I personally have my EQ set to flat. I don't like messing around with it.
  23. Yikes, that's a bit high on the gain control. Its usually recommended to have the gain control on the sub to be at the 10 or 11 o'clock position and then adjust the sub's output in your receiver's menu.
  24. I thought the previews looked funny and am planning on seeing it. By the way, it was Moses, not Abraham, with the commandments.
