  1. +1. It is a much smarter choice to use no center speaker than one that is totally mis-matched to your front mains. Another Heresy, possibly an Academy, KLF-C7 or KV-4 might work.
  2. [:^)] What? I thought it was only forum members who could fill out the survey/enter? []
  3. Dave, I'd buy tommyboy's Harman/Kardon amp he's selling in the Garage Sale section...
  4. How loud are you turning the Pioneer up to?
  5. It makes all the difference in the world. In my room I found the best placement is behind me against the rear wall that's about 6 feet behind the seating area. The first time I relocated my old SVS to behind me I had to lower the output gain knob by about 1/2 of what I had it at previously because it just about blasted me out of my seat. It is definitely worth the time and effort to find the best placement in your room.
  6. RF-7s have an impedence dip to 2.8 ohms. Very, very few receivers can handle impedence drops that low. Because of that, it causes the amplifiers within a receiver to attempt to drive an ohm load they weren't intended do, resulting in them running out of headroom pretty quickly. Using an extremely general statement, a much higher percentage of separate amps versus receivers are better built and better suited to handle lower ohm loads and as a result they are able to handle speakers like RF-7s much better.
  7. I recently purchased KG 3.5s as side surrounds and love them with my Forte II fronts.
  8. Nice thing is the PE one comes with an AC adapter also.
  9. Perfect. Don't waste money on expensive cables. Use your money where it counts, speakers and electronics.
  10. I bought a Cambridge Audio CD player off Audiogon a couple years ago and was shipped a beat-up Nintendo GameBoy. I thought I had been scammed also but I contacted the seller right away and it turns out the idiots at the UPS Store he went to swapped the shipping label on two different packages. I got the CD player about a week later.
  11. Any RCA interconnect will work. If you experience hum or unwanted noise from your sub use a shielded cable from http://www.monoprice.com. It'll probably cost you about $10-15 shipped depending on length.
  12. Use the sub-out on the receiver. You don't really need a Y splitter but you can use one if you want.

Well I'll be. Looks like it was a Euro-only model 735. That's what threw me off. [A]
  14. Welcome to the forums! There are usually badges on eBay but you'll find that most often sellers list them higher than if you were to buy them directly from Klipsch. Some badge styles have been discontinued though and are no longer available from Klipsch.
  15. Also, as far as settings on the sub itself: -Turn the crossover knob on the sub itself as high as it will go (usually around 150Hz). Use your receiver to set the sub's crossover setting. -Set the Level control to approximately the 10 o'clock position. -Sit where you normally listen to your system and play some music with a good bass beat. Have someone switch the phase between 0 and 180. Use whichever one sounds the best to you. If both positions sound basically the same leave it to 0.
  16. Just leave it set to on. I have had all my powered subs featuring an Auto/On switch always set to On and never had a problem with it. If a sub doesn't sense a strong enough signal it won't wake up.
  17. The Chorus II and Forte II use tractrix midhorns that most would say is an upgrade over the exponential horns in the Forte I and Chorus I. There are upgrades you can perform to the Fortes you already have such as replacing the caps in the crossovers or replacing the entire crossover network. Also there are titanium tweeter diaphragms available. Those are next on my upgrade list.
  18. Your Onkyo has a ton of settings to adjust so it might be something in its menu that needs to be changed. Also the sub needs to be calibrated. For starters: -Turn the crossover knob on the sub itself as high as it will go. -Turn the gain level control on the sub to about the 10 o'clock position. -Change the crossover settings in the receiver to 120Hz for all the speakers and the sub. -Run the Audyssey setup. What are you connecting to your receiver as far as CD player, etc?
  19. I use AC/DC's Shook Me All Night Long at 11 on the volume knob.
  20. Mind if I ask why you'd like the speaker to be taller? You can always prop them up in front so that they tilt back slightly if you need to 'aim' the sound higher.
  21. If you stick with speakers within the same series and as close as possible to the model (Such as the RC-25, RC-35 and RS-25, RS-35) you'll be fine. You'll probably find that center speakers and front main speakers that match each other will have slightly different crossover points even if they have the same drivers. Cabinet size, speaker orientation (center speaker laying flat versus floorstanding/bookshelf sitting upright) has a bearing on what crossover points are needed and work best.

    Transporter 3

On Blu-Ray from NetFlix. 4/5 stars. Lots of scenes that will make you jump out of your chair with explosions, cars crashing into buildings, etc. The biggest beef I had with the film is that the car chases were sped up to a ridiculously obvious rate making them look more like a cartoon than an actual film. I guess I'd prefer Jason Statham to still be driving a BMW 5 series like he did in the first Transporter also. But, the Audi W12 engine did make some nice music! The song that plays through the credits has some great bass that will really get your subwoofers bumpin. I liked the DTS-HD opening on the disc, too. I had my receiver turned way up and both my wife and I jumped from it.
