  1. Thank you Fizzlemizzle. Enjoyed the review.
  2. chops, Since you're doing all these changes with your speakers, you could also try front mounting your tweeters and see if you can hear an improvement in the highs. It's fee and easy to try. I like your drive and attitude. It seems like you're having a lot of fun doing all these changes and hearing the results and that's what it's all about. Keep on keeping on...
  3. Wow... I like the style and the build looks top notch.
  4. Thanks chops. Very nicely done! Enjoy and keep us posted.
  5. Heads up... Belle pair being sold by klipschstore on Ebay. Is this from Klipsch direct? If so, could be a good deal for someone! http://cgi.ebay.com/Heritage-Belle-Klipsch-Floorstanding-Speakers-Mahogany_W0QQitemZ9714816880QQcategoryZ61378QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  6. Daddy Dee, Thank you for replying. I can see how the squawker could struggle at 6000hz. Cutting it down to 4500hz a narrower bandwidth must allow it to reproduce a lot cleaner. Is it one of those mods that as soon as you hear it's a big difference? My preowned 1978 Klipschorns always sounded kind of off to me. I didn't have new ones to evaluate them against. I installed Bob's A/AA crossovers in my 1978 Klipschorns and it brought them back to life! I also did these mods: http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/697931/ShowPost.aspx Since I updated them I am very happy with the way they reproduce sound at this point! Everytime I listen to them a big smile is on my face. I seem to be one of the few who are happy with the K-77, K-55-V, and its 400 horn. I believe that Bob's tweeters and 4500hz coil mod will take me to an even higher level.
  7. Bob, Great tutorial! What and how much of a difference does the added coil for the 4500 hz Mod make to the squawker?
  8. rick88, Any of the Heritage series, Forte, or Chorus speakers will give you good bass response and could match up nice with your Rotel. I own some Chorus II speakers and once owned Fortes II speakers and they will do it all and louder than you will ever need! Sometimes you can get a set off ebay cheap. Keep an eye out for local sells to avoid shipping cost. You find a set local and maybe they'll let you bring your Rotel over to hook up to the speakers first to see if it works for you before you decide to bid. I waited for a set of Klipschorns ebay local and it worked out great for me! The seller allowed me to come and check them out during the auction. He ended up being a really nice man. Of course he was a Klipsch owner. I got them real cheap too. They looked rough then, but not anymore.
  9. I've discovered a lot of audio sales people know very little about audio. Even at some high end audio stores. They try to convince you they do by talking big like they do, but really are just faking it the best they can. They crack me up often with things they say about audio and their advice. I feel kind of bad for them in one way, because they're just trying to do a job they do not have enough real knowledge of. The bad part is that they mislead the public.
  10. So that's how they get their seller IDs. I was wondering about that. I've been seeing these scam auctions going on for a few months now. This same La scala auction has relisted several times. They stay very busy! Always a 24 hour auction, no reserve, free shipping, lots of high end audio, and contact them through an email address and not Question For Seller. It's an easy scam to see through. Just checking the sellers past history shows you they do not have a history of selling items like the ones being listed. Even on ebay, if it's too good to be true, its probably a scam. I wonder if the sellers ID that was stolen gets damaged?
  11. Bob, It's wonderful you are doing well. Take good care of yourself.
  12. I learned how nice Bob's tweeters are built compared to the original K-77 tweeters by what your pictures showed. Let us know how they sound compared to your original Klipsch K-77. I have the same K-77 tweeters and I'm interested in the sound difference too. Thank you again and enjoy...
  13. Congratulations. Thanks for the great pictures. I learned something too. Bob's tweeters look real nice! I'll be buying me some of Bob's tweeters soon too. How can you not for the low cost of what he charges for them. What a great deal. Enjoy.
  14. Bob, I pray God be with you, your family and all those that place their hands upon you. Get plenty of rest and get well soon.
  15. Trey, You being jazzed about the K-600 system makes you my kind of person!
  16. Nice... I like how it looks. Great job on the audio racks!
  17. I agree with the vintage Marantz SS. Clean units can be bought off ebay cheap. They still sound and operate well. They built solid audio back then too. A small integrated will do the job. I bought a Marantz 2275 off ebay for my secondary audio system. I hooked it up to my Klipschorns just for the fun of it and they sound great together. I'm buying me a vintage Marantz 1152DC integrated someday and I'm betting it will make the Klipschorns sound even better than the 2275. As stated, resell is always an option and nothing much is usually lost in the transaction.
  18. I really like the 50th anniversary Klipschorns. Cool retro look.
  19. The reason they are in false corners even though they are in corners is because 3/4" MDF reflects bass better than drywall and the added top and bottom boards of the false corner helps also. The top board of the false corner also allows me to direct top cabinets outward toward the listener. False corners are the recommended 48" in length. I had some extra in front so I added the boards flared out from the bass bin to the front of the false corner and they helped even more. New K-77 diaphragms, K-55-V diaphragms, woofers, Beautiful Bob Crites crossovers, and new wire were part of the restoration. The old tar-type door seals were removed and new closed foam types were installed. The tweeters are front mounted and tweeter cabinets can be repositioned to vertical or moved back more for high frequency time alignment. The opening in the board that the squawker is back mounted to was angle cut to match the flare of the horn. Squawker cabinets sit on two halved racket balls in front and one tennis ball in back. This stops all resonance from the bass bin false corner from reaching the squawker cabinets and tilts the top cabinets downward toward the listener's position. Oak laminate is stained golden brown and will be darkened and shined with Watco Danish oil soon. Tweeter cabinets are shaped the same as squawker cabinets which were built using original dimensions. The tweeter cabinets look like the squawker cabinet's little brother.
