  1. Dam! were they in (ten miles from home) Milton Ma ? I just got back from vacation and missed them. They sure would look good with my natural split lascalas as floor moniters for the dress up gigs. My all black no trim h-sm's are real heavy I bet theses way a ton with the trim. If you ever want to sell pm me.
  2. If you want real loud they might be better as they take more power.
  3. BadDad, I wonder when Klipsch went three way as both my 51 khorns are factory three way, One has the jensen pl5 the other a early Stevens trusonic. The one with the jensen also has a jensen twetter. Soon I will be playing with a 47 and 49-50 khorn two way. one has a very early trusonic mid/high driver the other a very early Altec 802b .
  4. Red head is a 72 50 watt, with 6550 black plate rca's. The teal 4x12 slant is a old recover but it has it's stock 71 celestions, All the other cabinets have a combo of vintage jbl,ev, celestion , jensen ect. for diffrent flavors when recording.
  5. Really cool adding all the vintage brochers and ads to the site, Nice job! Whats the oldest know klipsch ad and or brocher? I would love to sesomthing from the 40's.
  6. R P 302’s can be really big $$ if the seller knows what it is. The ones Klipsch used were the gold ones with the bullet shaped cover with bracket for mounting to the mid horn.. looks just like this one in link below http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.hifilit.com/hifilit/Jensen/RP302-2.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.hifilit.com/hifilit/Jensen/Jensen.htm&usg=__Gj4hTpf7_Tr4iY3jGHV9mHCwmas=&h=813&w=1250&sz=179&hl=en&start=4&um=1&tbnid=MUiBUV88TNOi9M:&tbnh=98&tbnw=150&prev=/images%3Fq%3Djensen%2Brp%2B302%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26um%3D1
  7. How about a forum called" Pa rigs on the road " or somthing like that for us touring band guys that are lug'n around old klipsch cabinets?
  8. I have a few old khorns ( call it 7 ) and the best sounding stock twetter to me is theJensen RP-302 used on my 51. I thik they only used it on some 51's. I dont know why klipsch stoped using it might have been cost and very few recodings back then used the high info this tweeter could put out. The university tweeter is ok sounding but I would pick the t35 over it, but theres not that big of a diffrence. I use the orig crossovers in most of my 50's Khorns and have found all them still up to spec. Te old large can caps rarely leak or driff out of spec. If someone is making new crossovers that are the same specs as the 50's one thats news to me as the 60's and later are at diffrent points do the the metal mid horn bass slot ect. I like the way the older horns sound over newer ones. I have done a lot of a b using the top from my split lascals with new and stock a/ aa crossovers. the 51 is the smoothest sounding and my number one pic. If you have the trousonic 15's dump them and send them to me,I'll send you some new k33.
  9. If you balck widow has the fluid tray (just behanind the pivot poin) and you add the right fluid, you can use many more modern cartridges. My orig owners manual shows a moving coil cart installed in the pics.
  10. SETI, Thanks for the scans . I found so far very little info, what you scaned was great.
  11. I thought running a tube amp at the wrong ohms could blow the output transformer.
  12. I should have this up and powering the khorn it came with in the next week.. Now to hunt for some more MONO recodings. I still cant not find any info on "the audiophile custom". only company using audphile in the 50's was Audiphile records. From what I read about the owner of Audiphlie records was he made a lot of custom electronics for his studio, maybe he had somthing to do with this?
  13. I have a 1955 vintage khorn with a trusonic Bass driver what ohms setting would be best on mac 30 amp? The khorn will be by amp electronicy and will be only seeing the bass driver. Are the 50 khorn bass drivers 16 ohm???
  14. lotos of tubes= pre amp? crossover ?phono stage/ tuner. ect
  15. I found two klipschorn stlyed hifi cabints one is loaded with cool 50's gear. The othe twin was never populated. I saw theses khorn styled cabinets ect on Craig list and juat had to have them, never really thought I had a chance as they were price real real fair(did i say cheap). Anyone ever heard of the Audiophlie custom? This stuff looks very high end and real well made. Even came with a mint custom made klipschorn with trusonic bass driver and altec 802b monted on wooden horn that look like the orig proto type klipsch mid horn. This khorn was electronicly cross over with tube electronics. The funny thing is i never look at craig list and there it was the next town over 6 miles from home. Now to see how that altec 802b/woodhorn compares to my klipsch drivers. hope to have this up and running soon.
  16. I just picked up a old tube power hammond m 103 and wanted to hook it up to a khorn for added punch. Anyone have the khorn leslie parts for sale? I know klipsch made the kit back in the day.. The padle fit inside the big old 50 's area mid horn and was powerd wih a pully and motor.
  17. Nice looking cabs, I really like the later one, it has the same finishas my first run Heresy cool. I think the tweeter show in the pic above is not orig to the speaker. all the early khorns I have seen always had them mounted in the middle right of the mid brace in the mid horn. It's real hard to put a value on theses as the prices are all over the place and shipping can be a big big factor in value. I would think near a grand each would'nt be out of line if they have the orig speakers. BTW I use to be khorn58 .
  18. I picked up a cr1000 at a yard sale last summer for 20 bucks, I thought it looked cool and really well made. Hooked it up to a pair of lascalas and I must say it the best 20 I have ever spent. were does the cr1000 fall in the yahmaha line up?
  19. Nice looking cabinet. It does'nt look like any of the klipsch built units is there any serial numbers or tags? I might have a 54 mid horn lying around.
