  1. I didn't parade it as a production quality masterpiece. It is a 1973 recording, so what can you expect? Sometimes, you listen to the music because you like it. [] I'd rather jam to ELP's 1973 recordings (with all their limitations) than to LeeAnn Rhymes. JMO.
  2. I don't like to copy and distribute due to piracy issues, but I found one for you. $8.97 from Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000033TE/104-9188295-1779958?v=glance&n=5174
  3. Yesterday, I threw on ELP's "Brain Salad Surgery" CD. I let the first couple of songs rip. Song 2 is "Tocatta." I haven't played that track in a few years, and that was before I had my KHorns. That song has some low lows, and the bass really surprised me. I was on the second floor, and you could feel the floor shaking with sustained bass notes. It kind of scared me a little that I might blow the speakers. But I knew I wouldn't because I've had it plenty louder before on other songs. Anyway, that song, for now, will be a good bass reference song for me. I have heard (in the never-ending LaScala bashing threads) reference to some songs that go real low because of pipe organs and tympani drums. I assume these are symphonies. What music was being referenced? Anyone have some song names and CD titles?
  4. No, but the best systems I've ever heard were separates. Could be pure coincidence for some other reason.
  5. I checked, and my KHorns are not pieced parts. The serials on tops and bottoms match.
  6. Interesting to know about wood bleaching. I'll keep it in mind. Was it hard work or wipe on/wipe off? Find me a nice AVR435 for $400, and I think I'd go for it. Anybody know where I can find one for this price - or am I unrealistic?
  7. Here's the sexiest tube pre I've ever seen, AND it comes w/a remote at not a bad price (if it's really high-end). Just letting you know... http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?preatube&1141932226
  8. I've got some possible good news for you, Meagain. In re-grilling the top bin of my second KHorn, I paid attention this time to what's underneath. Guess what? Darker stained Birch. Hmmmmm. Either I have a set built of parts, or somebody found a way to remove dark stain to be re-stained a lighter color. Hopefully, it's the latter for you since that could open up some possibilities. Now, any word on the amp? I'm for real. Or is where it's at not convenient? I'm not familiar with all the suburbs around.
  9. To answer the previous question, when hooking a receiver as pre-out, it will work much like any ordinary pre-amp (in general) is my understanding. I think all pre-amps put out some wattage - if I recall correctly. Also, a previous comment concerning tubes was made that tubes are better than SS until you start spending around $2500. For reasons addressed earlier (and my $800 Crown) I disagree.
  10. Head South and make a left in Albuquerque!
  11. I'm indigenous! Talk like a Texan; write like a New Yorker.
  12. Scooter, that was sarcasm. Read my "heartfelt" comments in this thread: http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/676157/ShowPost.aspx There, you will understand why the options in this poll were crafted the way they were. All in fun!
  13. .... or maybe the whiskey helps you love them. []
  14. That's 3 "BAH's", JB! There's a 2-BAH limit. That'll be 1 demerit! []
  15. Also, although I am an SS guy, I'll come to a partial defense of tubes. Those who have commented that tubes don't have the ability to deliver low-end punch like the hard-core SS amps are incorrect. Some tubes might not be able to do this, but certainly not all. I have very limited tube experience. NosValves' VRD's delivered all the same punch as my Crown - at least when you get up to bordering on insanely loud.
  16. Easy Friday? Easy life! .... Actually, I just reviewed and marked up 4 pages of a construction contract in the meantime. Will NOBODY admit to indulging in Schattenfreude? []
  17. "Something for Nothing" by Rush. Next: "Witches Potion Mixed in the ocean Of tears Mystical Powers Emerge From the towers Of fear" Name that Tune!
  18. Wait! Any good marketing manager knows the break-in period is 1-day longer than the warranty period. []
  19. ?<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>I have KhornsI don't have KHorns but Somebody with KHorns told meI listen to rapSchattenfreude!
  20. No, we haven't. This is fun - let's keep going... []
  21. Aha! "Born under a Bad Sign" by Cream! [A] Next: "For the sparkling waves are calling you to kiss their white laced lips. And you see a girls brown body dancing through the turquoise, And her footprints make you follow where the sky loves the sea." Name that Tune! (I didn't know we were back active, today).
  22. I can go with that idea, but it would turn this forum into a carpentry forum. (Not that I haven't tried unsuccessfully with Meagain). []
  23. They're nice. If I didn't have KHorns, I would have paid that much for decent-looking LaScalas like that. If money is not an issue, get KHorns so you won't have to read all those "bass-lacking" threads in agony and disbelief. [] I think LaScalas are plenty good, and I do not fall into the camp that says they can't do bass. But I have to say, at least I don't have to suffer thread after thread telling me how my speakers suck. Kind of funny nobody spends their time bashing a far inferior speaker made by Klipsch - like the (well I won't go there). I guess you can call it "Schattenfreude!" []
  24. Hey, JB, get that "smart" look off your avatar! [] BAH! As in BAH, BAH Black Sheep, or as in BAH, BAH O'Reilly? Okay, I cheated and looked at your profile. You're an SS man. Now, I know what you mean. You're excused! []
