  1. Thanks for that link Pauln.....I was able to find the manual for my Denon DP-1250....been looking for one.
  2. Seti.....we may have to promote you to grillmaster ll. You certainly pay attention to details. I have trouble planning that far ahead....but have a friend like you who knows the devils in the detail. Good smoking.
  3. No its an FA3 part of the Award Series. Bought it on audiogon and did'nt get much information. Think its about 24 watts/channel....but oh the sound. I switch it out from time to time but my Quicksilver Horn Monos are part of my main system so the HK does'nt get much use. Could put another system together in an upstairs bedroom but it would get little use.
  4. Welcome to the forum Ostepop......hang in there and someone will answer your questions. Congrats on the reciever. I have a HK from the 60s....a tubed reciever and I really like it. Buy some Klipsch and you won't need a lot of power....just a few watts. Chuck
  5. Welcome to the forum bradec1204. Should be able to move the LS quick at that price.
  6. Welcome to the forum Blvdre.....as you can see.....a pretty lively crowd.
  7. Thats not so bad Buck.....the first time I heard a cdp in a stereo shop I asked the salesman to flip it over and play the other side.....now pass those snakes.
  8. Checked my lottery ticket......did'nt win.....so its back to work tomorrow. Got to pack a lot into this afternoon to even feel like I've had 2 days off. Thundering now so activities may be all indoors. May have to spin some vinyl if lightning does'nt get to close.
  9. Duke.....you're not saying Buck lives in the sticks are you? So far back in the woods even the Episcopalians are handling snakes?
  10. Interesting thread. Just one question......why do people feel the need to kill all of them? They rattle to let you know they are present....you are in their territory. Why not just give them some room and move on?
  11. great weekend here.......glad the pilgrimage was fun....sorry about the colds.....get well soon.
  12. A lot of good responses with very ambitious plans. How much did you really get done? I mowed the grass, edged, and took an ailing tomato specimen to the farmers supply for diagnosis. Bloom rot from insufficient calcium. Bought appropriate spray. Lunched at chick filet and headed home. Went back out for Italian for dinner to cook at home, made cocktails, harassed Bluesboy on the 2 channel forum and just cleaned a record and warmed up the tube amps and preamp. Other than the wife feeling poorly its been a good day. Hope yours went well.
  13. Okay Bluesboy.....I see you're struggling with a snappy comeback and since you have never read "The Art Of The Deal" heres what you do. Counter offer the Reedster's offer. Tell him you're not worthy of those Infinity speakers. Tell him you will let him have those sweet Fostex speakers for $675 plus a bottle of Dalmore single malt, a 12 pack of Modelo Especial and two dozen wings from Anthonys in the Mayfaire shopping center. Once the goods are delivered call me. While he is trying to do the math give him a pen to sign the check. So instead of sitting there ringing your hands you can go to obamagirl.com and have a pleasant experience. God....do I always have to hold your hand?
  14. What the heck you want to go messing around with something like that?
  15. Welcome to the forum Ola. Good luck with your new music system. Keep us posted when its up and running.
  16. The college world series starts at 7:00 pm. Point that Porsche south and come hang out with me and Bluesboy. We will have some cocktails, get Bluesboy to cook up some of his award winning ribs and watch the Heels wear out Oregon State.
  17. Yard work, grilling, watching the Tarheels in the college world series, a lttle music. Is Meagain realy 66 years old? Bet the pilgrimage would be fun....may try it sometime.
  18. The memorial service for nine fallen Charleston, SC firefighters was attended by representatives of fire and police departments from all over the US and Canada. My deepest condolences to the family and friends of all those american heroes. The average annual pay for firefighters here in Wilmington, NC is $25,000! Just this past tuesday night they came before the city council trying to get a pay increase. The answer was no. Shame Mayor Saffo and council.
  19. You're right Buck.....every now and then I think it would be great if some of the old artist started having their work remastered. I would love to have a lot of that old music with great sound. I would love to have CSN&Y, Pure Prairie League, Bad Company, Otis, Carole King, Joe Cocker, the soundtrack from Woodstock and Monterey Pop Festival and numerous others remastered. Just about all of Miles Davis' work has been remastered. What is keeping this from happening if the master tapes still exist? Shed some light Buck.
  20. Darn Arky....don't you work for a living? Gonna be kinda quiet around here this weekend with everyone at the pilgrimage. Lot of yardwork tommorow.....93 degrees. May not have to use charcoal on the grill...just keep the black top closed in the sun. Thebes....we must be the same age. Should be my 40 year reunion but have'nt heard a word about plans. 650 in my class.
  21. Just standard over the counter cds but they must have used 24 bit recording technology (whatever that is, but it sounds good). All the old jazz I buy has been remastered or on lps. I use a guideline that if its 2002 or newer it usually has good sound (may or may not be a good policy). The old cds from the 80s were horrible for the most part, metalic sounding, no warmth. I have been reluctant to buy a couple of Knopflers from the 90s for that reason. I recently sent 3 of 5 Booker T cds back to Amazon because the sound was poor. Have culled about 200 old cds out of my stash that just don't sound good. Playing them through a tubed Jolida cdp.
  22. Welcome Satsu.....good decision to move slowly. Enjoy your speakers. Chuck
  23. Arky......Heels 7........Rice 2. Listened to Ragpicker's Dream and then came flipped through the wasteland and found the college series and the Heels. Chuck
