  1. I have a PW-2200 v2 as one of my PC subs and no complaints here. Can be a little hard to place with that big friggin port and you can almost forget putting it under your desk because it is not shielded. When you do get it placed right your games and music on the PC will be awesome.
  2. Yes they are not as good the Reference Series but they are still decent compared to others in their price range. I have 2 Reference surround systems and a Synergy system and while not as detailed they are still pleasing to the ear especially at high volumes.
  3. I employ the bid early tactic but I buy very little from eBay, maybe 1 or 2 items a year. When I do bid I jack up the price so that no one snipes me in the last 5 seconds. I only bid on stuff I really want or if it's heavy & happens to be close to my area in an effort to save on shipping. Even an area that is close to moon base alpha will cost a crap load of cash compared to 90% of the rest of North America. In these cases I will pay close to new prices because like I said it's either hard to get or it saves me money on the shipping so what may look like a bad deal by some idiot to you is really a good deal to me. Someone else mentioned that its no big deal because there will be another similar item available next week. Maybe if you live in the US. Try going to eBay.ca and typing in Klipsch. Youre lucky if you get half a page with the in Canada search. Go to the Worldwide search and you might get close to 2 pages, 80% of which is crap like the old 4.1 ProMedias. Combine this with the markup a lot of companies, including Klipsch, do in Canada and other countries after the currency conversion and maybe now you can start to see what seems like a high price is still a good deal to others.
  4. Funny you should mention that because black La Scalas could be in my near future. I'd prefer Khorns but I'm not one to pass up a good opportunity. I'm not really too worried because I may end up refinishing all the speakers so they match. Hey at least when you're sanding them you don't have to worry about going through the veneer. I'f I do end up with the La Scalas I will get a third for the center to go with the 4 herseys surrounds. Only problem is that I have never heard a La Scala. I take comfort in that people say they sound similar to a Khorn with less reach down low. I don't like buying with out hearing but the geography alone will save me a fair chunk on shipping. I don't really know if I want to trade in my dreams of a set of Khorns.
  5. Need to know the year thanks. 201490834 & 201490835
  6. The basement will be 28x40 so anything within that is doable. I will also require some space behind the main seating area for a stand up bar in addition to a wet bar behind that so at least another 10ft making the length a minimum of 22ft. I'm calculating that with a 10ft ceiling keeping in mind that you said I need a width of 20-24ft for my viewing distance and I require a minimum of 22ft for the length I end up with a dimension of 22.8 x 27.8 x 10 WxLxH. Appreciate any suggestions you have on my dimensions and if you have any pics I would love to see them. Thanks.
  7. Thanks guys. I'm looking to put together a Heritage 7.1 HT setup over the next couple of years for the house I'm building. The plan right now is to go with 2 Khorns as mains, a Belle or La Scala as a center and 4 Hersey's for side and rear surrounds all in black to match the black leather couchs and furniture. I'd also be interested in possible room dimensions to give me the best sound for the Khorns with a seating position about 12 ft from a 122-inch widescreen. Baring in mind that a 122-inch 16:9 widescreen is 106-inches wide and I want to sit 12 ft away what kind of room dimensions would I need to accommodate the Khorns? I know this is the 2 channel forum but you guys are the ones that seem to know the most about the Khorns. Thanks.
  8. I'm looking for a pic of a black lacquer Klipschorn because I have never seen one before and would like to in order to help decide on which finish. Thanks.
  9. I don't really understand what you mean but if you are asking if it is physically possible then the answer is yes.
  10. If it's a space issue go with the Reference Satelites, 5 RSX-5's or 4 RSX-5's and an RCX-4, plus the sub of your choice. Easily better than the two systems your uncle is considering.

    6.1 Movie ?

Try this link and go to the orange section titled "Sound & Picture Criteria Search". Select either DTS®-ES Discrete 6.1 or Dolby® Digital Surround EX but not both together or it looks just for movies that have both, leaving out the DVD's that just have DTS or DD 6.1. http://db2.widescreenreview.com/dvdreview/FMPro?-db=dvdreview.fp5&-lay=Main%20Data%20Entry&-format=search2.htm&-view
  12. The question was about the RF3 and the RF3II not the RF35. To my ear there is no difference but I do not have picky ears like some. If I was buying any of these two or lets say three speakers I would be more concerned with the price than anything else. If the price was equal I would go with the newer model.

    New SVS model!!

"If he were posting about a Polk sub, would you guys be so supportive?" If it was better, yes!
  14. Sorry to reply so late but work has been nuts or rather the nuts have been nuts. I assume by your sig that you already made your decision which is the way I would of gone. Not necessarily because it's better but rather because it's a better match for the RSX-5's.
  15. Yeah these speakers are pretty good. I'm using four RSX-5's and one RCX-4 with a Denon receiver, SVS and Paradigm subs on my computer so it's a little bit of a different application. These things really rock with a little juice and I doubt that you would be able to find better sats in this price range. I also have an RSX-4 on my main system as a rear center which also impressed me given it's much smaller size compared to the RSX-5. No complaints here.
  16. There are more and more 6.1 DVD's coming all the time and it really does enhance the surround effect. These are some of the Dolby Digital EX & DTS ES movies I have and there are more than this out right now. My guess is there are atleast 120 or more 6.1 DVD's currently out which is a fair number. Along Came A Spider Art Of War Austin Powers The Spy Who Shagged Me Austin Powers Goldmember Bats Blade II Die Another Day Final Destination 2 Finding Nemo Freddie VS Jason Gladiator Harry Potter: The Chamber Of Secrets Harry Potter: The Sorcers Stone Hulk Lord Of The Rings: Fellowship Of The Ring Lord Of The Rings: Two Towers Jurassic Park III Messenger: The Story Of Joan Of Arc Minority Report Mission To Mars Monsters Inc. Perfect Storm Pirates Of The Caribbean Pitch Black Rush Hour 2 Say It Isn't So See Spot Run Signs Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones Terminator Terminator 2: Judgment Day Terminator 2: Judgment Day Extreme The Evil Dead The Haunting Toy Story 2 Unbreakable We Were Soldiers
  17. I hate scrabble but my wife loves it so I bought here a couple versions of scrabble for the PC and now she doesn't mind that I won't play with her. Scrabble that is!
  18. I'm very impressed with the sound. PC and Xbox games are over the top now so I don't see me wanting to upgrade my PC speakers for a very long time. I kept the RSX-4 because there was no way I could send back a perfectly working speaker, it just felt wrong. I will just use the RSX-4 as a rear center on one of the other systems. I guess I will have to start working on a Heritage surround system but I will have to wait until 2005 because that's when I start building my house. I have 5 surround systems in an apartment so there is no room for Khorns yet.
  19. Andre_Roy check with your dealer because mine just came in.
  20. Nice to see Tom has done some testing on the latest version of the PW-2200 which has since moved up the list from the original version. Great cheap slam, especially for Canadians.
  21. The desk lamp idea is a good one but I don't know if they would hold an RSX-5 because the ones I have seen can barely hold the lamp. I was hoping some company made a mount like this for speakers.
  22. Block heaters, battery blankets and timed starters are the required combination to keep a vehicle going here. I burned a half tank of gas yesterday in my Explorer and I didn't even leave my driveway. My friend got frostbite the other day when he went for a cigarette so smoking really is hazardous to your health especially if they are king size.
