  1. Thanks, I will try those sites. I had one guy talk to me today, I let him listen to them and the "blew his mind." So we will see.
  2. I am currently trying the Sell my Klipsch/Yamaha system to upgrade toa Klipsch reference/HK system. Everything is one year old and in perfect condition. B-3 x2 C-2 S-2 x2 Sub-12 HTR-5840 Sanus stands Vantage Point wall/ceiling mounts. The speakers MSRP at $1480 and the other stuff at around $400. This is my first time selling stuff and need some help. I was thining of asking $1300 for everything. Is that a fair asking price and where do I sell it? I have posted an add on www.buysellcommunity.com and put up some posters locally but have not heard back.
  3. Everyone buying these new speakers makes me want to sell mine even faster. Currently I have no replies...ugh...I wanna buy the new reference BTW-Why the 62's and not the 82's and did you buy them at MHT or go through accomodation?

    Sony SXRD

I sold the 60" to a guy tonight, great TV. Honestly, it's hard to go wrong with *most* of the TV's now.
  5. What? Over priced cables!?! Not in your dreams. Everyone needs monster, in fact, everyone needs Audioquest!............Well, maybe not..?.. I would buy good cables, not the cheapest you can find and not the most expensive. It is easy to find alot of Monster and AcousticResearch stuff for half off online. I have ripped open enough Monster and AR cables to see that Monster is made higher quality so like the good doctor said, they can last longer, or hold in place better etc... I have also heard that Bluejeanscable.com is great and accessories4less.com is good (I think that is the name). Another great site is harmanaudio.com, they sell refurb HK stuff for half off and some new stuff at MSRP.
  6. Yeah, the BB discount is how I can afford the speakers. The system is used mostly for 2-channel music, so I want my mains to be good. When I watch movies I want it in surround but it is a secondary function of the system so I am fine with the RF-52 and RS-42 aslong as they don't stick out. I just need to sell my Synergy B-3 system first.
  7. If anyone can explain the logic that Klipsch or Magnolia used in selecting which speakers to carry, then please explain it to me. They carry the following: RF-82, RF-62, RB-61, RC-52, RS-42, RW-12d, RW-10d as far as HT is concerned. They carry the entire RB-61 system, but only the suggested sub for the RF-62 system and none of the suggested components for the RF-82 system. I was set on buying the RF-62 system with the RC-52, RS-42 and RW-12d, but I have been reading that the RF-82's would be well worth the money to step up to. I would really like to pickup some RF-82's, which I can only come close to affording because of employee discount, but nothing else matches. Would timbre matching be bad from the 82's to the 52 and why do they have such a limited selection?
  8. The dynex power conditioners work very well, not sure about the AR but Isell them over the monster in the same price range just because. I know the dynex is good because monster sent a "noise sniffer" to us to sell power conditioners and the dynex did better than the monster cables. But that is broekn now so I don't know how to AR compare.
  9. Since you work at BB, buy as many Rocket Fish cables as possible since those have the biggest discount. Since I work in HT and have to deal with this stuff all day, here is what I would recommend for you. AR Pro II -sub cable -banana plugs -optical Monster -16 guage XP wire..Some guys may reccommend the 12 guage AR for the F-3's Rocket Fish -HDMI -Digital Coax -Component -Stereo audio BTW-you can use accomodation for monster, and buy a harmony 590, they are money.

Yes, the S-3's are more efficient so they will be louder with the same amount of power and they will also timbre match the rest of your system. You should be very happy witht he upgrade.
  11. What will you use the system for, HT or music? The quintents are great speakes and will go very loud for small speakers, do you alrady have them hooked up?. If you want a 7.1 system I would just buy the b-2's for 200 and use those for mains, but i am not very familiar with the SP-1's.
  12. NASA uses JVC's HD-ILA So you should too! Personally I like the JVC's although i have heard alot about the bulbs burning out quickly. Personally, I would go with the JVC over the comparable Samsung. I do think the Sony SXRD looks better than the JVC though, but not enough to cover the price difference. one thing Iwould ask the BB employee to do is to change the JVC and whatever TV is next to it to standard deff. and see what you like better. That is, if you are going to be watching standard deff., if not, buy the JVC and an HD-DVD Player and call it good.
  13. Be sure to say how you like the system, I am thinking about the exact same system except with a HK reciever. The Denon is a great choice, alot of people around here like them and you will have plenty of power for you system.
  14. We sell the entire Synergy line, it is a shame we don't sell the reference. If you were to go witht he F-3's then you would need to buy the S-3's and C-3. Those are on an order in basis only. Personally i like the entire f-2 system alot and if you are looking to upgrade to the F-3's i would transfer over the the reference side of things and go with the rf-62, rc-52, rs-42, and rw-12d. If finish is not a big deal to you the sub-12 is $200 less than the rw-12d and would perform great. Not quite as powerful as the F-3 system but then you get to step into a reference system for actually less money. If it happens that the quintet system is all you can afford, they are great speakers. You also get $380 bucks off for going with the quintet III, sub 10, yamaha DVD player reciever. Like I sai, it is a great system, but for smaller rooms and if you want to crank alot of 2 channel music than definately go with towers.....
  15. I could be wrong but Ithought that the mic for the 5960 was shaped like a dome and the 5X90 line was like a tower. I could be wrong though. I do know that the 6090 has a new improved YPAO. Anyway, i order the mic just for the 5990 today and i will wait until that comes in and hopefully that is the problem, and if not, any suggestions on where to go?
  16. I think Iam going to actually find the mic for the 5990 and see if that makes a difference.
  17. It isn't logical that plugging it into the wall directly would benefit. The whole purpose of a power conditioner is to protect the units and possily make them perform better, not worse. Most people i talk to say that notice a very small improvement but i have met a couple people who can't stop talking about how everything sounds and looks so much better after using a power conditioner.
  18. I have two simple questions. 1. Can you plug a subwoofer into a powerconditioner with all your other components? I was told that the draw can be too much but in HT magazine they plugged the subwoofer into the high current filter on the main power conditioner and said there was a noticable improvment. 2. Should Iplug my reciever into the receiver plug or the high current "amp" plug. thanks
  19. definitely angle them down. You don't want underpowered surrounds but the surround speakers are not on constantly, in fact, a person doesn't actually take not of them very often in a movie and most music isn't in 5.1. Basically, you don't always need very powerful surrounds, unless you listen to a lot of music in 6 channel stereo. Just some words of advice, but Iam not familiar with each of the speaker so sorry, no suggestions there.
  20. I have an spl meter but i didn't want to take the time to set everything. I also want to use the EQ with the mic. to adjust for room acoustics and it has an EQ for each speaker. Iforgot to mention that the mic is actually from the 5890 and Iam using it on the 5990, do you think that is the problem? Should I try contacting Yamaha, or would tha tbe a waste of time?
  21. I sold a yamaha HTR-5990 to a friend tonight and went over after work to set it all up. Personally, I think the auto cal. mic is a great feature, so i pluged it in, hit "start", and I sat back only to have my ears rocked and to see an error message. The reciever was setting speaker size/distance and sent out a series of increasingly loud test tones to the front left speaker. Then after a ridiculously loud tweeter melting test tone it showed an error that it could not sense any sound from the front left speaker, and the speaker was obviously working. I would assume that the mic is broken. Any other ideas as to whats going on? ps. I had a gentleman come in tonight that was very adimant to tell me Bose was the best speaker made, but that Klipsch came in close second...I sold him Klipsch.
  22. While it is true that monster boasts a 400,000 equipment (on the HTS 3600) guarantee panamax offers a 5,000,000 dollar equipment protection guarantee on a power conditioner that costs half of the monster unit.
  23. Opps..I thought Dr. Who made the comment about price. I see he hasn't even posted on this thread. I meant Jay. I have no idea how the AR does because some kid at the Fargo store broke the noise sniffer, so I will see if monster will send us a new one.
  24. The monster 30, 40, and 70 dollar surge protectors are pretty wimpy. At BB we sell a dynex one for 60 bucks that Ilike. Monster sent the store in Fargo (hick town North Dakota) a noise sniffer to plug into the AC outlets and read the interference. Apparently the dynex power filter beat out those three monster ones. I generally shoot for one tenth the price of all the customers equipment to put into a power conditioner. Anyway, the Doctor was definately right that the markup on the items is ridiculous. But you can get good deals on the net. Personally, I would recommend this for a good power conditioner at a good price. http://www.accessories4less.com/cgi-bin/item/MCHTS3500MKII
