  1. Not a bump, but a retain in MY FORUMS [6]
  2. Dan, Congrads on the beginning of your project. I too, just started a pair of Belles, but for my test pair I am using MDF. Oak paneling in my neck of the runs around 42 dollars a sheet. I'm going to wait and see how the test pair works out and then build them out of solid oak for the keepers []
  3. 12-12-2005 12:22 p.m. to make finding it easier
  4. DeanG posted a Dope for Hope pdf file on the forums and article 15 no 1 talks about this change. Nice little bit of info... http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/5/648007/ShowPost.aspx
  5. this is the most informative link that i've found on crossovers to date []
  6. I noticed that on my Type E crossovers that the negative from the input is run to the positive terminals on the sqawker and tweeter posts. I had read somewhere to way this is done, but for the life of me can't recollect why ???? Looking at some photos recently on eBay of some type AA networks, it didn't appear that that was the case. I'm trying to figure out why this is done and is it done on all of their crossovers? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  7. Was just reading some of the articles in the Pilgrimage and it has some snippets from a book by Paul or about Paul. Can anyone tell me where I can get one of these???? Thanks Sam
  8. Looking at a sets of Khorns with serial numbers 1-R-248 & 1-R-249, can you tell me when these were manufactured? Thanks, Sam
  9. Am getting ready to build another set of speakers and was chatting with BEC and he threw out the idea of building a set of these. I have no idea of what they look like and what components that they contain. Help................. Thanks, Sam
  10. I'm building another set of speakers, what I have already is a set of K-52-ti(s) for the mids, a set of k-63-kv(s) that I plan to use for the tweeters. Both from what I understand to have sensitivity of 102dB 1w/1m. The woofers I'm looking at are rated at 96.5dB and are 4 ohm woofers. I was thinking of using a type E crossover and was unsure of the impact this may have. My thought was that using a the above mentioned woofer with this crossover may help balance the difference in sound. I am unsure of what will happen to the crossover components and amplifiers in trying this tweek. Thanks
  11. If i replaced my 8 ohm drivers with 4 ohm drivers what mods if any would I have to do to my Type E crossovers?? Should I consider buying some Type B crossovers? Thanks
  12. Bought another set of these magnigicent drivers, had been thinking about these in the week between winning and receiving. Thought about the endless numbers of set-ups that I may use these in...too many to list. Driving home from work I was full with anticipation, I knew they would be lying there waiting for me. Got home, saw the white box waiting for me to open it up and gently unpack these mid-range monsters. Opened them up, grabbed my ohm meter checked them, 10.9 and 10.9. Beautiful a nicely matched set of ear-piercing beasts. I picked the one up and was carefully examining it, gorgeous. Then I picked the other one up and found Much to my dismay I had one that looked like the UPS guy was practicing his Bocce ball technique from the street to my front porch. Does anyone know if I can purchase this piece from Klipsch or point me into the right direction of possibly obtaining this piece? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Sam
  13. During what years did they install the k33P in the Klipschorns?
  14. Jimi Hendrix Eric Clapton Stevie Ray Vaughan Jimmy Page Freddy King Carlos Santana Trey Anastasio Jimmy Page B.B. King Not in any particular order, depending on my mood. But best of all time, let me think...... [H]
  15. One of my favorites from the Beatles in my speakers is the Sun King. If I play this I'm looking around in the basement for those damned crickets. The vocals are tremendous as well. Throw in Abbey Road and fire up the Sun King.
  16. I nabbed the Belle plans here on the forum, but would like to experience a folded horn. I believe I have enough pictures to accurately reproduce the Khorn, within a quarter of an inch here and there. But still I am unsure of the upper frequency range of the bins. Of course I have a design of my own to where I can almost obtain a seven foot horn path into a cabinet that is 2.5 inches wider and 5 inches deeper than a Belle. Then time alignment becomes my next issue that I will need help with overcoming. Am contemplating using a Type A or AA crossover to help with this obstacle. Atop the bass bin I am going to mount my horns so that they can be adjusted possibly 10 degrees either way to adjust my sweet spot. If this works out my Heresys will then become my rear channel speakers. Then to finally top everything off I anticipate constructing a Belle replica for my center, and then I'm done, with speakers that is. Any input and help is greatly appreciated. If this idea seems too far fetched, I'm open for constructive criticism. Just tell me I'm nuts. It won't hurt my feelings
  17. I originally wanted to build bass bins, so therefore, I believe this warrants a midrange driver. From what I understand is that the crossover point for the CF-4 is 1500Hz, I have yet to see a bass bin that offers this kind of top end. The K-52s I have now are seperated by a set of type E networks that I believe are at 700Hz. Both of the drivers I've mentioned have a sensitivity of 102 db. Therefore with an appropriate woofer and crossover settings I think that the mids will not be overpowering. Is it fair to think that with a K-33 in a folded horn bass bin that I can achieve decent sound reproduction up to 700Hz? Ay theres the rub......... Sam
  18. I have recently came across a set of K-63 drivers from a set of CF-4s, also have purchased another set of K-52-tis. What I originally wanted to do is use the k-52s as my mids, and utilize the k-63s as my tweeters. Haven't bought the woofers or crossovers yet. Should I scrap my idea and just buy some woofs and networks and build a set of CF-4 replicas or go with my original idea???? Any input and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks, Sam [:|]
  19. About 15 to 30. On my days off they are always on for some ambient noise, but they get about an hour or two of enjoyable listening at least every other evening[]
  20. I'm happy with my Heresys, but I'm just getting started [] Almost have all the drivers for my next set. Maybe I'll stop there and maybe I've have another beer and think about it:)
  21. Nice snag, I'm envious. Hats of to the nice selection of music. I'm sure you'll get alot of enjoyment out of your Khorns
  22. Formica, Thanks alot for the files with the sketchs and dimensions. With a little luck I may get to sawing up some lumber with a month. If so I'll post some pics of the progress. By the way wouldn't have any Jubilee or Khorns blueprints lying around, would ya???? Thanks again, Sam
  23. My dimensions are slightly larger than the Heresy III. 24.5"h x 15.5"w x 14"d. I know the Heresy family low end quits around 50 hz, so with the suggestion of a PR from the gentleman I bought my mids from, thought that I would give it a try. After first experimenting with the passive bolted to a piece of material I'd rather not mention, the difference was quite noticeable. Then it was time to cut a hole in the walnut rear and screw the PR into its final resting place. Don't have a decibel meter yet but when I snag one I'll post some results to where the bottom end ends
