  1. Killer deal all together... [Y] Mac and Klipsch do make a great pairing... As mentioned, just sit back, relaxing and enjoy. I wouldn't worry about upgrading anything on the speakers just yet. Have fun and rock out, remember turn it up..... James
  2. Neither, Klipsch did not design them to match other companies speakers. James
  3. Rob, I understand what your receiver manual said about bi-amping and bi-wiring but that is not total true. Take a look at the links that I provided about about bi-amping and bi-wiring. For a true bi-amping you would need active crossovers and separate amps driving each speaker. Other then that it is just, passive bi-amping as each speaker is still getting the full range signal. For speaker wire you don't have to spend a pay check on them. Check out the local Radio Shack, Home Depot, or on-line at MonoPrice. James
  4. No problem, enjoy the new setup and have fun. When the time comes for the sub just take a look in the "Subwoofer" section for help. When you get everything setup take some pictures and post them in the "Home Theater" section. Here is a link... James
  5. MCP, So have they convinced you yet? If not, Do it, Do it... You can't go wrong with a pair of Cornwalls, if they are local that's even better since you don't have to worry about shipping. As long as the price is right, you can turn around and sell them if you are not completely happy with them. I currently have 2 pairs in about the same size room you are talking about and they sound great, I'm sure if they had more room to breath they would sound even better. I really like that I can turn up the volume, not even half way, and do other things around the house and still hear them loud and clear. James
  6. That is tough.. With not a lot of movies or music recorded for 7.1 it really is a toss up. I would say that since you currently have the XB-10 for your 4th and 5th channel that they would be the perfect fit for the 6th and 7th. This would make all the surround speakers the same, an even and smooth transition. Now if you like to spend some money go for the XL-23, we always like to spend other peoples money. Then once you have everything setup you can play with the placement, if you want them as your 4th and 5th channel or they sound better as the 6th and 7th. I am not an expert at all in 7.1, I am just thinking that all the surround speakers matching would be the best setup. Kind of like having the front three speakers matching, the best front stage you can have... James
  7. Wow, after looking at the XF-48 setup I think you can use any of those speakers as the last 2 channels for a 7.1 setup. If you have the room, another pair of XF-48 can be used for you surrounds and move those current surrounds to the rear surrounds. Or you can get another pair of the XL-23. Since these can be used as LCR, they can be used for surrounds. Then the last, the XB-10. If cost was the issue then a pair of these would be great. Then you would have 2 pairs of XB-10's in the setup. What is the current setup you have for the XF-48 setup? What is that setup missing that you want to go to 7.1? Do you have budget for these last two speakers? James After all that I almost forgot... WELCOME TO THE FORUM.....
  8. I have to agree.. If you are going to put a picture up then leave the decorator version cause at least that shows the speaker is mounted from inside the cabinet, unlike the Heresy II. James
  9. Since the topic changed to web pictures... Amy how come there are different views of each speaker but no view of the backs? I think that would help with questions on how to mount speakers, it will show if it just has the keyhole or both keyhole and threaded insert. James
  10. Problem is he doesn't have the amp yet. He was thinking about getting it and started to ask the question on how to hook it up. At the moment he just has the receiver with no pre-outs. James
  11. Welcome to the forum. Great setup you got and at a very good price... I think if you are currently happy with the directional speakers there isn't going to be a major difference for the 6th and 7th channel. So get the RF-83 for your front speakers and move the RF-82 to the surrounds and the RB-81 to the back surrounds. Post some pictures when you have everything set up... James
  12. My gf and I were just talking about Moody Blues two days ago. She saw them some time ago and mentioned it after lunch on the way home as a song was on the radio. I'll have to tell her they are coming in concert. James
  13. I know what you mean, I have my RF-83's set to large and can really hear and feel it when I turn it up... I'm running separates, Outlaw 950 pre/pro with an Outlaw 750 amp with the amp rated at 165 wpc. Technically it's not really Bi-Amping, since you have it I would say try it single and see what you think. I just posted the comments from a Klipsch engineer about Bi-Amping and Bi-Wiring, he wrote and posted it some time ago. James
  14. How do you have the RF-83's setup in the receiver? If you want change the setting to "Large" or "Full", I don't know how the 1019 describes it, and see how you like the sound. This will send the full range to your RF-83's and should/will produce bass. James
  15. Not that anyone will care, but I forgot to add... 2 RG6 runs to each location (6 total) 1 Cat 6 wire to each location for use with the RG6 if need be (3 wires) 1 Cat 6 wire to each location specifically for phone jacks (3 wires) So, add 12 more wires to the mix for an approximate total of 40 existing wires AND...lest I forget... I still need to get one (probably two) HDMI wires to string across but I need to measure for those still. Don't want to pay for an extra 5' if I'm just going to stuff it into the wall cavity as excess length. WOW..... That"s a lot of wiring but better safe then sorry. I hope that covers all the options that you have currently and for future changes. Are you getting the wiring from MonoPrice? I just might have to finally take that trip down to see and hear this room after you finish. James
  16. I believe those are being supported by a threaded insert in the back of the speaker. Some have both the key hole and threaded inserts as mounting options. I just found these on MonoPrice, they hold 10 lbs. which the S1 are rated at 5 lbs I believe. Check them out, in the description they say you can mount them to speakers just using the keyholes. I would read thru the reviews to see if anyone had mounted them that way and what their out come was. James
  17. So any more work done? Which direction did you go? James
  18. Welcome to the forum. You found a great pair of mounts for what you need. I would use the ones that "clamp" the speakers, as long as the S1 fits in the clamp that is a great ideal plus the added benefit of being able to angle the speaker. I wouldn't remove the keyhole mount on the back of the speaker and use those same holes to hold the speaker. The main thing would be is the spacing on that mount that you show, or any, would have to match up exactly. What are the other speakers in your 5.1 setup? Post some pictures when everything is up and running, we always like to see pictures. James
  19. Have fun, sounds like a lot of driving so far. I hope you have the camera snapping away on the journey. James
  20. Congrats on the new amp and at a great price. If I didn't have one already I would have jump all over it. James
  21. Like Jrod mentioned. There is no way to add an external amp to your current receiver. You would need to purchase a receiver that has pre-outs in order to connect the amp, no way around it. James
  22. Sorry to say but you are correct, that Pioneer receiver doesn't have pre-outs. So you will have to purchase a new receiver or a pre to use with a new external amp. James
  23. I hope you do get it. At that price I would get it just to try it out, it just might hold you over with the upgrade bug. I purchased a used 750 a few years ago and paid almost 3 times that price. I have the 750 for my HT setup which consists of RF-83, RC-64 and RS-62, the 750 replaced my Outlaw 7100. James
  24. Congrats on the Corns... Do you have any pictures of the new speakers? We always love to see pictures of new speakers. I had a Marantz 2238B hooked up to my Vert Corns until I found my Mac gear. You will be fine with the 2250B receiver. just sit back and try not to piss off the neighbors too much. James
