  1. ME KHORNS ARE LOADED IN THE OLE VEHICLE, Which is pointin in the direction of Hope... See ya'll soon, Paul
  2. I am bringing my Khorns to Hope, and would love to hear how it sounds with the amp. I would seriously consider the amp if they sound great.
  3. Has anyone heard of the possiblity of a player that will play: DVD, HD-DVD, BLUE RAY, DVD-A, SACD, CD, HDCD, ETC..... I'm sure that it would be expensive at first, but they would prob. be $50 at ?Walmart in the near future. It gets old new formats coming out, noncompatible with current units....
  4. Man, we need the rain down here in Texas bad. Everybody face all of the speakers to the southeast and then turn em up real loud. It might blow the clouds down here instead.
  5. How much are new Khorns here. I can honestly say I've never even seen a new pair. Mine are obviously used (but wonderful). Also, what ballpark are the Jubilee's going to be in ?
  6. Any idead how much it would cost to have them shipped. I have no idea.
  7. Are you, or anyone near you, going to Hope? If so, I will buy them. I live in Texas, so obviously driving up there would be out of the question. Let me know if you could bring them there. Thanks
  8. We should all say a quick prayer for the safety for all of us coming and goin to Hope this weekend. As recent posts have shown, life is fragile. What a blessing it is for all of us to be able get together and do what we love. God Bless, Paul
  9. When exactly will people be out there setting the gear up? I think I am coming in late on Thursday and can bring the Khorns out there and help everyone set up on Friday. Any firm details on timeframe yet? Paul
  10. Message sent, Please check PM. Thanks for all of your work on this, Paul
  11. I sent you a PM earlier today. I am interested in the amp if someone else is not. Are you bringing it to Hope? I am bringing my Khorns up there too. Also, contact me about when you are going if you are interested in carpooling. I am probably leaving late Thursday after work, coming back on Sunday. Thanks, Paul.
  12. Please let me know. I have four boys myself. If anything ever happen to me, I know I would sure want some help for them. I can only speak for myself, but many others have offered help also. See what you can find out. Maybe an account could be set up at a local bank there. If you then could place routing numbers for that account, it probably would be possible for people to wire money or send in checks to that bank in his name. This would probably be the most secure way. I'm sure the local bank there has set up similar accounts in the past. I realize that the saddness and shock of such a huge loss is only now starting to sink in there. It is difficult to think about much else about now, but at some point, you could find all of that stuff out. God Bless, Paul Redman
  13. Crystal, This is the first time that I have read about this. I am so sorry for the loss of your uncle, he sounded like a wonderful man, and obviously shared a passion for life and his family. Times like this do remind us all about how precious and fragile life really is. I know that myself and many others would love to help out any way that we can. One of these messages mentioned a graduation. Is his son going to college or other type of school. Is there a scholarship fund set up already or could one be set up that I could donate to. Please post any info on this forum and let me know, I would love to help in some way. We will also keep everyone in our prayers. I know that during these times in life, only the comfort that comes from Christ really helps me in the end. Paul Redman
  14. Trey, do you somehow think that all of the rest of us on this forum are not "REAL AUDIO GEEKS?' See you next weekend, "Artificial Audio Geek", Paul
  15. Hey Rob and Linda, I'm a first timer also, also planning on going to Hope. If you haven't found a room yet, I found one at Days Inn for a good price. You might give them a call. Hope to meet you there. Paul Redman
  16. I'm not sure if you have arranged to have the trailer picked up yet. I will be coming from Waco with a Ford Excursion that can pull any trailer needed. I have all the hookups, etc. I also have several uncovered trailers that I would be happy to bring if anything needed to be brought up on them. One of them is a car hauler and could haul just about anything. Let me know if you I can help. Paul
  17. Hey guys, I could bring my Khorns and/or LaScalas if you guys wanted me to. They are all original. I am just starting to think about what mods I may want to do.[:|] Let me know if there is an interest, and I can bring them up to hook up.[8] I have a huge vehicle, and could still possibly squeeze in the Bose's (JUST KIDDING - AGAIN)!@#$%^&[] Haulin' with the Horns,[au] Pablo[H] PS, DWI LAWYER FROM AUSTIN, LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT CARPOOLING
  18. Since I'm not bringin the bose speakers... If I were to bring my Khorns, would there be other gear to hook them up to. They have not had any mods added to them. It might give a chance to hear diff. types of Khorns. I don't know if there will be any room in the farmhouse for extra stuff or not. Let me know, Paul
  19. I know, I obviously was not going to bring those old pieces of junk. I was merely being sarcastic ( I have a sick sense of humor). Even my wife doesn't always get it, oh well. Seriously though, will there be any khorns that have been modded. I am wanting to make some changes to mine.
  20. STUPID QUESTION TIME FROM NEWBY ALERT: What do mean by getting the room right? ; , angling of the speakers, wall treatments, etc?
  21. Hey, I live in Waco Texas, and don't have anywhere easy to go to listen to some of these mods that people talk about on the forum. Does anyone think that some modded Khorns will be at the Pilgrimige? Paul
  22. But these Bose's are the really big 8 x 6 inchers. You guys must have thought that I meant the little ones. [] In reality, I had them as rear channels back in college. When I lived in San Antonio about 12 years ago, my wife supprised me and told me I could/should get some LaScalas. They were for sale by a guy whose wife was making him sell them because they were too big. So I bought the LaScalas, and then I went with him to buy a Bose surround set. I felt so sorry for the dude. It felt like we were bringing a Rolls down to the the YUGO shop for a trade in. He seemed really sad, but what can I say, I married better than he did![] Also, I gather that people will be bringing their tube amps and some Khorns. I have never had a chance to hear that combo, it would be fun. The Bose offer is still open, but I'm gathering that nobody is that thrilled about hearing them, oh well.
  23. Dean, thanks again for your excellent and patient answers. I am going to try to give you a call, but I keep having emergencies pop up. Yesterday I had to do 2 unexpected surgeries. Do you have any idea if anyone at the Pilmgrimige ( that is the hardest word for me to spell$%&*#@ for some reason) will have anything with your crossovers in them? Yeah, putting the Carver in and out of line will be easy to do to hear what changes that makes. Like I said before, I can't afford to go in and change all the stuff at one time. It has taken me 12 years to gather all of the stuff I have so far. It sure is fun to tweek stuff around though. Thanks again, Paul
  24. Terry, your message confused me... Do you need me to bring the Bose's or not, I'm pretty sure I know which box they are in. Plus, if I brought them maybe someone could show me how to tri amp them with some tube monoblock amps. Do you think a new set of ALK OR ALK JR's might work on them? I'm glad you seem so excitable, I mean excited, about the big bad bose's. Paul
  25. Dean, thanks for all of your patient explanations. So, if I understand you, the ALK Jr's will go into either the khorns or the lascalas? The unit that is listed on line, would that be the passive part that is used on the upper part of the khorn for the mid and highs? Does the lower portion behind the panel on the lower part of the khorn have to be changed out too? I'm a newbie at all of this, and have very little electrical "tinkering" experience. Is this changeout something that can be explained or shown of directions. I am good at tinkering with things, but this is new stuff for me. In regards to what you said... My khorns and lascalas sound good when loud, but only kinda good when at lower levels. Is the differences that a set of ALK JR's might fix.... My room is somewhat small, and I listen in multichannel about as often as I do pure 2 channel. I have a very diverse spectrum of likes in music, pure audio, movies, etc. Also, on different subject... How much different is using a seperate amp, like my Carver, vs. using the amps in my good but hardly McIntosh like Yamaha reciever. I would like to upgrade someday to something like a good McIntosh or try some tubes, but alas, $$$ groweth not on ze trees.... Do you think that redoing the passives is a good place to go from here. I have pretty come to the conclusion that I would be more able to pull off doing that better than setting up biamps. As others have said on different threads, there aren't people in Waco that can come and set all of this fun stuff up here. It needs to be something that I can do. Back to amps. Do people very often use something like the Yamaha as a pre/pro and then get a seperate McIntosh or good, older, amp. I like the surround sound aspects of the Yamaha or similar and do not have the space or budget to do a different 2 channel room. I guess I want it all, now, for free..... Oh well, that won't happen, but do you think that the passives would be a good starting point. Thanks again for all of the help.
