  1. Was Boxx’s playlist shown? I haven’t seen it and I’d love to know what it included (although i’m sure i’ll have all the tunes. I often teased Boxx suggesting that he was using my music library). Steve
  2. Your Dad was all over the forum; but, he was a staple in the Right This Minute thread. That thread is just what you’d guess … sharing what you are listening to Right This Minute. Of course there is other conversation and banter there; but, also a good introduction to new bands, new LPs, and good camaraderie. You’ll be most welcome.
  3. Good Evening Alex … I hope your Dad knew how beloved he was here. Sadly, we often fail to tell others how much they mean to us. I’m guilty of that. Talked on this forum to your Dad more times than i can count. NEVER had a harsh word with him--every conversation a good one. I became ashamed of myself when i realized the other day, that of all the times we talked, i don’t recall ever telling your Dad how much i enjoyed his company. He was always here and we got along, shared music information, joked around, and I guess i took it for granted that he knew. Like i said, we never had a harsh word; but, that’s not good enough--I should have told him. Now i’m stuck with just hoping that he knew. Boxx was on my friend’s list from the very beginning of the friend’s list -- i’d like to keep it that way. Very glad that Michael was able to represent us today. We like him too. Thought id share with you a post that your Dad wrote to a fellow forum member that had just announced that he was not only terminally ill; but, was entering the final stages of his life. He was grieving at the thought of leaving his son behind. Not many words; but, not many required. Peace always -- your Dad must have believed that possible … and I’m sure that he’d wish that for you too. Join in on forum discussions when you feel comfortable. 4. hope your feeling better these days my friend. steve
  5. Way to go Michael … can’t think of a better person to represent us, and i mean that. Go ahead and try to be snarkicious (i just invented that word) but, some people are just of good character they can’t hide it -- you’re one of those. Thank you very much for the description of the service. I wish i could have been there to pay my respects--Boxx was one of those good ones too. I remember a while back being in a PM conversation with Boxx and two other forum members. A forum member which will remain nameless had been quite rude to one of them (not Boxx) the previous night. We couldn’t figure out what brought on this sudden viciousness. Even while discussing this privately, Boxx never said a disparaging word about this individual. Very sincere and very genuine. We lost a good one. Thanks again Brother.
  6. Clearly your dear Eldon hasn’t told you about me.
  7. Actually, it's a selfish gesture, since I'd like to see Kent post a photo of these (and dtel's BS button) adorning his chair, or further explain his "Hope, Arkansas style" surrogate legs... nothing wrong with some shameless self-promotion every now & then.
  8. Here’s my five minute guitar lesson … crank up the amp so loud their ears bleed -- then act like you know what you’re doing after that. years ago, on this very forum, Colter quoted one of the guys from Deep Purple…”make everything louder than everything else.” I still love that line. Chuck -- i’m not meaning to question your teaching skills; but, i caused a fire while boiling water. You don’t want me as a student, at least not in YOUR kitchen.
  9. Way to go Chuck...looks good. If you want to see my cooking...take a look at a lump of coal or some other type of mess. You guys are sure talented.
  10. we’ll certainly take that under advisement.
  11. Hey Paul...Forget audio -- you’re from London. Now THAT’S cool. Hope you stick around here--although your time zone doesn’t help…being in southern california, most of this forum is in bed by the time i get around to logging on. You’re probably just getting up and heading to work. Hope you enjoy your Reference system.
  12. i think you must be a pretty cool dude yourself. you got a woman to stay with you all these years … i failed at that. Plus, you’re a moderator--the powers that be around here trust you…at work, i once was told i couldn’t speak to anyone outside of our organization without having my words approved by management. Just keep being you--that seems to be working fine.
  13. Yes, I have no idea why she picked that name for the forum ? i remember her from a couple of years back … her avatar looked a lot better than yours though--what does she see in you? Must be the cool hat.
  14. Nice gesture Chris … very cool of you to offer those to Kent.
  15. Der? way to go Oldtimer--you just raised the IQ of this place.
  16. we were in a Ford Ranger Sport. However, i just realized that the amount is slightly higher as we started the trip with a full tank of gas. I’m not sure how much is in the tank now (not my vehicle) but, let’s say we started with $45 (full tank). So, probably a fairer amount would be $110 in gas. Anyway, we started with a full tank and put $77 more in gas along the way. I think the cheapest I saw was $3.25. I didn’t want to drive initially because i have a back injury and i thought 8 hours each way was going to be too uncomfortable--when i saw how much the airlines were going to gauge me just because i needed to fly the next day--i decided to ride along with my brother.
  17. Yet, villages are diminishing at the same rate as the growth of this forum. Draw your own conclusions.McLuhan was spot on in his medium is the message thinking. The same audio advice given here would be believed/accepted at a much rate than if posted on Facebook. To many, there is a certain degree of instant credibility here regarding audio topics. They’ll believe the message if they believe the messenger.

that’s okay if it was a jigsaw puzzle.
  20. Welcome. Your Dad was very liked and respected here. I “talked” to him often on this forum and always enjoyed it. I’m glad you’re reading the posts so you can see how much he meant to this place … and i hope that he knew it too. Very Kindly.
  21. Mark this day on your calendar … Thebes was right! (sorry Marty, still paying you back for those Beatles comments). Thebes wrote in the thread regarding our departed friend Boxx, advising his son that time would heal the wounds (or a similar sentiment). This thread here was started by the late Oldbuckster--he left us a few years ago. I miss the guy; but, smiled seeing that cranky old avatar again. Just drove 1000 miles up and down California for $77 in gas. Smiling because I nearly spent $414 on a plane ticket and at last minute decided to drive.

Welcome John … nothing wrong with Synergy. I have Heritage. I also have Synergy F3 setup as well. I’ve never been ashamed of the synergy or thought they sounded bad. I’m sure you’ll do fine here and i hope you like the place. I will warn you that people are pretty free expressing their opinions; but, they’re a nice group.
  23. I help people...thats just what i do.
