  1. do you think this show has jumped the shark? I do. Heard on tv this morning that ellen degeneres (why they picked her as a judge i don't know) is fuming mad at simon cowell because he arrived late on her first day on set.
  2. there is a rumor going round that Devo album Are We Men or Are We Devo--was originally to be called Are We Men or Are We Thebes?
  3. Hello Tarheel--and everyone. I hope you and your family are well. I'm hanging in there still. The stress finally got to me and my streak of one minor cold in the past eight years took a hit. woke up yesterday with a horrible sore throat. stayed home from work today. funny, i can handle injuries fine; but, i'm a baby when it comes to sickness. want to be better by friday, so i can drive to my brother's house (100 miles) and go with him saturday morning to pick up a pair of cornwalls that he's buying. He is very excited. take care my friends, time for me to go get another cup of hot tea with honey. Steve p.s. any of you going to the pilgramige this summer? if i can get time off work, i'm thinking about going for the first time.
  4. i was wondering what you were thinking giving a thumbs up to a colts victory prediction. Maybe if Klipsch offers a nice discount if the colts win the superbowl--would you root for them then?
  5. I cant imagine the commissioner not sending out a healthy fine to the defensive player for the hit below the knees. I still think it will happen. But I guess you just have your players hit the quarterback whether he has the ball or not and take the penalties. Cause it wont be long and he wont be able to continue. I don't think there will be any fines. I honestly don't think it was a cheap shot (no the saints aren't my team either). It is arguable whether that play even violates the new rule of not hitting below the knees. generally, the refs are going to the extreme to protect a QB--not only didn't they throw a flag, i didn't even see them discussing it. as far as hits go--that one was actually kinda weak. question here: did brett complain about it? i haven't heard any coach or player even mention it.
  6. I want to come; but, i'll need a ride.
  7. Happy Birthday Ace. 30 years old--kids on the forum, huh guys? I'd tip one in your honor; but, as you know, my pancreas is mad at me from my 30 years of drinking. But, if it helps...this diet coke is for you my friend. Thanks for the well wishes Ben--sadly, the shoulder is getting a little worse all the time. It's to the point now that there is some pain and/or discomfort even when not using the arm. previously, it was excrutiating pain only when my arm was outstretched. i still can't reach for things; but, am starting to have a small amount of pain even when not moving the arm at all. I'm beginning to prepare myself mentally, that I will probably have the surgery in the near future. Tarheel--hope you and your wife are both doing great. And I hope you all are drier than we are out west. A solid week of rain--my gosh, i thought i paid outrageous housing cost so i could have great weather year-round. Take care my friends, Steve
  8. I'd like to come out from California; but, need to put in request for time off work. Any idea when you'll have the dates cast in stone? Steve
  9. Thanks Ace & Hunt--I have a pretty high tolerance for pain. Been living with four herniated disks for years (two in neck and two in back). Broke four ribs last year when I got ran over. But, I'll tell ya--this hurts. Worse part is that it is my dominant arm, so there are so many things that I instinctively try to do now. I think i will run the course of therapy; but, if that doesn't work, i think i'll let the doctor do his thing. I'm only 49; but, then again, I'm 49--who knows how many are left--i sure don't want to spend the rest of my days in this pain.
  10. Good evening gentlemen-can't brag about the beautiful southern california weather today-it rained all day long and it was very windy as well. forecast calls for heavy rain through friday. did i fall asleep and wake up in seattle or something? met with the ortho surgeon today, i would bet my paycheck that the guy would have cut me open right there in his office if I would have let him. he seemed very eager to operate on my shoulder. i told him i wanted an MRI and to finish physical therapy and he said, "I don't need an MRI to operate on you." in his defense, he was under the impression that meds & therapy had failed. He cleared me to resume therapy (therapist had stopped for fear of doing further damage); but, told me that I still may need surgery if the physical therapy doesn't help. He can tell that the rotator cuff is only partially torn (if torn at all). there is a big bone spur??? that grinds the tendon into another bone every time i raise my arm. he wants to go in and grind that down some so the impingement will stop.
  11. don't get me wrong guys--i wasn't saying he wasn't playing well. my point was just that i'm tired of hearing the retirement talk at the end of every year. it's like the guy that keeps telling you that he'll give you a good deal on his mint condition khorns--then when you say that you'll buy them, he decides to keep them. after the third time, you don't want hear it anymore--sell them to me or stop telling me that they're for sale.
  12. So Brett Farve tells ESPN that "...this could be my last game." How many times do we have to hear that? I seriously think that guy has become an attention-*****. He wants to be the talk of the off season again and I really don't know if I can sit through another off season of "will brett be back or not?" talk on the radio. On the bright side, if he pulls this stunt again and the media is sure to fall for it again, it will definitely drive me back to music on my drive to work and during lunch.
  13. Tom, you ever thought about putting those words to music? Might make a good song. Steve
  14. i agree completely. i would guess that we won't be seeing any players that are going to be playing in the superbowl??? if the colts will pass on an undefeated season, why would they send peyton out there the week before the superbowl. i don't know who had this brilliant idea; but, WHAT ARE THEY THINKING.....actually they're thinking with their wallets.
  15. Good for you Ace--I'm happy for you. Funny thing, my brother sent me a text about those yesterday(Vegas is about 3 hours from him and 4 or so from me). We're both in the market for some CW or LaScalas. I sent him a return text saying that we could be in vegas by dinner; but, he didn't bite. i'm glad now, would have hated to have spoiled this for you. I just spent a few hours this morning, scouring the local pawn shops and thrift stores hoping to find one of those once in a lifetime deals--no luck. saw a post on another forum where this guy claimed to have bought a pair of cornwall IIs in near mint condition for $50 from some thrift store.
  16. besides my beloved Raiders, i really like both the Colts and the Saints; however, i'm rooting for both to lose today. i just have such a dislike for that philosophy of taking your foot off the gas at the end of the season and for that reason alone, i want them both to lose. yeah, that may be an extreme and i understand that it's a management philosophy and not what the players would like. you'd think that indy would have learned their lesson by now. the only year that they didn't let up was the year that they won the superbowl. i guess polian can't connect the dots yet.
  17. hey mate--hope you come through the storms safe & sound.
  18. >This was back when VCR/Beta was new, we paid around $400 for a VCR player only and the few video rental stores that were around had about 30-50 movies if you were lucky. Man does that bring back memories. I paid $500 for a betamax back around 1980, the thing was as big as a suitcase, one of those top loading jobs. blank tapes were $20, and it cost $7 per night to rent a movie. My how times have changed.
  19. Hi Gents--beautiful, and i mean beautiful day in SoCal. Ate my breakfast down at the beach--it sure doesn't feel like winter. Sadly, I heard that it will rain all next week. just returned from physical therapy. Therapist discontinued treatment. He suspects torn rotator cuff and is sending me back to the doc for confirmation. Just sent the doc an email requesting she authorize an MRI to figure this out. On the bright side, just got an unexpected $500 check from insurance company, repaying me my co-payments to the doctor after my accident. that sure made me happy, i'm looking for some cornwalls and that will go a long way paying for them. have a great night my friends. Steve

    The Blind Side

i finally saw it on New Year's Eve. I liked it as well. I just learned from one of the people that trace your roots, that one of my great-grandfathers was the seventh Chancellor of Ole Miss. So, i was glad that Michael Oher choose Ole Miss. Now, if he'd just go to my beloved Oakland Raiders.
  21. i saw the first one--a guilty pleasure, i must admit.
  22. You were at the beach, what a surprise we would have never guessed. Let's see, they keep the water there, you need water to make waves = BSM. Dtel--you've been talking to my boss or something? For the record, i wasn't technically at the beach--I just parked on Pacific Coast Highway and watched the waves for a little while. That's my therapy actually. The ocean is very peaceful place for me--especially when the waves are big. (yeah, I know that doesn't make sense; but, then that's why I want to go for a ride-along with that guy on the Storm Chasers tv show. That's looks like so much fun).
