  1. Viva Orville Redenbacher (or however you spell his name).
  2. This might be long; but, how about: "A place where guys can read and write about audio stuff because they've gone deaf." Our motto can be "Nothing is safe here--not even your hearing." Or am I the only one that tests the volume limits of his speakers? I might be going deaf; but, at least i did it listening to great speakers.
  3. Taking a trip down memory lane. I remember way back when having the albums Machinehead and Burn; but, I'd forgotten how good these guys were. That song Lazy is totally awesome! As I write this I'm listening to-- Come on, Come on, Come on...Space Truckin Any other Deep Purple fans in the forum? I've talked to many of you before, so I'm not afraid of "dating" myself. I lived in the greatest decade of Rock-n-Roll and I don't think I'll ever tire of listening to the rock of the 70s.
  4. Happy Birthday--looks like you had a great time.
  5. a shameless thread start to commemorate my 777th post.
  6. many people say that phil only wins because he inherits good teams; but, he won in the CBA, Jordan & the Bulls didn't win with doug collins as coach, Shaq & Kobe weren't winning with del harris--both teams started winning after phil arrived. someday lebron will be where kobe is now. kobe's experience is what is keeping him slightly in the lead.
  7. YES, sweet victory sounded so much better on my Klipsch.
  8. nope, i've seen every minute of it. and being a lifelong Lakers fan, am quite pleased.
  9. so if we're putting together a balding musicians supergroup, we would have Neal Peart on drums Pete Townshend and Joe Satriani on guitars Tony Levin on bass Ian Anderson on flute/vocals Peter Gabriel on vocals We need a keyboard player. I wonder if Rick Wakeman has been wearing a wig?
  10. Like I've never heard that before , jeeeez .Actually Tom--I suck, as I ended up going to McDonalds!
  11. Will you bring the Belles with you?
  12. Wow, great post and very deep too. You are probably right, though. We should also eliminate from possible discussion topics covering: heart disease (600k deaths per year), cancer (560k deaths per year) etc etc etc. Want to talk about corvettes? Sorry, there are over 40,000 automobile deaths per year and this is just too sensitive a topic for my thin skin. 5 minutes to Miller time? I don't think so, Tim. 15,000+ deaths each year are due to drunk driving. Don't forget, what I'll call Electrolust. Everytime I read about someone having a set of Belles--it drives crazy. And the KHorns, LaScallas, and Cornwalls--don't even get me started on those topics.
  13. i was given the question below, and not being an audio expert by a long shot, figured i could get him a better and more accurate answer from someone on this forum. i have four heresys and i also have synergy F3 system and have been happy with both. I appreciate someone helping me, help someone. I have attempted to put together an economical home audio system. I must qualify myself by saying that while I love good sound I lack the "technical" knowledge of what makes a good product. Specs may as well be written in greek. I have two wall mounted Synergy Series SLX speakers, two B2 Bookshelf speakers and a SC 5 Center channel. The only non-Klipsch speaker I am using is the Onkyo subwoofer that came with the "Out of the Box" set I once had but am still using the Onkyo HT-R340 receiver. The issue I have is this: I have a set of Klipsch ProMedia THX speakers I use on my computer. They sound INCREDIBLE! Why don't I have that same "full" sound on my home audio system? No matter what I do it seems to be lacking the midrange presence I get while rocking out at my computer.
  14. haven't decided yet--it's only 10:36 for us West Coast folks. BUT, I'll probably end up having a burrito--that is what i usually get when i can't decide what to have.
  15. The right to bear arms, that is what sets American women apart from muslim woman--our girls have the right to bare their arms.
  16. Worst officiated game seen for a while--I agree!! Told myself that same exact thing a few minutes ago. However, I disagree with you on that Kobe/Nelson play. Nelson is running in and that was incidental contact. Players have to be allowed to move naturally. Kobe wasn't swinging his elbow to clear space--so, a no call was the right call. Funny that foul by fisher for pushing howard in the back at the same moment howard was pushing gasol to the floor. The guy i feel sorry for is Bynum--that man has three fouls before he even puts his shoes on. In my opinion, the calls were equally bad in both directions. Magic lost because they turn the ball over too much, and missed too many free throws. That's inexperience though, if they can keep the team together, they'll be back and eventually win. BUT, i heard that they are only offering Hedo $7 million next year--he may walk, and you know Cleveland is going to want either him or Odom (Lakers may have to choose between Odom and Ariza).
  17. You got that right. I don't think the word "consistent" is in their vocabulary.
  18. Ohhhh Yes! THE sound of electric blues with big power. Dallas sound early 70's. Thanks Stew. You took me back a few decades. tc TC, might have took you back a few decades; but, that axe is timeless.
  19. Oh yes, I saw tull back in either 1979 or 80. I remember Ian's pose very well.
  20. Okay this might be a weird topic; but, not everyone has Michael Colter hair. I was watching an interview with Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull fame, and he is basically bald. That got me to thinking, traditionally rock musicans are known for having long hair; but, some lose that hair as they age. Thought it would be fun to list some bald or balding musicians. I'll start the list with: Ian Anderson--Jethro Tull
  21. Good catch Islander. I think my first choice of guitars would be a 1959 Les Paul Standard--Heritage Cherry Burst with Gold Top.
  22. I'm not a member of facebook, myspace, or any other social networking site; but, i don't find it inappropriate. Sometimes I feel like talking to someone without having to interact with them (if that makes any sense). Probably just one of the young man's ways of coping with the loss of his dad. I did the same thing here on this forum a couple of months ago when my Mom died. I would find it inappropriate if it was done to notify close friends or relatives though.
  23. Vegas was kind to me to the tune of $2900, so I bought a canon eos digital camera (not sure the exact model but it's a decent camera). Anyway, after work thursday, i'm heading to my brother's place out in the desert. friday morning we'll drive up the coast to Monterey and slowly work our way along the coast back to southern california. we're definately stopping in big sur, spending the night in morro bay, and pismo beach (nostaglic stop as that was our childhood vacation spot). we're both bringing our cameras. i turned him on to Klipsch and he says he's never enjoyed music more than he does now. In fact, on our last road trip, instead of listening to the stereo in the truck, we listened to the igroove instead. we're both looking forward to getting away for a few days.
  24. james, maybe you can play the highlights of the Lakers beating the Magic. Sorry buddy, couldn't resist. I wish you were closer to SoCal as that sounds like a fun day. Hope you have a great time. Steve
  25. anything with whoopi goldberg or barbara streisand. although my bro-in-law and I drank an obscene amount of beer one day after work. the wives wanted to go to the movies--Peter O'Toole's My Favorite Year. Midway through the movie, my brother in law, pukes right there in his seat. didn't even try to get up and run to the restroom. naturally we left the theatre. In the car, my sister is chewing him out for drinking so much and he replied, "It wasn't the alcohol. It was that movie, it was so bad it made me sick." I do admit, watching him puke him public was more entertaining than the movie.
