  1. A couch? Luxury! I dreamed of having a couch. There were 12 of us living in a small shoebox. (any monty python fans out there?)
  2. That would be great Kaiser...............May is nice here, and we could take the Silver Bullet out.........Yeah Man Stew, when your ready I'll give you my phone number, and we can go from there.........you into Bikes, or Cars ? I absolutely love bikes; however, i've never drove one. rode on em though. watch all those chopper builder shows and wonder how cool that would be. a big guy like me riding on the back of a motorcycle doesn't do much for me in the macho image category. my biggest concern is the weather in the summer actually. i've been blessed with asthma and high heat & humidity are torture. i did ok for the five years that the coast guard had me living in michigan though. kaiser--if i encounter any ice on this trip, we're all in a world of hurt. this is to celebrate my 25th wedding anniversary. both me and the wife have already been to hawaii--she enjoys relaxing by the pool, i like being out on the water--so we decided to take a cruise there. a little pricey, we got a mini-suite since we'll be onboard for two-weeks, got our own balcony and a sitting room, 2 tv, etc... i'm hoping for good weather and seas (although a small part of me hopes for at least one day of high seas!)
  3. Oldbuckster--i may take you up on that offer someday. how will i find you? should i just listen for the loudest and sweetest sounding classic rock and follow the tunes to your klipsch? you folks have been getting hit real hard lately--hope things warm up soon. I guess you'll enjoy spring more than the rest of us (except for me during the 15 days i'll be on a boat in the middle of the pacific ocean enroute hawaii). be careful.
  4. i very rarely buy and have never sold anything on ebay, so i guess i'm a little inexperienced in these matters. what can a crook do with your ebay password? i'm not understanding why someone would want it.
  5. i spent the winter of 1978 based out of sault ste. marie, michigan working on an icebreaking ship on lake michigan and lake superior. was a pretty intense winter, although i had nothing to compare it to. coming from southern california, i reported to the ship at the end of october and didn't even own a coat. day one, right after work, i went into town and bought one. never have visited new york, although it is on my list of places to visit before i die. always thought that the period between thanksgiving and Christmas would be a good time to visit. Brisk air and the city all decorated. ok, i'm sounded like a tourist now. Regards, Steve
  6. oldbuckster--how long have you lived in upstate ny, and how does this bout compare with other storms over the years?
  7. I know Trey. Besides, there is one day of each month that i hate living out here--mortgage payment day! They get some real sick prices for real estate out here. Which is probably why I don't have KHorns yet.
  8. Ok colter, should we ban this one now or later? [] Trey--just because it snowed inside of your vehicle is no reason to take it out on me--i hope that was the frostbite talking. perhaps my sense of humor isn't as funny in sub-zero temps, and i may be deserving of being banned--but you'll never be able to make me listen to bose!
  9. i feel for you klipsch brothers in that area. I, too, had a most difficult drive to work this morning. I seemed to have misplaced my sunglasses and the sun was shining so bright that it made driving quite challenging. it's a crisp 63 degrees--but, no talk of snow. I'm sure that if i turn on the local news we'll be under some sort of "Storm Watch." In all seriousness, be careful. I lived in Michigan for several years and worked on an ice-breaking ship while in the Coast Guard, so I do sympathize. Mr. Colter, perhaps you should schedule a meeting to discuss relocating klipsch to beautiful southern california. in addition to great weather, driving along the beautiful pacific ocean on your way to work is rather relaxing in itself.
  10. RPlace--congrats on making good beer. I've tried twice and both were horrible. We have a place in Huntington Beach that you go there and make the beer. They give you the recipe for the type of beer you want, they have all the equipment, etc... mine turned out very bitter. Tried again at home with one of those home kits, followed directions exactly (yes, I had witnesses) turned out tasting like apple cider. Decided to leave it to the pros.
  11. I highly recommend an Italian eatery called Bataglia's Hole in the Wall. It is a couple blocks off the strip on whatever cross road Balley's is on. It is the best Italian place I have ever been to. You get all the wine you can drink with dinner! good call Capo...i've heard that place is fantastic. I heard a couple of guys that host a sports radio talk show mention that they've eaten there. Last time I went to Imperial Palace, they had the blackjack dealers dressed like famous singers. Elvis was dealing me some real nice hands. Fun place.
  12. Saudi Arabia is third on the list of imports amounting to about 20% of the top five import countries from last year. Not exactly very little oil from the middle east. Plus, the price we pay is based on the world market, not just where it comes from. to bigstewman, America has alot of oil coming from the middle east, why is that? It is rather smart of America cause its cheaper to refine the saudi oil hence light sweet, and its from the foreign country meaning you are not ripping the oil that america has out and when the middle east does dry up america still has a supply. The biggest supposed oil country - Russia. Most Canadian oil is non usable as it is in sandoil form which is not cheap to extract and refine. Mexico has big off shore oil, venuzuela is part of opec. China is branching off to Africa and such to get their oil now. China does not have alot of oil. According to the Energy Information Administration the latest stats released on January 16, 2007... The top five exporting countries accounted for 70 percent of United States crude oil imports in November while the top ten sources accounted for approximately 89 percent of all U.S. crude oil imports. The top sources of US crude oil imports for November were Canada (2.065 million barrels per day), Mexico (1.462 million barrels per day), Saudi Arabia (1.444 million barrels per day), Venezuela (1.069 million barrels per day), and Nigeria (0.919 million barrels per day). The rest of the top ten sources, in order, were Iraq (0.589 million barrels per day), Angola (0.505 million barrels per day), Algeria (0.253 million barrels per day), Kuwait (0.253 million barrels per day), and Ecuador (0.243 million barrels per day). Total crude oil imports averaged 9.836 million barrels per day in November, which is a decrease of 0.296 million barrels per day from October 2006. Canada remained the largest exporter of total petroleum products in November, exporting 2.584 million barrels per day to the United States, which was a large increase from last month (2.144 thousand barrels per day). The second largest exporter of total petroleum products was Mexico once again with 1.571 million barrels per day. I was using hyperbole in my earlier post--quite a few people think that we're completely dependent on mideast oil. Is 1.4 million barrels from Saudi Arabia a lot of oil; sure it is. All I'm saying is that we get an awful lot of oil elsewhere. Yes Jay, Venezuela is part of OPEC, sorry for not being clear.
  13. he got four out of 20 right. stevie ray vaughn was amazing! Brian May is exceptional. personally, think jimmy page/stairway to heaven is way overrated, but it makes every list. not much of a showman; but i like steve howe (yes). And Gary Richrath of some 70's REO stuff. Gary is probably the most underrated guitarist.
  14. hope today brought some warmer weather for you folks. it was a very nice day in southern california. i'm actually laying sod on tuesday and was out today leveling the yard. wore a t-shirt and short pants and was very comfortable. maybe that's why we have to pay so much to live here?
  15. USA gets very little oil from the middle east. surprisingly, we get most of our oil from canada, next i think is mexico or venezuela. some far east countries like china are completely dependent on the mid east.
  16. a quick count revealed that i've stayed at 21 different hotels so far. lately, been staying on the strip as my son-in-law is a former pro athlete and has a connection with the Polo Towers--he get's suites for free. Binion's Horseshoe Club is my favorite casino. My next trip, I hope to eat at the China Grill in Mandalay Bay--I hear it is exceptional. I never leave Vegas without eating the grilled lamb at the Aladdin. Haven't been to vegas since July; but reading this thread makes me think it's time to make another trip. Hmmm, it's only about four hours away, I could be playing blackjack by 9:30 pm. Definately a good place for a Forum get together.
  17. I'm sure he meant AFC Championship game. And he is correct. i watched that game. that was an incredible comeback. i'm sure glad that indy won yesterday--peyton deserved it. he's a class act.
  18. yikes! I haven't been to indy since 1979; but, a major credit card won't suffice? things sure have changed.
  19. hey buddy, your choice of coffee is better than your choice of beer. when i was in the coast guard, we boarded foreign flagged vessels. they'd often offer us something to drink. i tasted some real nasty expresso; but, never served by the likes that you pictured for us.
  20. anyone seen the show beer nutz? they have the ultimate job. they travel around the county and visit brewerys and sample the wares.
  21. i talked to a guy that was a high school teacher in las vegas. he said that valets at the elite hotels make over $50K a year.
  22. i recognize that price. i was beginning to wonder what planet some of these people live on. i fillled up today, the pump shut off automatically at $50 but my truck was still thirsty. I think it was 2.49 a gallon also. i'm in southern california and i know that we have some environmental issues that raise at least 25 cents a gallon.
  23. offer forum members an incredible discount on speakers should the colts win the superbowl??? to make it more interesting, the discount percentage should be the number of points that the colts score.
  24. doc--go west young man! for me, there are few things more relaxing than staring at the beautiful pacific ocean. well, maybe the bright lights of las vegas...
  25. here! here! i am impressed with those i've met on this forum--great place.
