  1. an acquaintance of mine from many, many Years ago. fun guy to talk to -- he was a good storyteller. RIP Don, aka Captain Beefheart. Probably my favorite tune of his; but one the band hated and I believe this was on one of the albums that the Captain encouraged anyone who bought it to return it for a refund. Guess it was too traditional for the band.
  2. kinda like that butcher chick. not a fan of tattoos; but I like her still.
  3. sorry to hear of the loss of your friend Elden and Christy. peace.
  4. is it too late to place a bet? I've gotta hunch.
  5. in case nobody knew, I love prog. any Spock's beard fans here?
  6. I haven't lost as many as you; but I think several years ago in a forum snafu, I lost about 4,000 posts -- and they all were spectacular! hope you are doing alright @Zen Traveler just finished a couple of cold Bitburger Pils. Very good stuff --top three beer in my book.
  7. alright guys, get off of my shoulders already.
  8. Yo Man ... I bought some Bitburger yesterday, had one last night. Also bought some Moosehead and Avion Tequila. just poured a tequila and have a Moosehead on ice. No tunes though. I'm essentially deaf for the next couple of weeks. One hearing aid in the shop getting repaired and the second one is dying fast. Got my tv on 20 or 21 (used to listen at 12) and can't follow a show, have to use the closed captioning. Standing in front of the microwave and couldn't even hear it "ding" saying the food was ready. According to the doctor, I don't hear anything below 70db. Thank God, the VA is giving me new hearing aids (get a new pair every five years); however, I don't get them until September 29th. By then this hearing aid that is on its last leg will likely be completely dead, so the next couple of weeks won't be fun. I did find that if I put the laptop volume on full blast and press my ear against the speaker, I can hear the music. Not a comfortable position; but what else can I do ... read a book? Ha. For the record, I CAN read, I just don't like showing off. Peace guys.
  9. it's got a nice burn when you swallow ... you know, the type where it feels like it's ripping off the surface layer of your throat. highly recommended.
  10. ginger ale; but with a hefty bite to it. no alcohol involved.
  11. yes, I love that stuff, in fact, I was turned onto it by forum member Ben (he has only posted once in the past many years; but our friend Chuck @Tarheelknows Ben too. Ben told me about the Blenheim's with the pink cap, which was the extra stingy one. Sure love that stuff. can't find it where I live now. Used to get it SoCal; but we had a lot to choose from there. Here in Oregon there isn't much of a choice on MANY food and drink items (particularly alcohol). The land of limited choice.
  12. chocolate is pure evil ... may as well join Facebook too.
  13. this is what I was referring to: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2021/08/30/chicago-judge-rules-mom-cant-see-son-not-vaccinated/5647445001/
  14. so we own threads we start? Can I charge rent to post in one of my threads? $20 or two bottles of hot stuff if you want to respond; and thank you for only posting replies that support my point of view.
  15. I drink nothing neat ... I spill every time.
  16. Carl, you seem like a nice guy get one of these: Gonna get a generator may as well get a BIG Generator.
  17. I don't watch any news ... what caused the catastrophic failure of the power grid was it high winds or flooding? Is this a case where we've done all we can; but Mother Nature is just stronger or could New Orleans after the rebuild after Katrina done more to safeguard utilities during future storms? last year, I was without power for about 90 minutes and I was ready to go ballistic.
  18. I doubt that any grieving family gets any peace after an execution. I suspect there is the reality that their loved one is still dead and that the killer's death didn't bring the comfort that they thought it would. I wonder if we were still under the Mosaic Law, where the witnesses had to participate in the execution if that would change a person's mind? I mean, it's one thing for us to sit on our couches and say stuff; but if we had to be the executioner, I suspect many of us wouldn't talk of execution so casually. Question for you Travis @dwilawyer who decides what is cruel or unusual punishment? Is that (definition of cruel and unusual) specified in the state's constitution? I mean, if a crime carries a max punishment of 25 years in prison; however 99.9% of those found guilty only get 10 years; can the person that does get 25 years claim the punishment is unusual since so few receive the max? Perhaps unusual is not legally defined in terms of frequency; but in method? Can the woman that was just denied custody of her child because she is not vaccinated claim that is an unusual punishment? I'm sure judges are constrained somehow; but I hear of some cases where the judge seems to have gone rogue ... stand on the corner and hold a sign admitting your guilt, etc...
  19. Be safe all of you in harm's way. Still don't know how/why you folks do this ... annually or a couple times a year for that matter. I guess I was spoiled growing up in Los Angeles ... all we had to do was worry if we forgot our sunglasses at home and that could make the afternoon drive pretty sketchy. Maybe an Earthquake every 10 - 20 years, some SMOG, gangs, ridiculously overpriced homes; but NO hurricanes or tornados. It must be really nice there the rest of the year for you faithful to stick it out there. Stay well and be careful.
  20. maybe the badges will arrive with the toaster?
  21. I wonder how many word of mouth sales resulted from forum discussions? I know I've recommended Klipsch to someone and they bought Cornwalls -- from a private party though.

  23. yes George, I am well and I pray you are as well. Beginning to get my things in order as I'm moving back to my home state of California. Normally hate moving; but looking forward to this one.
