What ever you do and if the plan is to keep it that way for a considerable amount of time--The best advice I can give is what ever you initially decide, have the option to take it back and try something else. It appears you don't really need to upgrade after you get it set up. My first reaction is you are going to miss the RF-3's as side surrounds. I understand the trade off is nicer furniture. IMO,if you are going to be using either the RS-7's or RB-75's for movies in a 5.1 configuration and aren't considering listening to multi channel music, the RS-7's may be the better choice (especially if you are going to have people sitting basically the whole width of the room. If you have a smaller seating situation where every one watching is within a 6 foot central area, I would think the RB-75's would be better. I truthfully don't think you could make a wrong choice. I hope someone else chimes in and either agrees or disagrees so you have more than one viewpoint. Good luck.

FWIW, In my situation (sitting parallel with the speakers) I tried the RB-75's as side surrounds but still prefer the RF-3's. Notice I raised them off the floor so all of my horns were at ear level and even with my RF-7's. My center and rear speakers are tilted slightly down so I can see down the throat of the horns. In a larger room and using only 1 set of side surrounds with varied seating positions, I can see where the RS-7's could work better (for 5.1 movies). It really is all about preference and room acoustics.

"Better," is a relative term and I don't want to steer you in the wrong direction. IMO, if you are just going to be using these speakers for movies in a large room with several rows of seating (or staggered seating) I would go with the RS-7 WDST speakers. If it is a smaller room with seating parallel to both side surrounds I would opt for the RB-75 book shelf speakers. If you are going to keep a 7.1 configuration, for your rear speakers I would choose the RB-75's and keep them within 5 ft of each other. This is a VERY general recommendation since I don't know anything about your room. YMMV

I am not sure exactly what you are asking. What speakers are you running as side surrounds and rear surrounds now? I am not familiar with the SF2's, SB2's. I have both the RB-75's (just posted a pic on today's RB-75 shelf thread) and RS-7.( BTW the RB-75 is a bookshelf speaker, although I heard Mr. Cannon call it a "mini floorstander" )

Steven is a real nice guy. I met him at the pilgrimage. I hope to make it to Virginia and check out the sknopa system sometime as well. It's a little bit too long of a bike ride from here. He's rumored to have a killer car system also. Insofar as the RF-7's are concerned, I hear some folks on this forum (and even more at AVS) tell potential fans that they don't sound good in a small room--Poppycock!

My only thoughts (not that you asked) about having 2 sets of side surrounds (especially both being WDST speakers and that large) so close together is how much information is being "sprayed" around in such a close area. It appears that you sit right up against the back wall. I have a similar situation in my bedroom when we lay down and watch a movie. I have a 5.1 setup in there and have the RS-3's (WDST spkrs) on the side walls. It sounds great. I tried to go to a 7.1 system but it was too much (especially for my wife). I put both bookshelf (RB-5's) and WDST (SS-1) in the rear and had to agree it was too much. Just something to consider. Everyone's room is different. As they say YMMV (i.e. your mileage may very) or should I say YKMV. {edit: keep the 15's just in case--It may save you some Euros} Yes I have my 7's toed in and I can see the back of the throat of all my horns.

Guten Tag Nick. No, I don't have a big house--Just a large desire to have big sound. I have 2 systems at the house and 1 at my business. I hook my 2 RSW's through the "LFE Out" on my Denon (The RSW's have a LFE out as well so I can link them). Where are you putting 2 pairs of RS-7's? I am guessing in place of where your other surrounds are. It should sound great--did you consider a pair of Bookshelf speakers for your rear surround or a single RC-7?

Sorry Dragon. Can't help you I have all of his DVD's and most of his SACD's. I can highly recommend "Play--The videos." It's recorded in DTS 96/24 and the sound quality is excellent.

It is my understanding that the upper end reference (actual wood) is made in Hope, Arkansas, as well as the RF-3's which at one time was the top of the line Reference. All of the Heritage line is made in Hope. The THX, the lower end reference and the Synergy is made abroad.

My RSW's don't bottom out--When the canons go off it scares the Sh!t outta me.

I thought this was funny--Stole it from bs & maxg So, I'm out shopping with my daughter for toys and we are staring at the Barbie display. Thousands of Barbies as far as the eye can see - there's airline barbie, travel agent barbie, nurse barbie, horse riding barbie, camping barbie, school teacher barbie, pilot barbie and about a million others. Some are collectors versions and cost up to $75 each - nuts man!! Anyway right at the end of the line of Barbies is one all on its own. And how much is that one? $275!!! WTF? Why? That's divorced Barbie! Comes with Ken's car, Ken's horse, Ken's Stereo, Ken's house, Ken's boat....

A bookcase seems to help my situation and I already had the books there.

Klipsch makes great speakers. The only boneheads are the ones that insist there is a competition. I have seen some posts by Reference "Boneheads" as well.

Well Kev, I am also looking for another pair of RF-7's. Would YOU be willing to trade a pair of yours for a set of Heresy's? Of course I need to find them first. {edit: BTW, those gray things aren't supposed to stay on the speaker}

Jeez!!! I log on here to see if the original poster had let on where he got the RF-7's for $1200 and I find a flame war. We all have our opinions. I heard a 5.1 Cornwall system this weekend that sounded GREAT! I wouldn't trade my Reference system for it. Insofar as wstrickland1's comment about the Heresys eating the RF-7's for lunch--Interesting. I also have a legend system with 20's as mains and I am looking for a pair of KLF 30's to put in that room and move the 20's to side surrounds. If I find a pair of Heresys would you be willing to trade for your KLF 30's?
