I bet I can name the place. Nothing like sipping a few Rugenbrau's with the Aussies I have been a dozen times since my "once in a lifetime" backpacking trip. {edit: after some reflection and looking at my photo albums, it has only been 7 times since the first trip}

  3. Sorry for butchering your language I lived in Bad Godesberg, Germany for 4 years as a youth. My father worked at the Embassy in Bonn. I try to make it back to Europe twice a year--since the fall of the $$$ I haven't been in a year and a half, but plan on a trip this fall. I think the wife and I are going back to Interlaken Switzerland, in the Junfrau region. That is the most beautiful place on earth, IMO. Austria is one of the few countries I haven't been too that I want to visit. It definitely is going to be on a future Itinerary.
  4. I agree, a Denon AVR 3805 would go nicely with your set up.
  5. Chooce (sp) Nick, Schlaphin ze gut (My german spelling is terrible) (oops not that late yet--inshuligen sie mer bitte)

What do you need...electric, bathroom or nothing more than a palce to pitch a tent? ---------------- Nothing more than a place to pitch (and a place to dig a hole, if you know what I mean ) a Bathroom would be nice and showers even better--but not manditory. I also have a few tents (2-3 person) in case anyone needs to borrow one. I also have several camp stoves and assesories for people that wish to fly in and still camp without lugging alot of stuff. {BTW I can also stop at the beverage store before I leave Texas--A keg could be in order }
  7. Congratulations! I too auditioned a considerable number of speakers (still do) before purchasing my first Home Theater and agree with your assessment. I have my profile listed below. The RF-3's are excellent speakers (used to be mains, now are surrounds) but the jump to RF-7's are in the realm of sublime .Keep us posted when you get everything set up and post pictures on the "Show me your Home Theater Thread." BTW Thanks for letting us know you're from Austria, your english didn't give it away. (edit: Meine deutch ist nicht ser gute }
  8. Please check and see if there is anywhere we can pitch a tent I would like to talk some folks into camping.
  9. Welcome to the forum Anakin26. I love seeing Europeans on the forum who appreciate Klipsch speakers. It's 10 am here in Texas. I wish I was in Austria--It's going to be 38 degrees C here today.
  10. ---------------- On 8/2/2005 1:14:03 PM Nicu wrote: How can you run your speakers "large" and have the crossing at 60 Hz??? "Large" means "full range", you can only do crossing if the speakers are set to small. N ---------------- I am talking about 5.1 material. The "small" setting allows everything under the crossover (even if it was destined to go to the front mains) to go to the sub. The setting "Large" allows everything that is designated to go to the front mains regardless of frequency, to go there. I prefer to have my LFE set to "mains + sub." In this configuration, everything that is destined to go to the LFE (.1) is also sent to the mains at either 80 Hz for movies and 60 Hz for music.
  11. Keep in mind he is talking about an introductory level Denon to power the entire 6 channel (even before he adds the sub to the ". 1" designation) Reference speaker system. Setting them to "small," in this configuration wouldn't tax the system as much. FWIW: I run my speakers "large". On music I prefer crossing at 60 Hz and for movies I like to raise it to 80 Hz.
  12. Congratulations on your RF-7 purchase. I just checked out your profile--Nice system, BTW. I agree with Indy about running the RF-7's large (I run all my speakers large). Some will disagree. I am a fan of Denon receivers, but have to think that the 1803 may not have enough power to run your speakers near it's capabilities. If you decide to keep that unit, I think "Small" would be the best setting, when you get your sub. The volume level you mentioned is not that loud. Does it start taxing the system when you get it any louder? IMO, If you could get a used Denon AVR 3803 or 4802R you would be more than happy and run those speakers louder, with more detail. I have had no experience with the AVR 2805, but some have posted with good results. I personally would get the AVR 3805, if you can't find the other 2 I mentioned. Good Luck. {edit:For a reference point, -20 on my system (profiled below) is a quieter setting, that still sounds good --at -40 I feel I would loose some sonic material }
  13. Gosh BoobyT--It seemed like only yesterday...But you are right, it is summer and that is when you said you were purchasing. Congratulations on your new upgrades. You are now the Tower of Power man. Enjoy your system.

  15. "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "We are the champions." Who would want to subject themselves to the comparison? That was my first thought...

When do the subs arrive?
  17. Yesterday I was fortunate to be able to audition eq shadimar's (aka Jeff) 5.1 all Cornwall "Javabean Multi-media experience, "Home Theater. (Technically it could be labeled a 5.3 since he has 3 huge SVS subs hooked up as well, but who is counting ). I am always comparing other Home Theaters to mine, and right off the bat I could tell that Jeff had tried to stack the deck by making the some of the BEST cheeseburgers I have ever had. If that wasn't enough, he made chocolate chip cookies, which put me in a favorable mindset to write this synopsis. Jeff was also nice enough to let me play some media that I wanted to hear on his Cornwall system. To start off the afternoon we listened to a 2 channel Jazz recording that fellow DFW Hornhead and Klipsch forum member "Tommy C" brought. It had a nice sound to it but I am not a 2 channel fan as much as I am a multi channel person. If Tommy wishes to comment it would be more appropriate than myself since I had not heard the recording beforeI wanted to hear those other 3 Cornys with those 3 subs do their stuff. I also don't listen to much classical music (i.e., I purchased the "1812 Overture" SACD to listen to the cannons but that was the only cut that got played more than once on the disk at home) but I was told by other more experienced people at this get together it was probably my selection of composers. We then listened to a fugue by Bach (if I am wrong please correct me) and that was when Jeff's Cornwalls came alive! I was amazed at how the 2 vocals seemingly came out of the same speaker but with such good imaging you could have sworn he had another speaker behind that same Cornwall--very nice and I am off to Bestbuy and see if I can find that DVD-Audio. The first selection of mine that was played was from REMs greatest hits DVD-A entitled "E-bow the letter." It sounded clear and crisp but lacked the punch it had on my system. It was then that Jeff told me that he had an older model Pioneer Elite that didn't have bass management for DVD-A/SACD, IMO that was the weak link in his system (and the only weakness I heard the whole day) we then listened to Sarah McLachlan DVD video and the song "Building a Mystery," which also sounded sweet. Her voice echoed through the room like she was in there singing to us. I can see why people who have 2 Cornwalls up front get ecstatic when they find a vertical cornwall to use as their center channel. It wasn't until we put in and played some scenes from the first 2 "Star Wars" movies that I realized how beneficial it is to have 2 more Cornwalls as surrounds. I also realized if you really wanted to have an obscene system you add a SVS 29/30 sub. To make it over kill you could add another SVS, or you could do what Jeff did and REALLY upset the neighbors (not just next door, but 2 doors down) by adding a 3rd SVS sub!!!! I didn't notice the SVSs on my DVD-A disks because they didn't have a substantial LFE channel (which my Denon 3910 compensates for at my house w/bass mgmt). But what really drew my attention to his subwoofers is when fellow Hornhead and Klipschster Good2behome brought in a Gregorian chant (I believe that's what it was) that had some EXTREMELY low bass. The whole house shook. Also checking out the "Java Bean Theater was fellow forum member Oldtimer and his wife. When that first low note came out of the trio of subs, I could tell by the expression on Oldtimerss wifes face that she was not only deeply (pun intended) impressed, but if her husband showed up with one of those "tower of powers" (or possibly 2) she wouldn't kick him out of the house. (Lucky guymy wife told me where I would be sleeping if I came home with something that huge.) Getting back to Star Wars: This definitely was a showstopper for me. We played a scene from "Phantom Menace," which I wasn't expecting to sound as tremendous as it did, not being a primary demo disk for me. The unreal explosion on the galaxy chase scene as well as Anakin Skywalker chasing that ugly fellow and his son through the cosmos REALLY showed off Jeff's system well. The blending of all 5 speakers and those sub 80 Hz (40 Hz?) explosions on the SVS's made this epic come alive like only one other theater I have heard . When we got to the all-too-familiar Pod race, it was equally impressive. After hearing Eq shadimar's all-Cornwall system I can truly say, if a person really (and I mean REALLY) wants to have a Show Systemget 5 huge speakers and 3 huge subwoofers and don't let anyone persuade you to get anything smaller!!!! Now with that being said, after the Cornwall Experience, Jeff took us in his secondary theater (you know, the one like we all use as a 2nd set-up with the HUGE front projector) that had 5 Heresies and that sounded sweet as well. If we started out with that one and he told us that was his main HT, it still would have been worth the experiencebut slightly short of sublime compared to the Big Boys. BTW, I gather the Theater got its name from his well-behaved and friendly dog Java. You can tell a lot about a person by the way he treats his dog and on that criterium I can vouch for Jeff being a great guy. Java was as much as part of the group as myself and he is definitely one lucky dog to be able to hang out in Jeff's "Javabean Multi-media experience , Home Theater. Thanks for the invite .

I was more of a Stones fan, but Keith Richards can't compare to the guitar playing ability and genuine showmanship of Mr. Walsh , IMHO.

If you are getting that Denon 5805 I really am jealous. I have the 4802-R (along with the 3805 and 3803, in other setups;-) and I am real impressed with it. I also prefer my Klipsch Reference Theater over the THX line, however don't those subs kick some serious bass? I hate to hear that they didn't have the RC-7 in stock--That is the pivotal piece for several 5.1 systems--It makes no sense not having one in stock. I am glad you had a good experience. Jerry sold me my first system 25 years ago and Mike Callaham let me talk his ear off about my system when I was in there a couple of months ago. Please keep us posted how long it takes to get your RC-7 and what you think once you do get it.
  21. Without stating the obvious ones, I can think of 3 I enjoyed watching that were semi-obscure, but still make me laugh: 1) excess baggage w/ Alicia Silverstone & Benicio Del Toro 2) Empire Records w/ Liv Tyler & Renee Zellweger 3) Making the Grade w/ Judd Nelson
  22. My guess it's a Christmas song.
  23. Is there a list for more current models?
  24. Here is Sullivan. He adopted us a year ago--Still trying to get rid of him.
