Maybe Klipsch did some additional testing over the past couple years and updated the specs to more closely reflect what the speaker can actually take... ... He told me I had a very nice setup, but I gotta do something about the Denon. ... He pretty much told me that other than considering a good pre/pro, I have a very impressive system and I should be set for a long time to come. ... Kinda puts me in a quandry as to who to get the pre/pro from. I've always had great service with the local Tweeter (plus I know I can get a decent discount on one), but at the same time, I really want to support the smaller, local business. ... ... hell, i got a pair of RF-5s acting as surround duty! ). ---------------- I know where you are coming from and I identified with a lot of what you said in your post. I too have friends at Tweeter and purchased my original HT Klipsch purchase from them. The last several times I stopped in there I kept trying to tell my friend that if they were going to remain a high end dealer they really need to be selling Separates (they used to sell b&k but are discontinuing). In fact, my last 5 to 10 conversations with him has been about buying 7 to 9 channels of amplification and how much of an upgrade it would be for me! He was real informative, but didn't have what I was looking for. I use (and am extremely happy with) Denon receivers and have a 4802 R in my main theater and use RF-3's as my "A" surrounds. I tried the RB-75 in that position and didn't like them as much. I REALLY like being able to use 2 sets of side surrounds. To get back on topic--Yes, it will be interesting to see why the discrepancy from authorized dealers on the RC-7. Thanks for the original post. I e-mailed Ms. Unger in customer service.

One black RC-7, the other one is cherry. ---------------- That is interesting mine say "125 watt max" I purchased mine from Ultimate Electronics, an authorized dealer. Both of mine are cherry. I wonder if a Klipsch rep could step in and explain the discrepancy I know what the spec sheet says.
  3. ---------------- On 4/29/2005 2:13:58 PM wojman wrote: So would you buy the Reference RF-3's for $300 and slowly upgrade? Not oppossed to upgrading. Thanks ---------------- Yes I would! I am using mine as side surrounds now with my RF-7's and am tremendously happy. They used to be my mains
  4. The RF-3's are Reference speakers and I believe retailed for around $800-$850 a pair new. If you can get the pair for $300 and they are in good shape that seems like a good price. If you can find a RC-3 Center channel I think you will be pleased--If you can't I think you may find your center channel lacking--You may not. The KSB 3.1's are good speakers also. I think they would sound great as side surrounds with the RF-3's even though they are Synergy series. My first home theater setup was with the KSB 3.1's as mains which my brother has now. I still am impressed with their sound.
  5. OOPS. The sticker on the back of both my RC-7's also say 125 watts but it is gold.
  6. ---------------- On 4/29/2005 1:48:21 PM RickB wrote: Congrats, the RC-7 is a real nice speaker. You are right the sticker should say 200 watts max. Someone probably just put on the wrong sticker. If it was purchased from an authorized dealer Klipsch would probably send you the right one if you asked. ---------------- Umm... If you purchased it on E-Bay you are correct on questioning the authenticity of your source being an authorized dealer. It should say "{edit125 watts max}."
  7. Colterphoto1, I missed that the first time around--Thanks for sharing it again.

NOT! tony ---------------- I agree a leaner Ultimate Electronics can come back stronger than ever. A discount super center that caters to the mid to higher end market is a good idea. There are several reasons that ULTE failed but none more so than one month after opening 18 -25 new stores, the tragic events of 9/11 happened. It wasn't a good time for venture capitalist, and landlords still wanted rent payments. As far as the "debtors" are concerned they are going to write off their losses and are happy at least someone is willing to keep trying to sell their merchandise. It could have been worse for them if NO ONE wanted to get into the Mid to upper end Home Theater market in a big way.

It is also true that the so called ceo is mounting a bid to buy the stores he wants(not all of them, just the ones in less competitive markets). So just where did he get the money to by these stores you might ask? Or, who are his friends willing to finance the deal after his proven inability to compete? In business school we had a saying, "nice work if you can get it." ---------------- FYI The new CEO is Mark Wattles and wasn't even on the board when it went Bankrupt. He purchased the majority of his shares in the stock right when they declared Bankruptcy. This allowed him to own at least 51% and become majority stock holder. He also used his assets to secure a several million dollar loan for ULTE to help negotiate through the bankruptcy process. He was (and still may be) CEO of Hollywood Video which is a very successful company. He became CEO about 2 months ago and David Workman who founded the company was forced to resign. Something tells me Mr. Workman didn't fare as well as some of the more notorious CEO's that have been in the news.

Do I boost the sub levels on the DVD player, receiver, or sub itself? I don't want the signal to be processed more than needed. I just want to be able to listen to different media without having to change a bunch of settings around all the time. I have all my levels set up how I want them, but it seems that switching into Multi Channel Input from Coax screws everything up. Thanks! ---------------- Question 1: Yes you need to set that in the player--Like Jacksonbart said, the DVD player is doing the decoding and sending it to your receivers amplifiers. When you set those settings in your dvd player--It has no effect on your DVD video playback through your optical cable. That processing is being done by the Yammi. Question 2: I would set that on the DVD player for DVD-Audio/SACD. That should have no effect on DVD-Video's audio through the optical connection.

Bottom line.....this is the worst time to be shopping for a television....we are in the middle of a 4 year period where it just doesn't make sense to be buying expensive TV's....unless you are just replacing a broken unit. For most, it makes sense to stay out of the TV market until the HD issue settles out. ---------------- I disagree. The worst time to buy a TV was 3 years ago when all of the HD and HD ready sets were WAY expensive. People were telling me I was crazy buying my Widescreen Mitsubishi--I may have been, but since that time I have been able to appreciate DVD's (Movies & Concerts) in 480p on a 65 inch screen that was tremendously better than anything I had seen before. The few HD channels available up until 1 year ago weren't worth the cost of buying the HD Monitor (i.e., TV). Now there is alot of HD programing, especially on satellite and just as much with just an antenna in high market areas. I agree that things will get cheaper and people on a fixed income should not go out and buy a new TV set any time soon. I also don't think people should go greatly in debt to buy anything of the sort--but those of you that can afford it, by all means go and check it out! My 2 cents on the topic.
  12. fini, I am a big art fan (especially Impressionist and Post Impressionist) and even a bigger Vincent Van Gogh fan. I have been to 14 museums to visit Vincent. I make regular pilgrimages to Amsterdam & Paris to visit the major museums and then take side trips to visit new territory. The last traveling exhibits I have been fortunate to see was in Houston. In late 2002 there were 2 exhibits at the same time--"Masterworks from El Greco to Picasso," from the Phillips collection and "European Paintings from the Ordrupgaard," Copenhagen. In early 2003 I saw French masterworks from the State Pushkin Museum, Moscow. All 3 exhibits extraordinary! Here is the link from my previous post: http://www.vangoghgauguin.com/ Oh, yeah to keep on topic we saw Star Wars II in the Theater and all I could think was how much better it would sound at the house--I was right
  13. I agree with Mr. McGoo--Set it in the receiver and bypass the subs crossover.
  14. Those appear to be retail prices.
  15. Welcome to the forum. The Denon 3805 is a good unit. If you can find a Denon 4802 R you may be able to get a good deal because they are about to release the 4806. I think it may already be discontinued. It retailed for $1999, but I bet it can be had for at least $500 less NIB if any dealers still have them. It is THX ultra II certified and has a good THX music setting on it along with the various other DSP settings that are nice--It doesn't have the Audio Calibrations that the newer 3805 has but is a better unit IMHO. I own both. They also allow you to hook up 2 sets of side surrounds which is nice.
  16. That is nice. How does it sound? How does it sound compared to the KLF-C7? I am looking for a pair of the KLF 30's in the DFW area to go with my Klf 20's--Looking at your work I may need to find a 3rd KLF-30

I have burned a few and I can only watch them on the drive that I burned them on.-- ---------------- The Denon 2910 plays "DVD-R/RW (DVD-Video recording Mode)" I have never tried it though.
  18. I don't know if you are interested in listening to DVD-A, but I don't think the sony decodes MLP dvd audio. I have the Denon 2910 and it plays both DVD/SACD flawlessly and dual 12 bit 216 MHz video conversion which looks awesome over DVI. The audio DACs aren't as good as in the higher priced DVD-3910 but may be considerably better than in the Sony IMHO. All of this being said I also own the Mitsubishi DD 850 which I picked up for $200 and use it for 5.1 Audio and it plays both DVD-A/SACD. {Edit: Oops-I just saw under $400. The DVD-2910 is under $600}

  20. VERY nice, rplace! I wish I had something constructive to say, but I don't. I envy you folks that have enough space to put Klipschorns in a Theater environment. Either this summer or next I am going to start a dedicated theater room and audition Klipschorns along with possibly the "Premier" line if it's out by that time. Thanks for posting pictures.
  21. jacksonbart, lol. It appears you have a healthy dog, and a little too much time on your hands.
  22. To be honest a REAL upgrade would be save up for the RB-75's. Your sub is handling everything below 80 Hz (or wherever you have it set) Your mains handle everything above that.Going from the 5 inch horn and 6.5 inch woofer to a 6 inch horn and 8 inch woofer in your mains will make a difference IMHO--if not make sure you can take them back if I'm wrong.
  23. If you are referring to me I meant option 1. Upgrading your mains to RB-35's would seem to be more of an upgrade and at the same time you would be moving your RB-25's to rear surrounds, which would also be an upgrade. I am not familiar with your Denon, but if it is a 7.1 receiver, then you will have 7.1. If not, does it allow 2 sets of side surrounds (my Denons do) and you could use both your RB-25's and your RS-25's as side surrounds, independently or together.
