  1. howdy all, I have not heard the RF7 so cannot compare. But what I can tell you is this. I have owned my RF83 for about 4 weeks now, with around 60 hours on them. I have it hooked up to A Yamaha RX-V2500 and HK DVD22(not high end but very good value for money). After playing around with wiring, analog out from DVD instead of toslink for 2 channel etc, these speakers continue to keep impressing me. The bass from these things is crazy (I keep checking the volume level on the sub) and the drivers don't even move!..lol. The soundstage is wide, seperation is very nice, mids are smooth and detailed. Throw on any well recorded disc (80's era if you have them due to much less compression than the "hot" crap they are selling these days.) The clarity from thse things is simply stunning. I simply cannot be happier and I have a very picky ear. I can only imagine what they will sound like when I get my new amp,250 watt minimum bruiser to really put some heavy punch and see if the drivers move then lmao. I cannot see how anyone who likes Klipsch or excellent sound would not fall in love with these. Enjoy your new purchase!
  2. Lets hear about them folks! I'm looking for amazing sounding Cd's to pump up the volume on my RF83, they need some exercise, lol.
  3. Hi there, just my two cents worth. I have the coveted RF83 and am using the RC62 center and they work VERY VERY well together. Ita all about budget and what sounds great to you. Spend what you can afford and buy the RC64 if you can do it, I can only imagine the "sonic bliss". Enjoy!
  4. Hi ya DR.Who, I am using a RX-v2500 receiver and am using 2 channel stereo but have also tried straight effect and pure direct. Straight sounds a little echoish all though not as bad as toslink and pure is somewhat "thin". 2 channel is simply magic on my setup as desribed with anaolg out. I really love the sound now, its just bliss. Thanks for your input! kind regards, Chris.
  5. Thanks for the input everyone. My HK DVD22 is supposed to have a good set of Wolfsen Dacs in it, from what I have read anyway. To me some CDs sounded good but something was missing, rich full sounding sound (mids) and sometimes very screechy at the high end. I finally decided to change the wiring between the DVD and receiver as a test. I hooked up a pair of RCA audio cables from the analog out on the DVD player into the CD in on the receiver, after realising that CD players output analog signals. The toslink connection was sending a digital signal to the receiver which then had to do the decode to analog or something like that, LOL. Anyway, the results were simply astounding. This is no placebo effect or psycho want it to sound better, even my wife could hear the difference! The whole sound reproduction is completely different, so full sounding and rich, nice mids, good bass extention and those nasty ear fatiging screechy highs have dissapeared. Maybe you audiofile types have been doing this forever or maybe I am just dumb but I consider myself to be alittle bit savy with this stuff but it never donned on me before to try this analog out thing. If you are configured as I was and I suspect a whole pile of you are, try it out, it takes two secs and for me is just amazing at the difference in sound quality. Maybe some receivers handle the decode better but my yamaha did not seem to do a very good job, however to be fair it is excellent with digital soundtracks. Hope you have good results and would love some feedback on my "test".

  7. Hi guys and gals Since the DVD age began I have been using my DVD player for both movies and audio. Now that I am moving towards a higher end system and enjoying 2 channel listening all over again my question is this. Will a good CD player do a better job of 2 channel reproduction than my HK DVD22 via Toslink and if so how much does one have to spend to achieve this? I am not interested in anything over $600-$800. Thanks for your input! BTW...my RF83' are at about 40 hours break in now and really seem to be opening up, some CD's I listen to just make me smile and go HOLY S#@T, this is amazing.
  8. One More Car One More Rider....simply reference material...DD or DTS...amazing use of Centre Channel and great content to boot!
  9. Agreed, From Hell is an awesome flick, and wicked sound, thanks for the reminder!
  10. The Ear...wish I had your budget, please post some pics of your system and I will do the same when my Daughter returns from college with my cam....everybody rejoice and enjoy!
  11. Hey all, sorry, I should have stated for the money the Pw2200 can't be beat. And no, I am not a Sub expert by any means but have listened to many sub/setups. I use mine with RF83/RC62 and for music is just a heavenly match (for the money). As far as movies go, and yes I own the Incredibles, I have never heard any popping and play movies at -14 to -10 db depending on various factors with a Yamaha Rx-V2500 which is no slouch. My HT is dedicated and 25x15, sound blocked and quite "dead". I will mention however that it took some experimenting with position and settings of sub/receiver (crossover in particular along with line level to sub)to achieve these results. In the end as most folks on here would agree, its what you find sounds the best and is within your budget that really matters. If the SQ of my Klipsch speakers are anything to go by I suspect the top Klipsch sub would be better but at what cost? Almost 3 times as much here in ON< Canada. For me, my budget is not unlimited and would like to soon add a nice hefty 3 channel amp and a projector(which the RF83 took priority over, just couldn't live without them..lol) . Hope this clears up any insults i may have made. Kind Regards, SubJockey.
  12. Hey Michael....i intend on getting the RC64..but also want an amp and a new projector..LOL. Better start logging some overtime i guess...
  13. House of 1000 corpses....lol..bloodbath! Devils Rejects....part 2 from above. Hostel...OMG...this is brutal. Saw...the first one. Have to agree with Phantasm and Hell Raiser. Halloween...only the first one. Loved this movie when I was a Teen.
  14. Hey there, I too am a fairly recent convert to the Klipsch line. I am the very proud new owner of the RF83. You will be blown away with the Klipsch speakers no matter what your budget can stand. Keep the same receiver and have a good old listen for a few days then if you want to, go and upgrade the receiver. As far as timbermatching the center goes, I currently have the RC62 which i bought a couple of months before the RF83(thats what got me interested in Klipsch). The RF83 are matched to the RC64, a much bigger and more expensive center but I have to tell you the RC62 that I use works very very well with the RF83. All in all a wonderfull wicked fantastic sounding system, love the Klipsch!

  16. LOL, first off, don't post on forums while under the influence of Rums(plural) and secondly it was not a threat., thirdly, bought the RF83's and love them.
  17. Thanks for the reviews guys, picked it up last week to check out the new RF83' and it really is a piece of art, considering it was recorded 30 years ago, its stunning to hear in surround or Remastered CD. Loves it! However, the video is another matter. I know its mostly (extras) the concert footage is really bad, grainy, shot badly, too many closeups and camera angle changes too quickly. Sound was pretty good though. Because of the quality of the music, 9/10.
  18. Ok, after getting my Rf83', holy shmoly, it does sound good, also the high bitrate plays fine on my HK DVD22.
  19. Howdy folks, here is my first recommendation on this forum. Just out this week is Colin James, Little Big Band 3,CD, Blues/Big Band/Rock/Swing...lol, i know its a big combo but thats what it is. The first two big band CD's were also very good. He is from Canada and has been quite popular here for the last 15 years or so. Was mostly blues/rock till the first big band album about 9 years ago and now goes back and forth. If you like this kind of music, its a must have.
  20. Hey all, for any of you RXV type owners, how do i delete the system setups that have been saved in memory? I loaded a bunch of garbage when it was new by accident and can't seem to find how to get rid of these in the manual. Any takers or techno wizards? Dr.Who perhaps et al? Thanks a bunch, JetJock
  21. You know, i admit the sub does make things sound better, but to be honest ,last night for the first 3 songs the Sub (PW2200) was turned off and I didn't realise right away, If you want to hear the full sound available from them , trying switching speakers to large and bass out to front on receiver, i do this for 2 channel...holy **** batman!..lol Jay, is that a wing with RF83 on it? whats the connection?
  22. Just to let you know, the Yamaha RX-v2500 seems to work really well so far. Tons of db and lots of headroom. Also, i know I will get pickier as time goes on and start tweaking but right now the RC62 seems to match very nicely with the 83'. The Yamaha YPAO auto setup does a great job but will get an SPL meter asap. Down the road I will be adding a nice beefy 3channel amp with at least 225 RMS, most likely an Anthem MCA30 or similar.
  23. Jetsnake, its under "how to buy audio". Invest in Enough Power While Klipsch speakers are highly efficient and dont need a whole lot of power to drive them, you still need to purchase an amplifier/receiver thats relevant to the system you choose. After all, one of the most common causes of speaker damage is not having the right electronics to support it. One of the most common causes of speaker damage is not having the right electronics. Be sure to buy at least as much power as your speakers are rated to handle. A good rule of thumb when trying to pair your speakers up with the right amplifier is to buy at least as much power as your speakers are rated to handle. For example, if a speaker is rated at 75 watts maximum power, then you should buy an amplifier that can deliver at least 75 watts per channel. However, you dont need to limit yourself. You can buy a 100-watt per channel amplifier for a 75-watt speaker because more speaker failure occurs from being under powered rather than over powered. It is safer to go slightly higher with your amplifier wattage because youll never be in danger of clipping. When an amplifier is expected to deliver more current to a speaker than its capable of doing, clipping occurs. When an amplifier clips, it literally cuts off the tops and bottoms of the sound waveforms that its trying to produce. This, in turn, sends a lot of distortion into your speakers, which is bad. Distortion puts a lot of stress on your speakers, typically the tweeter, and will eventually cause them to fail. In fact, your speakers will fail before your amplifier does.
  24. Hi there Toca I have just purchased The RF83 and have an RC 62 center with Mirage OM260 in the rear. I am currently using a Yamaha RX-v2500 and works very very well with the Klipsch', because of their efficiency i can plat at moderate to loud levels and still have lots of headroom left. You should be able to find an RX-v2500 or 1600 for $700-$900 us depending on model year etc. Just bare in mind some models may not have HDMI and this may be needed in the future if you go HI DEF DVD or Blueray etc. Good luck.
