  1. 1: The pre-1975 or so La Scalas are 34.5" high, since they don't have the 1" riser that was added when the woofer access panel was moved from the top of the LF section to the bottom. 2: You could always turn your center Scala on its side. See photo:
  2. So you have three of them? That's a real wall of sound you have there! That must sound really good. It's interesting to see how the 510 horn could be fitted into the HF section of a Scala, although that would mean altering the cabinet. The 510 would be the straightforward and sensible way to go, but getting the best sound is rarely straightforward. We're all here because we're not all there, as the saying goes...
  3. When I did a search, all I could find was a low-res avatar-sized picture.
  4. Speakers, especially Klipsch speakers, often turn out to be a long-term purchase, so why start small? If you have some usable speakers, why not use them until you can afford some Klipsches that you'll be satisfied with for a long time.
  5. Those look retro-cool. Very nice!
  6. Don't stout German beers go best with stout German waitresses?
  7. Is that an example of yankee/redneck/coon*ss ingenuity? Pick the word that's least offensive to you.
  8. Congratulations! Everyone who has bought a pair of Jubilees has loved them. Post some pictures when you get them set up.
  9. Funny how it's easy to describe the size of Heritage speakers by comparing them with household appliances: Heresies are the size of microwave ovens, La Scalas are the size of washing machines, Jubilees are the size of fridges. The weights aren't too far off, either...
  10. How many people have a JubScala and are there any good photos of one (or two)?
  11. If a woman leaves you over your choice of speakers, lucky you! You don't need someone with control issues as severe as that... I hope your next partner can appreciate your good taste in speakers.
  12. That first post was unformattable, even after 5 tries, so I tried responding to a different message and that finally worked. Is anyone else having problems like this?
  13. Oak Bay? Nice area! That's about 10 minutes drive from my place. If I ever turned my system all the way up, they could probably hear me... As for spikes, here's a site that sells 1/4" spikes for $2.40 per set of 4. There may be other sites with similar prices. I like shopping on the Net! http://www.madisound.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=117_121&products_id=1051 Some of their related items: http://www.madisound.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=117_121

  15. I prefer the BFA connectors, on the basis that they provide more contact surface, but it would probably be pretty hard to hear the difference one way or the other. I'm using BFA connectors in most of my system. As for Knukonceptz's speaker cable, I've been using their 8 gauge Karma Kable for a couple of years and I really like it.
  16. There's a trick there, too. Those diet pops increase your appetite. Your body interprets the artificial sweetener as sugar and bumps up its insulin production to process it, but there's no sugar there, so you experience a sugar crash, making you hungry. They've got you either way!
  17. Thanks for the drawings, Dean! That really makes the varying size matchups easy to see. The 510 horn would be a lot more manageable, as well as probably less expensive, but most who have heard both really seem to favour the 402. It's just hypothetical at this point, but a pair of Jubilees could be in the long-term plan.
  18. So, Roy, how well would a vertically-oriented 402 horn work in a typical living room with an 8-foot ceiling and a listening distance of 13 feet? Would a horizontal orientation be a few percent better or much, much, better? Thanks for your input.
  19. Is it just me, or does that alien really like Andre?
  20. So the frequency response would be out of whack with a vertical orientation?
  21. Your call... Of course I'm joking! Who would take the time to dye JFK a different colour?
  22. It's been mentioned that a JubScala might be a stepping-stone to a Jubilee. From my point of view, the Jubilees are a bit costly, even if they are a great value. As well, they're just plain BIG! It's wouldn't be so bad if they're in the end of a room, but in my place you have to walk past the right speaker to get into the room, so the size (particularly width) would be undeniable. However, the JubScala could be a way to go. Here's my question: does the 402 horn/K69 combo work equally well in a vertical orientation? Turned on its side, a 402 would be roughly the width of a La Scala, so it would look more attractive than having it set up horizontally. If it did sound just as good, I could look into getting a set of La Scala bass bins, or just use my present Scalas and disconnect the HF section. The horn could be tilted down a little to compensate for the extra height. Any ideas or opinions?
  23. You should rent Bubba Ho-Tep. JFK is still alive, too.
  24. Really fine-looking gear! Has anyone heard these speakers yet, other than the designers and engineers?
  25. That's what they used to say about Jules Verne's work, too.
