  1. Neither the RC52 or RC35 is a tonal match for the RF82. Though the RC52 is a closer match than the RC35. The RC62 is a match however. I have RF82s and the RC62, and am extremely pleased with this setup. Note: the RC52 is a current speaker and is a match for the RF52s. The RC35 is not in the current lineup. Lou
  2. Well after having Dish for 13 years, I went with DirecTV last week. I have paid my subscription since inception with Dish every year, not monthly. In early January I moved to a new house, and got HD. In early February I spoke with a Dish rep, and we negotiated a rate, which I thought was attractive, I had everything installed, and before I mailed off my check, I confirmed the rate again. I was careful to take copious notes, and obtain the names and ID nos, of those I spoke to. I did ask for a confirmation "E" mail, but was told they could not do that. Imagine my surprise when I received a Bill last month for July service. I called and spoke to numerous people finally ending up with a supervisor who couldn't help me. He told me there no notes on my history about my negotiated rate and there was nothing he could do to meet my negotiated price. The new price was roughly 2 times as much. He also informed me that the Reps I had indicated I spoke to had left no notes on my account. I asked him if it was possible for him to speak to those reps because I had identified them; his answer was no. He gave me his name, ID no., phone no., and promised to have someone with more authority call me. I then called DirectTV and set up an installation for one week beyond that date; I was still hoping I could work something out with Dish. After 2 days of not hearing from anyone from Dish, I called the fellow I spoke to, in fact called him four times within that week. I also called the superior supervisor whose name he had given me. NO ONE ever returned my call. DirecTV came as scheduled and installed my system; I must say installation was much neater than Dish's and went quicker. After installation I then called DirecTV and spoke to their billing folks, and guess what, yep, the rate I was quoted was lower and they wanted to charge me more. However, the fellow I spoke to was far more helpful than the Dish reps, and we finally negotiated down to close to the earlier agreed upon rate. And here too, I asked for a confirming "E" Mail and was told they could not do that. I have cancelled my Dish service. Dish indicated I would owe a termination fee, however I was able to talk my way out of that. My first impression of DirecTV is that the menus are far less user friendly than Dish's, do not have as complete information, and is much tougher to read and negotiate. The picture quality and sound seems to be about the same. DirecTV does not have Rave, which I will miss. I wish there was a third satellite company that lived up to it's promises, could provide confirmation "E" Mails, and provided excellent instillation and picture and sound quality. One that could write up a one year contract, that we both could sign and honor. AND, one where you could establish relationship with a customer service rep, and speak to him or her on every call. In my thirteen years with Dish, I never spoke to the same person twice, and it was left to me to document everything I was ever told. In the end, even that didn't work. Am I asking too much? Lou
  3. Back to the top one more time, then it's off to ebay. Thanks for Looking Guys Lou
  4. I finally gave up on this silly format war, and bought a Denon DVD-2910. I wanted something that could upconvert and had an HDMI output and could play CDs. I have all this and more in the 2910. The upconverted picture quality to 1080i is good enough for me and my Phillips 50" Plasma. The sound is superb and I am able to play my collection of DVDs, and in the future will be able to purchase regular DVDs without having to worry about format. IMO, I made the right choice. To heck with the format wars, and players that will on play BlueRay or HDDVDs. Lou
  5. Now that would be too easy. They were both bought from Web Sellers. I would like to stay away from EBay and offer this to members of this forum. Lou
  6. Just bringing this back to the top, and adding: I'm using my first remote with a Phillips 50" HD Plasma, a Denon receiver and DVD, Nakamichi Tape Deck, JVC VHS, and a Dish Network DVR. I just changed my DVD from a Sony, and making the change was a piece of cake. The integration is superb as is the software. As many of you know you program this device by way of your PC, in my case a Mac. If you run into a problem, Logitech's telephone support is top notch, and is not handled by an off-shore staff. IMHO, this is a great product. Note: I probably would not have gotten this if it were not for my wife. She was confused by the myriad of remotes and could not operate the system. With this product, she has no issues, and of course, the operation is now easier for me.
  7. I have a Logitech Harmony 680 Universal Remote, Brand New in Original Blister packaging. Never opened. I bought one, and my wife bought one. Can only use one, so the other one is up for sale. Will accept offers of $60.00 or ?, plus shipping. Thanks Lou
  8. Read through this thread: http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/thread/811728.aspx Lou
  9. I've had my CR-3A since day one (since it was new). I used to use 2 Nacs (when I used to dub tape to tape (many years ago). In the day, the CR-3A was their cheapest 3 head deck. The CR-5 was a step up. If the thing still works good, and you need a deck, you can't do better. Nakamichi was the class of the field in it's day. Of course I no longer record on it, but for playback it still sounds good. Lou
  10. You can, if you do something like this: http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/thread/906507.aspx Lou
  11. I've never heard the RC-64, however, as mentioned above the frequency driver is different than the RF-82s. But, the RF-82/RC-62 is the combo I have. I think it's an awesome setup. The center timbre matching is seamless. Lou
  12. I have RF82s with an RC62. The RF82s are biamped from my Denon AVR1907. In retrospect I wished I had gotten the 2307, but the 1907 really seems to be OK with the 82s. I like to watch and listen to Rave. My85 watts per channel is sufficient to power the 82s to very loud levels. IMO, you'll be fine the 2307. Lou
  13. I can't tell from the site before I order. How much is shipping? Thanks Lou
  14. I have RF82s and a Denon 1907, (85 watts per side) and I bi-amp. I've read all the threads and listened to all the opinions, but to me, bi-amping sounds a little cleaner. A little more bass and a little more defined mid. I know it's probably in my head, but in my mind, it sounds better. The posts are available, I'm doing no damage, and I like it. If you decide to do it, don't forget to remove the jumpers. Lou
  15. The pics of the front are date stamped the rear are not. Taken at different times. The fronts look like RF82 not RF7. Stay away from this guy. Lou
  16. I have a 1907 driving RF82s and an RC62. I have the 82s passive bi-amped to the receiver. 12 guage with banana plugs. No sub, No surrounds. No problems here. Lou
  17. This is almost a 6 year old thread. His decision was probably made long ago???? Lou
  18. Those were my choice. I'm very happy with them. Lou
  19. I have the RF82s along with the RC62 center. For some reason Magnolla sels the RF62s and the RF82s, but ont the RC62. They only sell the RC52. When I was doing my investigation, Klipsch describes the horn on the RC52 with different verbiage than that for the RC62. My assumption is that they are not a sonic match for the RF62 or RF82. I have nothing to base this on however, just Klipsch's recommendations. Lou
  20. Shipping on this one is $200.00. Lou
  21. I've got RF82s with the RC62 center. No problems here. The dialog is excellent. The horn on the RC64 is really not a match for the RF82. I matches the horn on the RF63 and RF83. I don't know if this mismatch is the problem or not. However, folks on this forum rave about the RC64. Lou
  22. +1 - I believe this statement to be totally true due to the Klipsch's efficiency. Lou
  23. I explained above why I did it. The How is very easy. Remove the jumpers from the two sets of binding posts on the speakers. Run equal length's of speaker wire to your receiver. I ran the horms to my "A" channel speaker amplifier outputs and the cones to the Zone 2 front speaker outputs. The Denon setup instructions tell you how to set the Zone 2 amplifier to mimic the "A" amplifier outputs. Lou
  24. Whats this bi-amping?And the 2807 is rated 110 watts per channel and 1 amp per channel. Now is that 110 watts RMS?(i would assume but i don't know ) I tried bi-amping my RF7s with the extra two channels on my 3805, but it raised the noise floor so I went back to its normal configuration. Your mileage may vary. For me, IMO, it made the base stronger (I'm running with no sub) and the mids a little cleaner. Nothing earth shattering, but I like the effect, and I'll be leaving it. I guess I should call it "bi-amping/bi-wiring" as Denon does. Or Fools Bi-amping as others on this forum do. But, for me, IMHO, it seems to work. Lou
  25. I'm running RF82s (bi-amped) and an RC62 with a Denon 1907. They sound pretty good. The bi-amping improved the base response. I'm not using a sub. I do wish I had a little more headroom, and if I were to do it over again I would have gotten the Denon 2807. But, as things stand now, my system sounds damn good at normal listening levels, and I see no reason to change anything. Lou
