  1. One metere on axis would be approx129.5, so that figures out just 'bout right!
  2. I definitely agree with you on the 130 db spec. Original Scalas were always rated for 124 db standard and127 db pro on paper., which is why the new 121 db spec is curious, although probably closer to the truth, considering power compression. i thought I saw an extra theatre catalog in my stuff, I'd be happy to make it yours, if thats the case. I'll look later today. you can email me at.... stereohermit@yahoo.com.....Dave
  3. I'm searching my archives for the 124 db figure right now, I know I've seen it. Found the 127 for the pro la Scala, and the 130 for the theatre version. La scala's are now rated at 121, also
  4. this is a thread I've alwas wanted to start, and it begs the question: The older Klipschorn's were rated for 124 db max at 104 db sensitivity. Makes perfect sense. But then, why are the new ones good for only 121 db. is the sensitivity 101 db, or is the powrer handling less than stated. Perhaps it has to do with the new , lower tweeter crossover freq of 4500 hz.
  5. I have a 6060...still chuggin along great. Love the sound, rich and full, I think they were going for the Mc Intosh sound. Incredible tuner , too, for what its worth.
  6. I think it was the KP 320's with the slotted passive?
  7. I used to use quite a few of those 1500's back in the '90's. The original version had separate power supplies, and was rated for 2 ohms. They cut costs and weight with the 1500a. They shared the transformer. Please bear in mind that the output drvices are no longer made for that amp, so if you blow one, you'll have to put in all Motorola MJ15024's and 5025's ...and there are 12 outpits per channel. Same as early Adcom amps, it uses Toshiba 555, 424 compliment. The QSC is capacitor coupled, so the frequency extremes can be a little soft. Running bypasses across the cap banks can help quite a bit. I had great reliability with the ones I had in the field,... dont remember a single blowup. The price seems fair, although its amazing what yiou can buy for the money, these days!
  8. I had the 30 watt version for awhile back in 1978. Quite analytical, however wasn't at all bad. Excellent detail. Ysed it with a Threshold SL-10 preamp with very good results.

  12. You mos t likely have a 16 ohm driver. Certain JBL diaphrams dcr low for the impedence. As I recall its 6.8 for the 16 ohm, and 3.3 for the 8 ohm. I'll dig up the docs for that, I just have to find them. My 8 ohm 2426 diaphrams dcr at 3.4...
  13. sorry, I carried an extra one over....twas very late!!!
  14. trying to load proper schematic...sorry! N501-8A Crossover Network Schematic.pdf
  15. I believe Altec went 12 db/ octave on the 902's see schematic below. The N500F is the one I'm familiar with, but this is somewhat similar except attenuation.
  16. OOPS! Forgot the top and bottom caps....try 2.718 cu ft.!
  17. http://www.rotarywoofer.com/ Heard this one at the last CES. Unbeliveable!!!
