  1. I am really loving these speakers, just thought I would try to post a picture or two. http://say4567.smugmug.com/photos/155262081-M.jpg http://say4567.smugmug.com/photos/155261828-M.jpg
  2. Would you be interested in selling the LINN??? If so, shoot me a pm. Thanks
  3. What do you recomend in this price range? Just to be clear, please specify new or used. Thanks, Stephen
  4. I bought Allans old Axis... had a new Adikt put on it, had it set up and LOVE IT!!!! Listening to a little old Bonnie Raitt right now. The Linn Axis is a great old table.
  5. Thanks for the tip. I just emailed him. I hope it is a good one. Stephen
  6. Bob, if you are reading this please shoot me a pm and tell me where to install my "midrange gaskets"??? Thanks You have a pm
  7. Just wondering if a member got them. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=017&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=270117578413&rd=1&rd=1 I was going to bid, but having two pairs seemed like a bit much.
  8. I have also, recently started really getting into John Mayall and the Blues Breakers. Spent most of last night listening to "Bare Wires" Also sounded great on the Linn.
  9. Thanks for this GOOD advice. Funny how you know things, but when something new comes into your world you lose all sence of reason, and GRASP for knowledge. Thanks everyone...
  10. I did not mean to start anything here by calling them an upgrade. Sorry. I kinda wish now that I had left them alone... I just really didn't want to open up the cabinet twice. I am starting to really tire of working on my system. I really just want to sit back and... Enjoy the music!!!!!
  11. I just ordered the upgraded crossover and also the tweeter upgrade. What can I say, I only want to do this once. So far, hooked up to the Mc, the sound good. Not great. I am hoping the new Xovers will be a big help. I am going to need some help with room placement I think. I had my old speakers really dialed in on placement. I am not sure what to do with these huge boxes... suggestions??
  12. Thanks PM, As you know, you are one of the reasons I wanted the CW's. I always value your thoughts and opinions. I will get with Crites and get a kit ordered asap... you are saying thats the best way to go? Thanks, Stephen
  13. Can you explain "went to new B networks"? Thanks. Feel free to pm if that is more appropriate.
  14. Make no doubt that i never thought for a minute that you were saying that the Corwalls would not sound good with McIntosh. I understand your point completly, It is really nice when you prefer your own system to that of others around you... I call it musical bliss!!! Enjoy the music!!!
  15. Interesting thread... I would be very interested to kmow what your home set up consists of. I just tonight bought a set of CW's and I am going to drive them with SS Mc gear...
  16. Ok, as some of you may know I have been searching high and low for a pair of CW on the west coast. I found a pair today, I picked up a pair of one owner 1978 ( I think, "S" serial #) RB CW's that have had one coat of medium stain. I paid $700.00, which was a lot more than I wanted to pay, but they were 5 minutes away, and I wanted a pair... I have then hooked up and they sound great... but being the anal person that I am, I want new crossovers, refinished cabs etc. Please advise. The grills are close to perfect, so that, at least is not an issue. I do want these to sound the very best that they can. I will be driving them with a McIntosh SS amp. I really appreciate all of you on this forum and look forward to your advice. I saw a thread not too long ago about a guy doing a beautiful refinishing job, if someone can point to be that thread that would be great. Thanks, Two Dot
  17. I was going to bid on those but I sure did not like the sellers feedback... 90% not for me. I hope whoever got these has good luck with them
  18. Thanks for the head up. I am still thinking about the LaScalas but have really decided on trying to find a nice a pair of Cornwalls. As far as th CL's ones go. Black just won't do it for me. I appreciate the heads up. Keep them coming. I still don't think I could pass up a perfecr pair of RB LS's
  19. What others have said... you have some good advice here... I also agree... spend more on the cartridge and proper set up than the TT itself. JT1STCAV's advice is also good, buy a good entry level set up new and save for a better cartridge. Good luck, enjoy the music
  20. I have a 6200 and Heresies that I bought 25 years ago... Even though I have not had a chance to use them together, I think it would be a wonderful combo. The McIntosh has brought music into my world more beautiful than I had ever imagined. Even though I recently upgraded to a MA 6300, I would not hesitate to say that the 6200 is one of the sweetest amplifiers I have had ever had the pleasure of listening to.
  21. Where in NC are you? I want them to be in California, but have friends in NC that like to pack things...
  22. I am right there with you guys. My old vinyl rig is put away on the east coast and I am out on the west working. Finally found a nice old Linn (thanks Allan) and started spinning agin. Brought back about 20 LP's, been buying a few used ones locally and been burnin' up the web ordering some new stuff. Great fun, just like the old days!!! I almost forgot how much I loved that vinyl sound, almost.
  23. PMS, Ok, I give... if you don't have a cartridge in that Thornes, what are you listening to???
