  1. I know, it is all about who is writing the information. So true, I can remember studying American history in school in Britain, and have since been surprised by discrepancies i have come across. I'm not saying who got it wrong, just that it obviously was. I know what you mean, my view of Germany was also different and very thin on information until I got here. One of the interesting things I have read since I have been here is a reprint of the actual newspapers from the pre-Nazi times. The propaganda would not work today but due to the articles I have read it is interesting to see how the Germans got pushed into the war and the Nazi cause. When I first came here my American views were of "Lederhosen" and Maßbier. Things have changed...
  2. Thanks for the replys guys!!! To further the info: "History up to the "Modern Times". But also reworks on the Civil War and the move into the Western Frontier. 3 or 4 different volumes would be nice. Thanks WMcD, I will forward your suggestions. There are thousands out there and narowing it down is hard....

  6. Suggestions in both directions would be good, I have told her just as when someone in US would research German history they could not just rely on one source or volume so she wants to give me some more information to what she needs. Mabie a type of encylopedia type of volumes??
  7. Any Librarians in da house?? One of my friends wife is a Librarian here in Germany and they are looking for an up to date book concerning the history of the USA, in English of course. If there is any reference work it would be nice to be pointed to it if possible with the IBAN number. Even if you are not a Librarian, any tips??
  8. Thanks, 9 Euro is a normal gas station price. Everywhere else was closed and I wanted one really bad.[] The price for Super 95 ROZ is around 1,749/Liter so that is around €6.61/Gallon or $8.26/Gallon. Driving in Germany is expensive...[]

SIMPLE TRUTH 1 Partners help each other undress before sex. However, after sex, they always dress on their own. Moral of the story: In life, no one helps you once you're screwed. SIMPLE TRUTH 2 When a lady is pregnant, all her friends touch the stomach and saying "congrats". But, none of them come and touch the man's penis and say "Good job". Moral of the story: "Hard work is never appreciated. FIVE RULES TO REMEMBER IN LIFE 1. Money can not buy happiness, but it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than on a bicycle. 2. Forgive your enemy, but remember the a**hole's name. 3. If you help someone when they're in trouble, they will remember you when they're in trouble again. 4. Many people are alive only because it's illegal to shoot them. 5. Alcohol does not solve any problems, but then neither does milk. THERE YOU HAVE IT...and remember, life is good.
  10. I would agree with Boxx for pre Collage education, at least the schools I was in tried their best to teach you how to learn. On the Collage level however I would embrace what Mallette is suggesting. I myself only went into the Army to get money for Collage. I fell in the to poor to afford it and not the right gender, degree of handicap or correct race to receive a scholarship. Even community Collages were to expensive for me at the time. 27 Years later I still do not have a degree but have learned just about everything I know self-tought. I now work as service technician in a middle size software company and the people with the degrees come to me for help with problems. They however are the ones earning more money since they have received a piece of paper stating they have learned "something" x ammount of years. Many here are not even working in the field in which they have received their degree. With a system as Mallette suggests it would be possible for people like me who have struggled hard to acchieve the level of knowledge they have to reap the benifits of this.
  11. Best wishes sent... I am sure everything will turn out with the support of family!!
  12. If your not caught then what is it called? What the customer doesn't see, the chef gets away with! It is called low moral values. Not wanting to cheat or be unmoral in other ways is a personal choice however. Last week I needed a new 5 liter gas container for my new mower. I went to the gas station and asked if I could first fill a new one up and then pay for the gas and container at the same time. He said yes and I filled her up. He only charged me for the gas though and on the way to the car I realized something was wrong and looked at the receipt. Yep forgot the container. So in I go and tell him you forgot the container. His reply was "I did not know how to ring it up, I´m new here and alone." So I asked if the barcode would work mabie. "Oops did not think of that." he said. Yes I had to pay and extra 9€ but felt much better personally. My friends think I am crazy.
  13. But how did the pot pie taste?? And what did he want to watch until it was finished!!
  14. Unfortunately yes cheating is becoming the norm starting with business and ending with games. To keep their edge on the market, a company I was working for delivered over 3000 pieces of equipment knowing they were defect just to get them out. I am sure other electronic distributors do the same just to get their product on the market first or fastest or just to say we have it. And I will not even start with economy or currency, that is one big lie from front to back...
  15. ^^ I´m ok with it, power tools or motor driver devices are ok. We are both hobby gardners and anything for the Garden can be bought as a gift. lol Now a vacuum that would be a whole different story [:|] I don't get it, how is this different from you buying her a vacuum as a "gift" (I'm told that is NOT OKAY)
  16. I also like the placement of your new mower.... Right next to, what appears to be, 2 cases of excellent beer. Stay thirsty my friend... lol... lol Unfortunately both are empty, fortunately where I live there is only excelent beer!!
  17. Definately, not as nice as your cooking set up but I´m lovin it!!! My first motor Mower believe it or not, before I alway used Electric. Alot more fun and much faster.
  18. New mower with Honda 1900 motor, gift from the wife...
  19. Yep he is coming from the one in Sharon. You may have even seen my Bro if you were there. He would have been the 6' 4" 220 redhead that is dressed like a cook. [] He will be moving this week and it should get settled in before the opening in September. I hope you TEXAS guys can get over there and give an honest feedback as to their food. He really wants to do this right and loves his job. And correct, the race car is already hanging on the ceiling.
  20. I am so jealuos Boxx!!! Now I want one too!!!
  21. Just got an update from Bro and next week he will be in Texas. I hope the wall is well reenforced as well!!!
  22. For those interested the Lube will be located in Legends Crossing by Hillcrest and opening in September. This race car will be hanging on the wall. My brother is pretty psyched and will be moving middle to end of August. Be sure to drop by!!
  23. They were fired, now they need to be held accountable. Good we see eye to eye on this point, and the punishment cannot be extreme enough. It's not called politics, it's called justice. What in the world are you talking about, "To burn the entire school"? The football program has been heavily sanctioned, not the school or it's students. Athletes in the football program are free to transfer to another school without penalty if they wish. Really? With the amount of sanctions being laid you don`t thing it will spill over. Don´t get me wrong, it was a sickening and heinous crime and I would like to deal with child molesters in the old west way. But these sanctions seem like cutting off the head is being used when amputating the arm would be the right decision. If you do not think that these sanctions will not hurt the rest of the school then we are definitely in disagreement and I can accept that. Sorry, I should have been more specific, I was concentrating on this crime and my comment "all institutions" was meant for a very large institution where it is unfortunately known to have a long history of pedophiles. I will shut up now...
  24. This should be interesting, I am in the middle of a CS1.5 build and just need the internals. Will be interested in your oppinion on the differences between the 2.
  25. Born and spent my childhood in Altoona, Pa. so some roots to the school. I will probably get fried for this but here is my outlook. All persons who were part of this either by knowing or doing should be fired and then receive the highest penalty possible in the judicial system. The sanctions given have nothing to do with what happened, it was politics. To burn the entire school is ludicrous and not needed. If it is then ALL "institutions" should be held accountable for what there "employees" do and receive similar penalties. If it was not Penn State and Joe it would have been page 2 news and the normal civil judicial system would have taken care of it. $0.02 nothing more or less.
