  1. Drove down 4 hours and laid out cash for them. The box had a couple of small dings but nothing major on them. I shipped the old one today so hopefully by Friday they will receive it and can send a new one out. The store was being nice by trying to save me money on shipping but in honest what is $15 in the overall scheme of things and besides I want the center channel to match the rest. For now my old center is working but it sounds terrible with the new fronts. I enclosed a copy of the receipts and explained to them that I bought new and it was DOA so I expected a new one in return. Stay tuned for more riviting updates.
  2. The box had some small dents but nothing major. I called the dealer again today and asked to speak to the guy I spoke with yesterday and was told he didn't work on Tuesdays. So I explained to someone else what happened. The first person I spoke to on Monday was going to contact Klipsch to see if he could save me a shipping charge. I told them I would pay shipping and that I wanted a new speakers since I purchased a new one. I was told that they would have to receive this one before anything could be done. I understand that. So it it boxed up with a nice note explaining it all and how I bought new speakers and I expected a new one in return. We shall see how it goes. I kind of thought it might of been the magnet because at times when you shift the box it sticks to the other one I guess.
  3. On another thread I stated ths past weekend I drove 4hrs one way to but RB 61's, RS 42's and an RC 10. I got home and hooked them up yesterday and the RC 10 was DOA. The dealer is getting in touch with Klipsch tomorrow to see about covering the shippng charges. I may have to eat the cost on that one. But I am sure someone will make it right. The boxes were never dropped just placed in the car and left there until we returned home. I carried them in one at a time and unpacked them according o the directions. When I first heard the noise I thought it was the feet that neede to be screwed on the bottom of the center channel. Then I moved and all the internal weight shifted. Something in the speaker is large and heavy and sliding around from side to side and front to back What is it the magnet?
  4. Well I am part of the way there. I would be mad but I know things happen. My center channel is DOA! I checked the speaker wire and it is ok. I hooked up the old center channel and it works just fine. In the box I heard a faint rattle but it didn't work. Now I can hear what sounds like the whole insides of the speaker moving or rolling around in the speaker box. It sounds like everything is loose. Tomorrow I will call the place where I bought it but taking it back tomorrow is out of the question 4 hrs each way. Maybe I can ship it to them and maybe they can ship one to me. If not I will have to contact Klipsch. The other four sound great though.
  5. Sitting in a hotel room near Roanoke at 7:50pm. Left home this AM and stopped at Charlesto at IHop for Breakfast and continued on. We had one stop for gas and one stop at a rest area. Currently I m sitting here typing on the wife's laptop dring my th Yuengling staring at my speakers in boxes wishing I was home. My wife also bought a Klipsch IGroove. Once w leave tomorrow after about 5hrs I will start to hook them up. I just wish I didn't have to wait until Tuesday to order my sub. Time to fetch another beer!
  6. This one seems to fit the budget and room pretty good. Not to mention the WAF as well. http://www.svsound.com/products-sub-box-10nsd.cfm
  7. Not the biggest or best but I just called a dealer in Roanoke and they are holding one pair of RB 61's, one RC 10 (the biggest center channel I can get to fit) and one pair of RS 42's. I leave Saturday to pick them up and come back Sunday. I will be ordering my SVS Sub either tonight or tomorrow. I'll be broke but really happy I hope! Big step up from HTiB.
  8. A few years back at Canaan Valley I had deer walk into the hotel room. I finally got it out of there before it went nuts or fertilized the carpet. To help coax it out I used potatoe chips and cookies.
  9. Man this is so strange. 2 years ago I took my dad home to Slab Fork in Raleigh county to visit the old sites. Dad is now 72 and really enjoyed the visit in the fall. We timed it when the leaves were turning. Slab Fork is just a few miles from Beckley. It was great hearing his stories but sad when we arrived at what had been his mom and dads at one time only to find out that it had burnt down and been leveled. But we went to King Tut's Drive Inn and eat lunch. King Tut's is the 2nd oldest drive inn in Beckley but has the best food. Homemade pies everyday and some of the best homemade tater tot's. When it floods in these valleys there is nowhere to run to except up. Just look up Buffalo Creek Flood Disaster on the net and that was caused by a coal company.
  10. In a town called Logan in Logan Co. I may about an hour away SSW from the States Capital
  11. I've seen too many of these in my lifetime and I am only 38. In my hometown there was a mine that caught fire and several men were trapped inside with no way out. Eventually they sealed it up after they couldn't get the bodies out. Then the Buffalo Creek flood and Sago etc. What a shame. May they rest in peace and may the families find peace.
  12. Glad to hear you are doing good and all looks well. [Y]
  13. How important is it to timbre match the fronts and rears? Is there another brand that may match up with the RB 61's?
  14. How about 4 La Scala's? A good HT Room 3000 Kegs and some cash?
  15. Well I called Tech Support and they said only the RB 61's are sold as pairs and it wasn't a good idea to turn one on it's side. I knew that wasn't the best idea. The guy suggested an RC 52 and I told him I didn't have enough room for the 52 and then he suggested the 62. I really think he was busy doing something else. I told him about the dealers return policy and he said "it stunk" and offered his condolences. I guess I will have to get the RC 10 and maybe push it a little harder than the rest of the fronts. Well I guess my first order will be for the 61's RC 10 and new sub from SVS. I should be able to place it at the end of the month if nothing happens. The rears will just have to wait a while. [:'(]
  16. Good guess also the room has too many openings and windows for a 6.1 setup. It has 9ft of windows on one wall.
  17. I believe 3hrs in New York driving is a lot different than 3hrs of driving time in WV but hey I could be wrong. I am thinking traffic vs mountains. There is a dealer in Va about 4 hours away and I may call them and take the wife on an overnight getaway. Ok oldbuckster educate me when you say Audio Classics what do you mean? Wasn't there like one online vendor approved by Klipsch? Hmmm I may have to call customer service. Grrrrrrrr.....
  18. Well there are only so many combinations. If you were bored you could start at 000 and work your way up. Do you know anyone that works at a hospital, airport, or any type of office that has an xray type scanning machine? This is so out there.
  19. Ok here goes. I am planning to upgrade to some Klipsch RB 61's so I look on the Klipsch site for my nearest dealer. The site lists 4 in my area and one had closed shop and the other states they no longer carry the Klipsch line. Dealer number 4 is over 3 hours away so forget that one sohat leaves dealer number 3. I call him up and ask him how much for a pair RB-61's and I get a descent price. I then ask if he can get me a 3rd one so I can use it as a center channel and he states that Klipsch will sell them as a pair. Well scratch that idea. I also priced a set of RS-42's and it is close to NSRP. So now I am reduced to getting the RC 10 for a center channel or use my existing center channel from my HTiB Onkyo HT-R500. The other center channel speakers are all too large. The RB-61 would fit on it's side (yes I know not the best placement) the RB 81 would be too long laying down. I tried to talk the wife into letting buy or build a self for the stand and that didn't work. Modifing the existing unit can't be done because it is wood and glass. Also, when I talk to the guy at the store I ask about his return policy he told me once I buy it I have to keep it "No Returns". Also, not a lot of discounts off of the MSRP either. So do I use my current center channel? Do I buy the RC 10 and hope for the best (Not counting on the $200 additional cost)? Look for a single RB 61 and hope? Have I missed anything?
  20. I have no idea what the official high temp was here yesterday but at 2:30pm I went to the bank and the temp there was 102.
  21. You will be fine... don't fret the worst with no more information than what you have.
  22. Yikes I hope your ok. A few years back I got one with my Ford Ranger. I used to hunt 2 legged deer but the wife frowns on that.
  23. South is right. That is southeast of Beckley if I remember correctly. Logan Countian here.
