  1. Hi Groom Related but different. What would be a decent brand for a decent price (under $100) digital ohm meter, or a meter which reads ohms as well as performs other functions? Thanks, Tom
  2. Just arrived, ebay purchase. No, seller didn't reveal all. Since my other speakers are or have been vintage, I'm not familar with the terminals, thus I have included a photo. My questions are, 1) can you hook raw wire directly to the middle of the terminal where it unscrews, or does the wire have to be connected to a male plug to insert in the terminal? 2) Will it hurt the speaker to test with the raw wire? Thanks
  3. You have way too much equipment. The enormous amount of electrical energy your are subjecting yourself to will cause you to become sterile. Save yourself, send some down to me in Florida.
  4. Listen to the TV through it's speakers. Get a 2 channel stereo system and hook a pair of Cornwalls to it. Now you are talking music!
  5. Marvel mentioned in one of his post that you might want to consider a Concert Classical to learn on. With your budget, you can afford to buy 3 or 4 quality guitars, each with a particular type of music in mind. I have a Takamini Concert Classic that is 28 years old and in near mint condition. The older a guitar gets, the better it sounds. That is why a 1960 Martin sells for 10 times what the 2008 model sells for. You can buy mine for $550, and that is less than 1/2 the price of a new one.
  6. I saw the Dead numerous times in the late 60's early 70's. The sound was always enhanced by the party. What a long strange trip its been!
  7. You guys need to listen to some old Queen.
  8. As a Wahoo I hate to admit it, but I am envious of your music room. Well, ok your B-Ball team too. Are you the same "Tarheel" who sent me the private message re: R2R. If so, thanks!
  9. Thanks for the input. I bought a pair of KG 1.2's off ebay. I have never heard them, but if I don't like, I will sell. Life is good
  10. You guys are all ahead of me, but I have a Revox A-77 I bought in Hong Kong in 1971 when I was in the service. Do you know of any repair/tune-up places in the Orlando FL area, or I might even send off. However, unless I read the ad wrong on the Tape Project, they wanted $675 just to tune a deck. Mine needs a capstan (spelling) motor. Plus it has been sitting for 32 years. Thanks
  11. I ended up buying a pair of KG 1.2's on ebay. Never heard them, and no one hear offered an opinion, but if they don't sound good, I'll sell. Thanks.
  12. Well Amy, no doubt they would be awesome, but the price is more than what I want to spend for this. Both speakers now are within 4 feet of me and you know I own both Hersey's and Cornwall's. Incidently, I put one pair of Corns on two different pieces of furniture (different heights) and left one pair on the floor. Certainly enhanced the sound of having both on the floor. Thanks
  13. Thank you romack, but I would have no place to put the big bass box. That is why any older 2 channel bookshelf would be preferable.
  14. How about SB-1 bookshelf, or KG 1.2 bookshelf ? Thanks
  15. Hi Amy. You made me go to a file drawer for the answer. 25 watts. This stereo receiver is from 1980. I'll check out the RVX. Thanks for the reply.
  16. Well tommyboy I hadn't thought that far ahead. Those JBL's I use can be had for $25 + shipping on ebay, and they are a pretty good little speaker. I just thought that maybe Klipsch makes/made a small bookshelf speaker. I have Corns and Hersey's, so I am familar with the line. Thanks
  17. I am currently running two small JBL 2500s through an inexpensive Technics SA-200 receiver plugged into the computer. What small Klipsch speaker would work well? The JBL's are about 12"Hx 8"Wx 6"D., so I don't want to go too much bigger due to space constraints. Thanks in advance for your input!

  19. I too salute Old Buckster. His advice was sound.
  20. I buy flavored bottle water. Does that count? Brands vary. Usually Sierra Nevada or Sam Adams. Hope this helps your poll jacksonbart.
  21. I believe the cabinet bottom is 3/4 inch. You want a screw which goes into the bottom 1/2 inch from where the riser touches the cabinet.
  22. Everybody who answered the original question is way ahead of me on the learning curve, so I apoligize if my question is simple, etc. Are there uprade horns for the Cornwalls? Thanks in advance!
  23. I don't know, but I'm wondering if he didn't over power (too much volume), and damage the woofers. To me, they don't require a great deal of volume. I forgot whether that means they are high or low efficiency, but the herseys I had, and the Cornwalls I got sound good at low volume.
  24. I am looking at a pair of Industrial Herseys (They have built in handles)? At any rate, the owner says he was using as PA speakers, but now when he turns the volume up the speakers "crackle". I have not seen or heard yet, so I am asking for help from my fellow forum members before I make a trip to see. What might be the problem? What kind of things should I do to test when there? Etc., etc., etc. In addition, what might they be worth? Thank you in advance for your help!
