I'm with USNRET, I had a TEAC X2000R for about the last eight years of my Air Force service. I sold It just before I retired - never had a problem with it and you're right CB, uber-cool to watch operate and just cool looking. The only ***** I had with it is that I spent WAY more time recording tapes than I ever did listening... and I did a lot of listening (before marriage, kids, etc). My listening area is NOT condusive for sound comparison... Russ could undoubtedly answer that better than I. I've owned all three, and I think they are closer to horns.... but I dunno.

Heh... thanks everyone. My wife actually said, "Those are nice... they look prettier than the other ones", (meaning the Khorns I sold earlier this year). These are pics the seller sent me. They're not mint by any means, a ding here and a scratch/vineer chip there.... but they aer REALLY nice. Since I got them in the door, I have already thoroughly wiped them down with Old English and watched part of my Pink Floyd Pulse DVD listening to them..... They sound great and look as good as they sound... I'm grinning as I write...

Out of the blue a fellow calls me and relates he's a lurker here, and read my interest in obtaining a pair of Belles. He lives about an hour's drive from me. Well, a few emails and a phonecall later... What do you think?

Great link BSam. If I read it correctly the K55V squawker didn't come into play until right around 60, and with the B in the one's SN, I'm thinking I have one from late 61 and the other from early in 63. As I said, strange pair. With that being said, they were at least 15 years old in 1977, but thanks for the props Tony. I hope to upgrade the crossovers and refinish anyway as $$ allow.

Hello all, I followed a thread in the garage sale section which linked to a pair of horns on the Raleigh Craigslist that were near my home. The ad listed them as 1977 models, oiled walnut, cane grills, good shape. Well... the oiled walnut part was right and they sounded ok for the test.... I was able to make a deal for them by trading my La Scalas, my birch Heresys, and some cash and still obtain them for less of an investment than his asking price. I think I did pretty well.... Anyway... The cabinets are in pretty good shape but are REALLY dirty. The cane grills have seen better days. I didn't yet pull the bass driver covers, buth the mids and tweeter model numbers are K55V and K77 respectively.Both crossovers are Type L (or maybe a funky 1). The cabinet SN's are a little strange (for a pair) - one reads 1614, the other 1B887. By my calculations and a search I'm thinking the first is a late 48-61 model. The second reads a 62-83 with the "B" indicating it's a 63. Both cabinets have the SN's stamped into the wood on the mid/tweet portion of the cabinets. Strange.... but I'm pretty pumped to finally own some Klipschorns!

David - Back in 78 I went to see Black Sabbath when they toured Germany. All of my High School buds and I hopped into a 73 New Yorker and drove to Mannheim for the show. They had this GREAT warm-up band at the time.... you guessed it, Van Halen. That was one of the best shows I've been to - Ever. I think you'll be fine with just the foam ones. You can get them at K or Walmart at the sports (gun) counter in packs of 20. I use them all the time on business trips so I can't hear whoever in the rooms next to me at night. They cut out a lot of the harsh highs and low (TV) noises, but I think they're fine for concerts.

Heh... nope still here. Your post piqued my interest and I just went into my HT room for a listen-to..... nope, nada, zip. I think hooking it up to the amp and actually giving it a path to let loose on helped. That pair of Heresys (H1s) are now my 2 channel B speakers. They're quiet. Thanks again for the input and humorous discussion.

Ah, touche then. Seems some POCs (pronounced "real" Porsche owners) refers to us 928 owners as... well, they don't refer to us on anything. More likely to avoid us alltogether. Maybe I've grown thin-skinned. Anyway, from one toy to another then, Cheers!

Woosh... seriously you missed my dusty-dry humor. Of course I'd like to own a 911 too (or any newer derivative), but I can't afford them rich-folk Automobiles ... On my 928 forum there was a post that showed a body kit for a 996 that made a Shark's butt look skinny. We had to laugh at the "dorsal envy". LOL Yea we're all wanna-be's, but it is a heck of a lot of fun pushing a front engined GT for all it can take. My 1985 928 was $50K new, but I have probably slightly more than $4700 in it and I'm still driving it like I stole it... I don't think I could strap on a descent 911 for five times that. Sorry for the hijack of the thread.

Give them to someone... They won't complain because they got them for free. You will be consoled on the fact that you "invested" $300 in speaker school and can move on knowing what NOT to ever buy again.

I placed my Heresy CC upside down directly above my TV (See pg 88 in the "Show me your HT" thread). I tried it upright and found the narrative (dialog) appeared to come from the speaker instead of the movie characters. I turned the Heresy on its head, and now my ears can't detect that the dialog isn't coming from the TV. My seating area is about 10-12 feet from the speaker though.

I moved it off of the La Scala and onto the floor. If I get about 10 feet away from the corner, the buzz stops. When I moved it back it didn't start up for a couple minutes... Funny thing was that it was closer to the wall (than 10 feet) on top of my tv/ht unit. It is a big metal stand from Lowe's (see pg 88 in the "show mw your HT" thread).. maybe the metal supports were blocking the magnetic field?...

Interesting... The house main breaker panel is in the wall of the washroom, directly behind the speakers in that corner... Whood'a thunk? I will test the theory at the main breaker panel when I return home. Thanks!

One of my H1s is acting weird of late. I noticed a feedback type buzz or hum coming from the tweeter yesterday. This was very odd because the speaker wasn't even connected to a wire. I had moved it from my surround system to become a B-channel speaker in my audio setup. It was sitting in the corner on top of a La Scala making a little buzzing noise. Nothing electrical in the room was even powered on...? I ran a wire from my Marantz amp to it and pushed some music through... It played fine. I turned off the amp and listened. Huh... no buzz. About 20 minutes later I was back in the room and there was the buzz again. I turned my amp on and then back off again.... buzz gone... for about another 5-10 minutes. I went to bed. It may be buzzing as I write this. Any ideas what is causing this?

Yep, I had read that they were for the Industrials'. Being as my HT room shares a wall with the Master Bedroom, I don't think my wife would be impressed with even more power capability. [] Thanks.

As always, sound advise Mike. I am using my second pair in my surround setup, so any timbre mis-match would be an issue. I'm leaning toward just using the good single I have for my center for now. If I ever go to a 7.1 setup I'll have to find a matching K22. Thank you.

I posted a thread on the 2 channel forum asking if anyone had a K22 bass driver they would sell. I need to replace one from an 85 Heresy I. I got a reply back with information from a fellow that has a pair of K42 drivers for sale. Physically I understand they will fit, but is there anything else that has to be changed to wire them up? Is the crossover network going to work the same? Problems? Thanks.
