  1. Great looking speakers at a great price. Enjoy!
  2. Trying out the new gear comes to mind.... no hauling it around for 3 weeks before hooking it up and checking it out. Maybe you could throw a party to introduce your neighbors to your new gear.... If you're passing by Kokomo, dropping off some earphones to demo would be welcome......
  3. Or wishes to confiscate them to make sure they don't fall into the wrong hands..... ummm... I'll have to guard this evidence myself
  4. hmmmm, Indy is pretty close .... Does Michael have all models available? Maybe I'll have to make a visit in the next couple of weeks.... but I'm afraid that once I actually compare all the models I'll decide I have to have the Custom 3 or IMAGE, but may be surprised at how good the Custom 2 and Custom 1 sound even compared to the more expensive Custom 3 and IMAGE. So is "Stick THIS in your ears!" going to be part of the marketing? Kind of catchy. I also like something along the lines of The Legendary Sound of Klipsch that fits in your ears or the palm of you hand.
  5. Mark, Thanks for the info. I think that any model will be an improvement over my current over the ear headphones (Grado SR60 - Grado headphones are hard to beat for the money). And I believe you get what you pay for. For some popular speaker brands it's marketing, with Klipsch it's sound quality. My short take on each model. Custom 1 - Awesome sound, friendly on the budget Custom 2 - Even better sound, better highs, lows, and less distortion - and naturally a few $ more than Custom 1 Custom 3 - Insanely good sound - probably doesn't get any better at a reasonable cost IMAGE - Sound quality probably close or better than the Custom 2, maybe even approaches the 3, unbelievable comfort, just pop them in So which do I have to have? Don't know yet. Maybe it's good I didn't really try 'em all at the Pilgrimage. Current finances say Custom 1. Thinking long term may at least want the Custom 2. If money was no object, probably the IMAGE and Custom 3. The kids would also want the IMAGE for their mp3 players once they found out how good they sound and are so comfortable that one would tend to forget there's something in your ears. So stick a set in your ears. A lot of people here on the Forum are looking forward to the day they can stick a set in their ears. (Especially Jay and whoever else won a pair at the Pilgrimage). I hope the market demand exceeds expectations. I suspect the IMAGE has the best chance of that due to the unbelievably good sound from such a tiny and forget they're in your ears comfortable 'phone. Should become a must have for a lot of people. Ben
  6. Our most common thing on the smoker is pork loin. Simply rubbed down in olive oil and some spices (Rosemary, etc my wife usually does this) rubbed in, over a pan of water in an offset brinkman smoker mostly charcaol usually at least a few wood chunks thrown in (mesquite, cherry, apple, etc) occassionally wood. Takes about 5 hours and is quite tasty. Be even better if we'd keep the heat down and smoke longer. On the grill the family's favorite is steak that's marinated in lime juice, taco seasoning and Lynchburg Lemonade. I usually almost slice this up before putting in the marinade and then grill as normal steak and slice up in strips for tacos. Also works well with chicken. Extremely simple. We haven't done fish on the grill in a while but need to as that sounds really good. Scanning through this thread is making me hungry.
  7. Congratulations and best wishes! Ben Hmmm.... if I'm already in an institution (21 years), then maybe I won't need to be institutionalized after all ....
  8. Mark, Thanks for the info on how the ear works with the in ear phones. I suspect that the 2.8 khz gain in the ear canal is somewhat cancelled out by sounds coming in through the ear? Maybe aborbed somewhat by the outer ear so equalized to flatten it out? Otherwise, it would seem that flat frequency response would also be desired for in the ear earphones. Fascinating stuff. In response to you most recent post Most interested in Technical information and how the ear system works (outer, canal, etc) is very interesting but naturally you can't post too much here and it'd be way above my head anyway but post as much as you see fit. The advantages of the dual armature model over the single armature model to determine if I want or think I need to hold out for the dual armature model Voicings and characteristics of each model to aid in deciding which one I have to have, or which one I can "settle" for. Don't think the Minister of Finance would understand spending $349 on earphones no matter how good they sound. The IMAGE definitely has the COOL and gotta have it groove going but just don't see it fitting into my budget anytime soon (come on powerball) Where will I use them most Listening to music while I work - it helps me focus and block out the distractions - added bonus that I annoy my coworkers less - the abitlity to loosen to be able to let in some outside sounds could be handy, at least to hear the phone ringing. Currently use a 60 GB Creative Labs Zen Xtra Nomad Jukebox, mp3s encoded with included software using the sliding algorithm in the midlle - most appear as 200 to 300+ bit rate in file properties but not sure - might find I need to bump up the bit rate a bit Listening to music doing yard work - don't do this now but the isolation capabilities of the Klipsch IE phones could protect my hearing and make mowing the yard more enjoyable - too stubborn or annoyed by the hot sweaty over the ear hearing protectors (you're not alone on that one) and don't like those foam hearing protectors very well either though I need to start using something while I still have some hearing Listening to music while repainting soccer fields - next fall, assuming I last another year as won't be available soon enough this fall (unless you want to send out a set for testing) - finally got around to trying this and made the task much more enjoyable - will have to watch the paint mist closer for the larger cloud as normally indentify empty can by change in sound (wonder how much dain bramage has occurred over the past yew fears?) as I'm sure I'd want the full seal for optimum bass Road trips (definitely not while driving) - if I'm not using them I'm sure our youngest daugher will be (the mp3 player is AWESOME for road trips, even with crappy factory sound .... ) Might even be usable on a plane though I fly very little Commuting if I ever again have a long commute on PT - would've loved a set of these when I worked in downtown Chicago and spent a lot of time on the bus and train, (would've loved an mp3 player then too) The oval ear tips seem so obvious - just stick your finger in your ear - my index finger fits perfectly vertically, not so well horizontal. So maybe that observation in itself was a stroke of genius - forgetting everything you know long enough to see the obvious. I bet a lot of people are going (@%#$!) why didn't we think of that? A product I can hardly wait to stick in my ears. Thought I'd never say that. I would say "Stick it in your ears!" but you already do.
  9. Mark, I am looking forward to the details as I spent most of my time at the Pilgrimage listening to the IMAGE model. VERY comfortable and AWESOME sound and so incredibly tiny. Definitely wins in the coolness factor. The entry level model (I think) I tried was also surprisingly comfortable and delivered AWESOME sound. I can't say that I yet know which model is THE Klipsch earphone to have though I do really LOVE the IMAGE model. I can say that the bendable wire model I tried was also very comfortable. I'm not sure it was as comfortable as the IMAGE but not sure it wasn't, a bit more effort to insert correctly and not as cool, but it's the sound that matters anyway and I don't think I'd be disappointed with any of the models when it comes to the sound. I'd been thinking it was time to upgrade my headphones for quite some time before the Pilgrimage and am very glad I didn't. If the public cares at all about sound quality, the Klipsch phones should sell like crazy. The IMAGE model will also appeal to those who just got to have the coolest. The Legendary Sound Of Klipsch that fits in the palm of your hand, or maybe that you can wear would be better?. How cool is that? Congratulations on an AWESOME line of products. Ben
  10. Mark, I don't really like headphones though most of my music listeniing is through headphones at work. And I never could stand any of the in ear models I've tried. But the Klipsch earphone prototypes I feel privileged to have tried as the prototypes at the Pilgrimage are not only very comfortable but deliver amazing sound... legendary Klipsch sound quality in the palm of your hands. I for one am looking forward to sticking a set in my ears! Awesome job! And it was difficult not to tell people about the Klipsch phones.
  11. Cool. I thought the textured wire was pretty cool and like Michael, I tend to get things all tangled up.

    Indy Rocks!

Saints favored by 6?[] It seems the Colts are getting no respect, not even as the defending Super Bowl champions. They'll be hard to beat if they play this well the whole year. [H] Woohoo! Go Colts! And don't count out the Saints as they're likely to have a very good year.
  13. I also noticed a rumble with the micro sized Image model when I'd tap the cable. Not sure if I tapped the earbuds other than to check that they were in my ear as they were very comfortable. I suspect the rumble in my case may have been because I didn't have a perfect seal. I had tried part of my listening with the earbuds in loose to see how they sounded with letting in some of the outside sound and that may have been when tapping the cable produced rumble. In any case, I suspect this was a user error and it was hard to believe any earphones so small and comfortable could sound so good. Even if you don't like earphones or headphones give these a listen as they're very good and you'll most likely be surprised by the sound and the comfort.
  14. Roy, Unfortunately, I think only frozen blueberries are available at the blueberry frestival. It's been a long time since they've had fresh blueberries at the Blueberry Festival [:'(] I guess the crop is too unpredictable and too difficult to keep from spoiling or it's just too much work. And probably no Blueberry electronics either if that's what you're wanting. [] Now I'm hungry for some fresh blueberries, picked off the bushes as opposed to buying in the grocery store as we normally do. Store bought just isn't the same. I'm not even sure if there's a blueberry marsh, or is it patch, near my home. I think there's still one or two near Plymouth. One would hope blueberries are in season this time of the year as this festival has been on labor day weekend from the beginning when I was knee high. Not sure how I'd ship to Arkansas if I could get some fresh ones or if they'd hold up well enough. They don't raise blueberries in Arkansas? They do have quite a few things made with blueberries. Donuts, honey, ice cream, milk shakes, pie, etc. Even had blueberry mustard a few years back but not since as my wife and daughters try to get more. Ben
  15. Amy may have the best idea ... as here in Hoosierland as it's promising to be a really NICE weekend.... Will probably spend part of the weekend up in Plymouth (IN) at the Blueberry Festival. Too many people eating junk food and milling through the crap, er crafts booths, with fireworks, a parade, live music, the Hoosier Old Wheels car show, and a parade. Will probably just hang out most of the time with family but my wife can't resist the fried blueberry donuts, nor can I (no willpower - another reason why I'm fat). Dependent on if our youngest daughter recuperates as she's been pretty sick this week. Plenty of work to do at home outside and at our youth league's soccer fields to finish getting ready for our fall season without melting in the heat. It'll be a great weekend either way with the current weather outlook.
  16. It's true then, Coytee is a Marie Osmond fan (not to mean that is a bad thing). And Chloe gets dressed in a tutu... much better than Coytee dressing like Marie. [+o(]
  17. It would seem that I also belong in time out. Though I do not own a b radio.
  18. The Klipsch earphones I tried at the Pilgrimage were amazing. The sound was far better than any headphones or earphones I'd ever heard. And they were amazingly comfortable. I think I could actually forget they were in my ears. And I've hated other in the ear 'phones I've tried and am not a big fan of headphones but work in an open office pen environment (4 per pen as opposed to 1 per cubicle) so can't turn speakers up even to background levels. Mark Blanchard should be smiling []. This product is a definite winner. The legendary sound of Klipsch, in the palm of one's hand. [H] And the tiny Image model definitley has the coolness factor. I was excited when I visited the earphone room this summer as I've been thinking of upgrading my headphones anyway (Grado SR60). I was glad I hadn't yet done so after hearing the Klipsch earphones. The really tiny version is out of my price range but the entry level model also sounded amazing and were amazingly comfortable. I didn't listen to the double armature model and the 2 ways were very much in the prototype stage so didn't try them... but budget wise (or lack thereof) I'll probably have to "settle" for the entry level model anyway. Can't wait until they go on sale.
  19. It was the 60th anniversay Klipschorn room where Coytee mentioned Marie Osmond just before Jim Hunter put on some Pink Floyd. I can't remember who made what comments about B*** but I was thinking about the one about Richard P introducing all the B*** owners to Klipsch... that was followed up with a post something to the effect I can't believe I asked the Klipsch VP of enginerring.... I'm still looking forward to the Klipsch crushing tiny cube speakers... could have a tag line when you're ready to move up from puny lightweight sound ... then being blown away by the 700. Marie Osmond at the top of Coytee's playlist? I don't know why but hilarious, or is it terrifying, images of Coytee dressing like Marie Osmond and singing along are entering my mind... what more does Chloe have to put up with? I would assume that such activities, if they were to take place, would only occur when Mrs Coytee was not home. [] I suspect a lot of the Coytee bashing is at least partially driven by Jubilee envy. [^o)] I mean really, who wouldn't want a pair of Jubilees?
  20. Would I kid when posting about Coytee? [] Ok, it is hard to be totally serious and maybe downright impossible when Richard's involved. I really have no idea if Richard loves, hates, or is indifferent about Marie Osmond. Comment also not meant to disparage Marie [:$] I mean she seems nice enough and all. But it was quite entertaining when a highly esteemed Klipsh engineer was commenting on when he first heard Klipschorns and Richard suggested Marie Osmond and was flipped the bird. Was a nice discussion in the Pilgrimage thread though I think it's since been archived. I don't think I ever bought any Marie Osmond albums, though my wife may have had a cassette or could be a Donny and Marie album in some albums I rescued from my brother. I do think I remember seeing the Donny and Marie show a time or two ... "I'm a little bit country ..." I'm not sure what Coytee listens to but would be surprised if Marie Osmond was at the top of his playlist. [] For all I know, Coytee may be president of Marie's fan club. It's interesting how a comment about B*** redemption turns into Coytee bashing. I can't remember who asked Richard, the Klipsch VP of engineering who formerly worked at B***, about needing to introduce Klipsch to all the peole he sold B*** to as a form of redemption before he left the dark side but that could have been Coytee also. .
  21. I agree with Michael. Get the mice outta there. They'll eat darn near everything though I don't remember them chewing through tractor tires back on the fam, probably too much readily available corn. We did find where they'd chewed through wood siding and sheathing to get to the corn. Even if the mice didn't chew up the speakers guts (they would) you don't want mouse doo doo in your speaker. I'd keep the cats out of and away from the speakers too, I think there claws would be drawn to the speaker cones though our couple of indoor cats pretty much left the speakers alone. I did find a pacifier in a homebuilt vented speaker once when I had to replace the bass driver.
  22. Duke, Richard P is reference to Richard Paynting, Klipsch VP of engineering who formerly worked at B*** not the Richard that goes by Coytee on the forum. Search the Pilgrimage thread though it may have been archived. Of course it may have been Coytee who asked the esteemed Richard Paynting about his days at B*** . Richard P (not Coytee) had a pair of Klipschorns at his home in Australia before his wife sold them for $200. I believe he again has Klipschorns but not that wife. Definitely has his priorities straight. Sorry for any confusion. I know Coytee can be a trouble maker from personal experience (re Pilgrimage remark about Marie Osmond) but maybe he just needs some help. Serious professional help. hmm... Jubs a new K2 and no time? I think even I could find some time for that ... maybe someone needs to strap him in front of the Jubs driven by the new K2 and play the man some music but I would avoid his beloved Marie Osmond
  23. At $15,000 some of the snooty audiophile types and reviewers (those that would deserve the [bs]) might decide they're worthy of their time and consideration. Maybe should've priced them at $20,000? Way too expensive for my blood but I suspect the cabinet will have greater WAF than Klipschorns or LaScalas or Jubilees. But considering you could get 2 pairs of Klipschorns or 60th anniversay with some change leftover they'd better be really good. Maybe there'll be more used Klipschorns on the market after these go on sale but I suspect the buyers may be those who wouldn't buy Klipschorns? Don't know, hope they sell well and at least get people to notice the other Klipsch product lines.
  24. Not sure if counts towards Richard P's redemption ... I play table tennis weekly with a person who's son (who I've also played table tennis with over the last few years) got him a great deal on some Klipsch speakers when his son worked for Best Buy in the Chicago area. He's not sure of the model, but a good sized bookshelf model that replaced a pair of B*** (rhymes with hose) most likely model 301 and is really impressed with the dramatic improvement in sound quality. The B*** are now collecting dust in his garage.
