  1. I have owned three pairs of RB-35s in my time and two of the three pairs were used in a stereo rig with very nice performance, with and without a subwoofer.  I only sold(7 years ago) my most recent pair because of the acquisition of a beautiful pair of cherry RB-75s.  The 75s are incredible in stereo and I would say that the 35s would get you about 80% there.  No shade on the 35s, just highest praise for the 75s.

Hi all. I am new to the Klipsch world and I am putting together a 5.1.4 system with the following:

    Fronts:  RP-8000F

    Center: RP-504C

    Surrounds: RP-8000F

    Atmos: RP-500SA

    Very nice setup.

I was taking a hard look at the Anthem MRX 1140 to power the system.  However, I've received comments from some friends that say the amps on this AVR are not powerful enough and recommended I go the separates route (meaning more $$$).

While I agree that separates are the "best" way to go for maximum performance, the Anthem MRX 1140 is a solid flagship AVR from a very highly praised manufacturer.  If it will meet your channel needs, I say get the MRX 740 and add a 2-channel or even better 3-channel amp later, if "needed".  The MRX 740 has basically the same internal components as the MRX 1140 but with only 7 sets of main speaker terminals.

Doing more research, I'm noticing lots of dual zone receivers are 6 ohms. I currently have an 8 ohm receiver. If I got one with 6, would that make a difference for my klipsch r820f tower or other speakers?

No, the AVR companies are rating power at 6 ohms to artificially inflate the numbers.  Any upper midlevel AVR from any of the major mfr's should do the trick just fine.

Looks to be a nice room for entertainment.

    the Yamaha A-S1200

Excellent choice for the Cornwall IVs.  Also can be used in conjunction with an AVR with "HT Bypass" function, even though Yamaha does not call it that.

Will the RP-504C work well with the CW’s?

Not ideal but probably doable because of it's horizontal orientation.

If this is a fresh build, go with a third Cornwall as a center.

Definitely ideal for timbre matching but you would have to get creative in making it happen.

That room scares me for music.

I get that the room is not perfect but in the main listening position I bet it will sound better than you might think with some added sound dampening room treatments and maybe an acoustic curtain/drapes for the sliders.

  5. @Honeyhamms,

    Welcome to the forum.

If this is for stereo playback only, I suggest an affordable stereo integrated amplifier to get your feet wet.  There are also a few modern stereo receivers that should do the trick.

Determine your budget and your overall needs and go from there.

Here are a couple of stereo receivers that will not break the bank.

A little more $$$ but highly praised and packed with features.

The speaker is on the top of a cabinet pushed out to the edge with plenty of room to breathe and in the exact height of the listeners ears.

Well that is solid proof that is not the problem.:D  Maybe wired out of phase?  Maybe not well timbre matched to the RB-61IIs.  Tough to say.

When I first got my RC-64 several years ago, I kind of thought the same as you are experiencing.  I changed amps, experimented with crossover settings, and bumped up the center channel volume a bit.  My NAD T175HD pre/pro has a setting with the tone controls called "center dialogue" and it really made a difference.  All this combined pretty much made my soundstage seamless.

  7. @Shanery,

    Welcome to the forum.

Sorry you are not quite happy with your 504c.

Where/how is your 504c placed?  Is it in a closed "tunnel" where the rear port is not allowed to "breathe"?  What are your current settings?  Is the 504C on the same plane as your ears, or is it mounted low or high?

$475.00 mint condition. They are gone.

I paid $650.00 shipped from Tacoma, Washington a few years ago for a cherry pair and they are worth every penny.  At $475.00, it is a steal.

12ft wide x  22ft long, x 7.8ft or so high once finished.  The space will be somewhat open to the adjacent game room.

With that size room(2060+ cu.ft.), I think the RP-600Ms will be just fine with the RP-504C.

I am planning on picking up SW as well.

Don't skimp on the SW by getting a 10" or 12", a 15" at minimum will have a much greater impact when those action movies are played.

  10. @Bakerlady1,

    Welcome to the forum.

You have yourself some very special speakers.

First take and post some very detailed photos to show condition.  Please de-dust them before you do, if not it will show and will not give a good visual representation of your Khorns.  Make sure you take photos of the labels as well as the internals(crossover, wiring, etc.).  Your geographic location is important because of demand.

Folks on this forum will give honest and relatively accurate estimations of their market value and this forum here is the best place to sell them.
