Bill what do you think about the Oppo for sale for this member?
Thanks!
Well,
I think it would be a bottleneck with the beastly Yamaha A-S2200 they have on order.

Yamaha CDS1000 and on days 3 and 4 of owning it, it started giving us a “no disk” error on a variety of CDs. Big disappointment
That's a shame. I bought my CD-S1000 on the used market about 4 years ago and it has been rock solid with no hiccups at all.

Welcome to the forum.
I know this is a bit late to answer your question but I would get the SPL120 any day over the R-12SW. Go look at the damaged one and demo it and then decide.

They did but sure was impressed with the poise and guts of the thrust into starting QB role with short notice Taylor Heinicke. Great leadership and boy could he zip that ball.

With these speakers "spec'd" at 57Hz - 20kHz +/- 3dB
setting the crossover at 80Hz is most likely your best bet. Try 70Hz at see(hear) what you get. Keep setting at small.
Experiment more with your subwoofer placement and settings.

@Uma,
Welcome to the forum.
Looks like you have a very nice setup.

With your surrounds, it looks like that is the best you can do but maybe move the rear surrounds about a foot each toward the center of the wall.
4 hours ago, Uma said:2. I just got the RP-502s? Will RP-600M be a better bet for the surrounds?
I think the RP-502s will be just fine.

3. Should i look into some external amplifiers for LRCThough I am a huge proponent for external amplification, I think your Denon is plenty for your 2700ft3 room.

you computer geeks ... you can fix stuff all on your own.
Let's back up. I installed the two sticks of RAM(20 seconds of effort), my buddy did the rest.

Well my 2014 Dell XPS 8700's HDD took a dump over the weekend so I was in the market for a new home computer but decided to save $700.00 to $800.00 and just fix what I have. I figured that I would add more RAM, went from 8gb to 24gb, and replace the HDD with a 500gb Samsung 860 EVO SSD and be set. Full diagnostic done on the processor(i7 4th generation) and video card(NVIDIA 645) with a clean bill of health and this thing is better than new. Did I say FAST?
Total $$$ spent, $140.00.

If the newer Denon integrated amps are even close to the build and sound quality of the 80’s/90’s PMA amps, then I don’t think you are missing out by going with the Denon. I have owned at minimum 4 of these older Denon PMA integrated and they have been nothing short of spectacular with any speakers I threw at them, especially Heresy’s, Fortes, and Quartets. Bass drive galore with a very natural sound with great detail.
The Denon’s “70w/channel” will feel like double that.

Those would be KG1's in walnut oil.
Very nice sounding little guys.

The pics might be a while, as the AS2200 is on backorder at Crutchfield. We like buying from them, as they have given us spectacular customer service for 30 years.
Stellar customer service indeed.

I prefer my 63's in plain ole stereo also. They don't disappoint at all.

Welcome to the forum.
I suggest a minimum upper midlevel AVR with at minimum stereo preouts but preferable multichannel preouts for future outboard amp addition.

How large is the base footprint of the stands you will use with the said bookshelf speakers?
Sometimes that space is the same or larger than what floorstanders would take up.
With that said, I would go with the largest bookshelf speakers in the RP line and those are the RP-600M's.

Thank you, Bill. Your response is much appreciated. The AS2200 is one of the options we have been looking at online. Happy new year to you, and thank you again.
Dave
My A-S1000 is the lowest tier of the Yamaha all analog integrated amps and it is a beast(48.5 pounds) of a piece of gear. The A-S2200 is 4 levels higher and 2 generations newer with many more discrete parts on board so I bet the combination would be that much better.
Let us know which direction you go and of course we need photos.

I have experimented with my Yamaha A-S1000 and my RF-63s in a near 5000ft3 room and the combination is wonderful. Plenty of power, spot on imaging, dynamics, bass drive, you name it. With your budget, I think the Yamaha A-S2100 or newer A-S2200 would be just about perfect.

I think your Technics should do fine for now.

I believe you only get 165W if you were to only drive one channel.
Power Output (6 ohm, 1 kHz, 10% 1ch Drive)
165 W
At 6 ohm at 1 kHz at 10%THD with 1 channel driven

I'm thinking of adding an external amp just for the front stage. How much power should these guys get?
IMO, a true 120w/ch should be plenty.
Hard to beat this for the price.

Welcome to the forum.
IMO, as far as dedicated horizontally oriented center speakers go, the RC-7 would be "best, RC-3 next and so on.
17 hours ago, Johnny777 said:I’m also interested in replacing the R-15Ms with RS-7s. Are RS-7s the best choice or is there something better to match the RF-5s?
Yes, RS-7's best, then RS-3's. RB-5 bookshelf speakers would match almost perfectly but with rear ports you would have to get creative with mounting on wall.

From what I have read and heard, REL is the standard for stereo/subwoofer integration with their proprietary cable system.
