  1. I was wondering that if I keep my remotes on my subwoofer will it damage them? I don't see anywhere on JBL's site(Here) that it is shielded, I found out the satellites that came with it are, and I am not sure if the magnet will effect the remote. I have been paranoid for too long and thought I should ask.
  2. I have a pair of RF-82s in my tiny room(9' x 9') and I find that it sounds many times better with a sub. Even with my small 8" JBL it made a big difference in a good way for me. The next thing I buy will definitely be a new sub. The funny thing is, my RF-82s actually go lower than my JBL by 2 Hz.
  3. Nuckle, is that the new Gran Turismo demo I see you playing?
  4. Check out Sanus stands. http://www.sanus.com They have lots of purdy stands.
  5. I would like to see what the new Denon's GUI menu looks like and what the Onkyo's on-screen menu looks like. I have an Onkyo that doesn't have an on-screen menu and my Denon has the boring old black and white menu. I have seen a few pictures of it that look awesome but I am not sure if they will actually look like that. I think it would be nice if the ipod menu was changed for the ASD-1R so that it looks more like the one on the ipod. I use my ipod a lot and I hate how long it takes to scroll though artists or albums to find a song.
  6. Any idea how long it will take for the big companies to start using DisplayPort? I was planning on buying a tv this weekend, but I might not if this will replace hdmi within the year...
  7. You could always put a shelf on the wall above your tv.
  8. Belkin makes a few power conditioners that are considerably cheaper, like less than half the price and seem to have most/all/more of the features that the Monster ones do. I don't know anyone that has a Belkin unit but I know for me I still can't decide between one of the Belkin's or the Monster HTS5100. http://www.pureav.com/power/
  9. Not so true.... I can think of three movies off the top of my head that are in 6.1 dts es discrete and they are the Lord of the Rings movies in their extended versions. I am sure there are more but definitely not a lot more.
  10. I wonder when it will be available in Canada and when they will have all the specs on the Denon website.
  11. HD-DVD is different than DVD. For starters it uses a smaller blue laser similar to the ones Blu-ray uses. Also most Blu-ray players are backwards compatible with DVD and sometimes CD. And can someone answer my question of who makes a HD-DVD burner for a pc?
  12. What disc drive manufacturers make HD-DVD burners? I have never seen any HD-DVD burners or blank HD-DVD discs.... only Blu-ray
  13. What you do is..... take the mac to the mac store and try to get money for it and then go to a computer store and build yourself a custom pc because it is better. As you can tell I am very biased against macs....
  14. mas...are you writing these yourself or copying other articles? They seem like they re written by a writer and it would take me half an hour to type that much.
  15. I have an Onkyo and a Denon receiver and I found that the Denon looks better and is much easier to set up. The Denon also has more features but my Denon was double the price of the Onkyo. The new Onkyo's have all the new goodies such as built in Sirius thing which I like because I bought a subscription and have used it only a handful of times. The new Onkyo's seem to be a great value but there is also gonna be new receivers from other brands this year I would expect. If I could get over the ugliness of the Onkyo I would probably go that way. I also know that my Denon sounds amazing with my new RF-82s I picked up this morning.
  16. On the quiet computer part... I have always custom built my PCs myself. I have found that even the quietest CPU fans are still pretty loud ( about 20-30 db's I think) especially if you have a cheap case. If you go liquid cooling you generally need a bigger louder fan for the radiator so that route isn't any better. There is fan-less power supplies out there but I have never tried them. If you buy a nice expensive case that would probably help the most because they will put in rubber seals and what not to stop the noise a bit. Also all the case windows I have had have always vibrated so I would avoid them. From what I have looked at, Zalman seems to make the quietest and best performing fans. I also found that you don't really need all the case fans. When I unplugged them in my computer the temp only went up a few degrees on the processor and memory. Cleaning out the dust in the case helps a lot to keep cool as well. The temp in my computer went down 15 degrees celcius just from cleaning out dust. Video card fans are also quite loud and can sometimes be replaced with better more quiet fans. I guess it just depends on how much money you want to spend to make it quiet.
  17. On the topic of two subs....can I put two subs on my receiver if there is only one pre-out? I am guessing you just need a Y-cable.
  18. Have you seen this post? http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/thread/934472.aspx
  19. I was just gonna suggest to use a vacuum! My dad who has been doing car audio for like 30 years told me when i was like 8 and I had never actually tried it. I thought there was no way it would work but I guess it does. I am glad to finally know.
  20. Could it be this company? http://www.dali-usa.com/int/ They seem to have a product line called Ikon and they look like they might be expensive.
  21. When I was in there the other day I made him turn on the amp and it sounded waaaaaaay nicer than the Onkyo's next to it. I don't know how to explain it....it was just so much more pleasing to my ears. If I had that much money around I would buy it. Mind you that is the only tube amp I have ever listened to.
  22. Not that I am a big fan of arguing but.... I have read in a few places that Blockbuster rents them in stores. Previously it was both and now its only Blue-Ray. http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D8PR74V80&show_article=1 also http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=257 or http://www.engadget.com/2007/06/17/blockbuster-chooses-blu-ray-is-the-war-over/ They all seem to have the exact same information but these are what I found quickly looking at Google. There was also an article in my local newspaper.
  23. I don't know about the states but up here in Canada Blockbuster has stopped renting hd-dvd's and will only be renting blue-ray and normal dvds now. This could be a big step towards Blue-Ray winning the fight.
  24. I believe in the UK or Britain or somewhere in Europe 220v is standard for homes.
  25. Wow what a great find. I never realized just how big those are until I saw then in your truck bed....Man they look HUGE! Makes me want em even more!
