  1. There's not much documentation other than a mounting template and blueprint. I'm real happy with the Jelco arms. I own a 250st that came supplied with my Avid table and they're very well made. I'm using an SME 345 on the Avid now, which is much better than the Jelco's, mainly for ease of setup. It should be better since it retails for 3x the 750d price. I may install the 345 on the Thorens for the heck of it.
  2. He sells on eBay, and his page is : http://www.td-124store.com/
  3. I bought my stuff from Jim Campbell in PA. Great service with excellent prices.
  4. The right end of the editing toolbar is the smileys dictionary. I guess i don't know what you mean.
  5. I need to add that since these are old, they compete with many modern tables, an by the way they're quiet!
  6. I wish I could put paragraph breaks here with my Mac. Any way Ki is a standup guy and a great addition to the forum. Thanks Ki!!
  7. I was looking for a Thorens TD-124 in the garage sale area a few weeks ago and Ki offered me his. I cut a deal with him and now I'm a proud owner of this piece of audio history. Ki could of sold this table on Audiogon or eBay for much more than I paid, but he'd rather sell to a Klipsch member at a lower cost, fortunately for me. I rebuilt the motor and platter bearing, then bought a plinth from Jim in PA. I didn't want the SME II improved, so that was part of the deal where Ki could keep it. I installed a Jelco 750D tonearm with a light headshell for my AT 150mlx. I found out the cartridge was no longer working properly with in the right channel (who knows what happened there). I robbed my Koetsu Black that I had mounted on my Avid and here it is. It gets up too speed after a couple revolutions, and it takes over two minute to spin down from 33.3 rpm.
  8. My sentiments exactly. Very well put, even the part where you buy everything he releases on vinyl.
  9. Howard 100 and 101, I know it's lowbrow, but it keeps me smiling in my work vehicle. I listen exclusively to analog music at home.
  10. I agree with you Larry, after I found the Avid/koetsu combo it's hard to look any further. Although I'm curious about the vintage idler sound.
  11. Thanks Islander, those look like great turntables. I thought the Statement was belt.
  12. My taste hasn't really changed, but it has broadened. I like Jazz much more than I used to. I'm listening to "Workingman's Dead" as I type, which I've loved since the first day I heard it.
  13. I'd like to hear a Shindo sometime to see if they're worth their spendyness.
  14. is this the pic of one of the new heresys ?????? if so why would they not match the grain from side to top, especially since these were hand built to order, and to say the least new hersey 3's are far from cheap.................i would definately expect grain matching !!!!!!!!!!!! glad to hear you are happy with them overall though Joe They look like they match pretty well to me. edit: I see what you're talking about, but they still look great.
  15. A 45 rpm that I highly recommend, Chris Whitley's "Dirt Floor" . I saw him as a warm up with Warren Zevon when I lived in Aspen. After the show we had a great conversation. Unfortunately he passed away in 2005 of lung cancer at the age of 45. This album was all recorded in a cabin with a 1/4" reel to reel and a mike hanging from the ceiling. The sound is incredible.
  16. Neil Young, "After The Gold Rush", and his new release, "Live At Massey Hall" both give me a very emotional response.
  17. All I can say is it's the best amp I've owned with my Lascala's. I've had a Craig rebuilt Scott, Jeff Rowland Model Two, and Quicksilver Horn Mono's, and the VRD 45st out performs all of the previous amps hands down(to me). I've not heard the mono's, but I'm sure they're a good step above the Stereo amp. Call Craig, he can tell you the difference in sonics between the two, and I think he gives discounts to forum members also. Here's a link to a photo http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/storage/4/933786/front%20(Medium).JPG Here's a thread http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/p/86241/868941.aspx#868941
  18. Have you considered a Stereo VRD? It's less expensive than the mono blocks.
  19. That's the setup I'm using also after experimenting with many other variations. And Craig's right about the Tractrix horns, they're amazing, especially coupled with Alk JR's. My system's never sounded this good.
  20. Happy Birthday Craig!!! Hope you're enjoying the new digs.[^]
