  1. Just missed a craigslist list advert for a Pioneer Elite VSX27TX for $60. Could have picked it up last evening but too lazy. Was next in line. Was going to do2 channel plus sub. Don't know if I am happy or sad...
  2. I look at like this Earl, you will not get another chance like this, your there, it's there, buy the DAM thing. Someone here will take it off your hands, and may even pay for gas For sure! Sounds like you want a road trip anyway and the weather is cooperating...? No cabin fever now...
  3. On the road again!Good stuff! Had me some smoked mullet dip for breakfast...mmmmmmmnnnnnn! Almost recuperated and getting ready for the black-eyed peas, rice, and ham. Nothing too exotic like smoked hog jowls or knuckles but, it will do. Some cooks put some baking soda in their peas while cooking, suppose to be not so gassy. Other's put the lid ajar while cooking to relieve the gas. I prefer loosing the gas the old school natural way.
  4. Time to move on this one you folk up there!
  5. We have mullet where I fished in Louisiana, we used it for bait usually to catch real fish, never tried to eat it, but I would. :o

  7. Bob will fix you up alright!
  8. Reminder to self...p/u eggnog fresh, jicase the rum starts to run...Yep some seafood or pizza the day before or Christmas Eve is sometime traditional too. It is all good. Wish I was a little closer
  9. Tarheel is a man of many talents I'm sure. He gets a guitar a month ago and he's already writing tunes -- well done brother, and Merry Christmas. And Merry Christmas Eve to the rest of you too! Could be in for a rough one in SoCal...standby, i actually saw a cloud in the sky this morning. But, it's 7:30 and the sun is shining, so no panic yet. Thanks, you too! Tarheel already writing songs...multi-talented. Show us your instrument...

  11. never heard of it … is there another fish that you can compare it to (taste wise)? Sortof unique but good. If you like grouper, you would like mullet.
  12. Now don't be stretching the truth now, I am sure you could think of something. Never had Mullet before, but I have never met a fish I didn't like. Yes, they are limits to my contentment. Ready for some foods like maybe ham, pumpkin pie, mincemeat pie w/hard sauce, homemade fruitcake, red velvet cake, etc..dressing...even that inevitable green bean casserole. Fresh saltwater mullet is always welcome and has better reputation than the haircut. You would like mullet then! All weekend and up till now and beyond, we are experiencing a regular deluge of rain. Local flooding widespread. Around 10+ inches so far... Will put a temporary hurting on a burlap sack of oysters friend was wanting for New Years. He is a oyster schucking eating fool! Nancy is at sister's
  13. It is good fried if you know how. Some people, who know how smoke them. They are just good tasting fish, They are a schooling fish, usually caught with a net. Price and availability are sometime iffy since the Japanese discovered them. They can grow larger and are also prized for their red or white roe in cooler time of year, which are also fried. 3rd leading fish I just heard recently in that Omega-3 oil. Eating them since a kid. West coast mullet(gulf) are much better eating than east coast (St. Augustine) which are good enough if fried when caught or smoked. Some folk ****** them when running. A five pound bull mullet is a monster. Typically smaller are taken and eaten. Traditionally eaten with hushpups, coleslaw, cheese grits, and swamp cabbage if available to be cooked by someone who knows how. Figured you would have had dtel...
  14. Last night got AYCE shrimp and mullet at Coastal restaurant. Hushpuppies could have been better but, pot salad and cheese grit were pretty decent. Only 3 slabs of mullet before I was content. If I get nothing else this week, I will be content... Or so I say...
  15. Took the scenic ride farther south before cutting over at the Brooksville exit to I-75. Took around the same length of time and even a few less miles...rainy weekend here and a bit foggy. Friend was waiting for me here when got home at 2:00 AM. Time flew till 5:30 AM when we crashed after listening to music, and a glass or 2 of wine. Now to pickup Nancy 50 miles away. Guess you have to not dislike driving...too much!
  16. Wow, was just listening to him this morning early...RIP Joe!
  17. We are taking the second pie along with red beans and rice (with sausage of course) to a friends house for their supper tonight. Sadly, the mother of the house is terminally ill with pancreatic cancer. She is only 52 years old and has 13 yr old twins. We are all long time friends. That is much too young, and with twins. Do hope they have a very good enduring Christmas. Has to be tough. Rice and bean eater's here...with sausage.
  18. Yes, had a waveless type of waterbed...king size and yes even in Florida a heater is a must. Them pies look good. Like a woman that know how to cook multiple pies. Only thing I can recall spraining was big toe sprained while walking on the waterbed. Now where was I ...pie
  19. Like my nog straight too. Some may say that Crown in nog would be a waste of Crown. Had some Crown with ice and then some Ginger Ale.with Crown. May be overated but, pretty decent OTR. Bought a fifth of Myers Dark rum too. Would be good in nog Cheers and drive carefully if at all. Has to be enough in nog to taste the rum. CLC is certainly alright as is the Black Velvet. This from one who used to drink a little. Coffee and then I show them one more time how to get to Tampa via the bottleneck, Wildwood...
  20. Yep, the beeker and others... like everybody Deserve to get blessed out for my impertenance...and spelling...
