  1. LOL 1 Guy with the cigar says "Hit it again", "I need a bigger hammer! That gave me another idea, you actually are restamping it! "Where is that damn steamroller?"
  2. ***EXPERIMENT: If over 18 you may try the glass sandwich approach, but in a microwave oven instead. If the waves are not yielding temperatures suitable after a couple of minutes on this non organic material(s) spray Pam on the issue to act as a catalyst for heat induction. This is my more modern approach over the old oven, which yielded less than desirable results. Back then clamps was too profound for my processes! Clamps = Genius, IMHO !
  3. I will! I found a couple of auto paint and body suppliers/shops local from website(sem) locator.
  4. And BTW, let's not forget www.garage-a-records.com 1-800 800 7597 for maybe a better deal than needle for some things.
  5. VTA is Vertical Tracking Angle and refers to the angle at which the stylus meets the surface of the record. It's usually adjusted by changing the height of the tonearm mounting and can make a difference in the sound. A good starting point is to set the arm so it's level when the stylus is resting on a record of the thickness you usually play (some records, especially the expensive 180-gram ones, are a bit thicker than usual). With the Technics decks and some others, it's a simple adjustment. Certain other brands can only be adjusted by shimming (adding and subtracting washers under the tonearm pivot) and some can't be adjusted at all.Yes that's right, thanks! Been about a month since last attempt, so will do all the steps 1 at a time, starting with my torpedo level for TT!
  6. Was looking for that info! Thanks! Going to try it!
  7. Like the dust cover, needle sounds like could work for awhile(?) Reads like OK! Looks like a simple dimple!
  8. OK, thanks! I'm gonna try some more again, things got out of kelter and problem putting back. Original poster is going Technics I read so I likemine when right! When I give up, I do see deals on decent tables I can check out. Patience billybob! Thanks !

  10. I do not know about "re-calibration" Find out hwat he means. If it was never set up right then that is easy to fix. If he ran over teh arm with his Buick it is another story. To set up the Technics table just take off the headshell (it unscrews) and use an included plastic alignment tool. Pretty easy to do. Pop the headshell back on and balamce the arm (so that it floats level). This is also really easy to do because the counterweight screws on teh back of the arm. After it is level, use the dial and dial in the amount of force. Set the anti-scate dial to the same level. Finally, measure the height of the cartridge, look it up on a chart and dial in the right amount of VTA. Everthing is done using dials on the Technics. Takes maybe 1/2 hour max to set up. As far as the VPI. I just didn't like it. It seemed like too much work to spin vinyl. The Technics is easy to use and sounds great in my system. It makes me want to listen to more vinyl. Without looking it up again what is VTA? Since noticing I needed a new stylus and replacing it, I have had it close but no cigar. I received no alignment tool(plastic with my stylus replacement. Not wanting to go off topic here but I sure enjoyed my Technics until had to replace stylus and it has been tedious to dial/tweak it all back in. That is why I have reluctance to acquiring any TT that has to be shipped/setup. Meanwhile I have 2 Technics TT's here that was thinking might work. I did read some material here and elsewhere about it(tweak)and might try again. Just hope I haven't scewed new stylus up meanwhile.
  11. http://treasure.craigslist.org/ele/607016348.html This poster has other Technics TT listings and for a clean Sansui. Anytime you can physically pickup a TT after auditioning and carefully deliver it back to your sound room, that would (as you no doubt already know) be highly preferable over a shipped one, in my limited TT shipping experience. I have 1 SL-23 and a Panasonic/Technics Series 2000 (1200) TT's each of which I cannot get adjusted properly.
  12. Yes, if you like a little sci-fi X marks the spot. Part with the boppers outlandish! Have to give it another listen!
  13. Well then, I might not write off the idea just yet. Lots of colors and probably some UV protection. LOL
  14. Thanks for the timely post. I was going in a different direction: http://www.fabricspraypaint.com/Default.asp?Folder=156&Name=_Upholstery_Fabric_Spray_Paint I had forgotten, or had not got that far in my thing, that there is such a thing as Rit dye! I like your results!
  15. OK! Maybe Jack on the album?! Hopes he makes a recovery in any case. Jack leaned/sat on stool when blowing harmonica at the London performance of Cream (2005) reunite. Don't know if was relevant as several performances, as I may recall, could take toll on anyone.
