  1. About a month or so I was seeking exactly the same. After several auditions I finally bought an Hybrid called ACRH-1. The sound is simply "orgasmical". It will really deliver all the tonal qualities of Tube amplifiers using a SS out. The same day (in the same location) I listened to pure Tubes and a SS, I would say that my Hybrid is capable of 95% of what an all tubes solution can. Oh, and the bass is more "tight". http://www.margules.com.mx/magenta.htm You can get more info here: service@margules.com.mx
  2. You can find the info here: http://www.margules.com.mx/magenta.htm There are reviews on Audioasylum and Usenet. Im will post a review soon, in case you were interested. It has done marvelous things for my gear. Now it is more musical than ever. About your Forte's, why do you have that impression? I say you have pretty musical speakers over there. The "problem" with some Horn speakers is that they are very revealing, thus having a good source and good amplification is a most. I can assure you that with the ADE24 you will make wonders to your sound. You can contact them using this email, they have replied very fast everytime I asked something: service@margules.com.mx
  3. bobd Does this happens to you only with CD's? I know two "cures" for that. The first and most important would be to get a tube pre (assuming your yamaha accept the connection) or to get the Margules ADE-24. Every trace of harshness is gone from my system, it sound much more "analog" now.

  5. 1. What Heritage speakers have you owned, currently own, or want to own? Own Heresy's, want Klipschorn's 2. What was your age when you first purchased a Heritage series loudspeaker? 26 3. What is your current age? 36 4. Why did you choose Heritage loudspeakers over another Klipsch model? Price 5. If you currently own some Heritage loudspeakers, and could purchase some more Klipsch speakers(new or used), which ones would you purchase? Why? Klipschorn's Why? Because they are still one of the best speakers in the world without considering the price. 6. Do you think the upcoming Jubilee should become part of the "Heritage" line, since it was also designed by PWK? I will wait to see/hear them before make an opinion!
  6. If you really want the unquestionable best for your money you need to go the DIY route. For around that amount you can make a sub which is comparable to a SVS Ultra and because of that better than anything else up to a price of around $2,000.
  7. Lol! Nope, but Im very happy with my still brand new system. I have spent just about a month with my new integrated and the black box...
  8. I agree soundog. That's what I use. I noted on your equipment's list that you say the brightness of horns is a weakeness. I think you will love to try this unit: http://www.margules.com.mx/magenta/ade.htm I have been unable to disconnect it from my gear
  9. I finally found it! It is indeed a nice recording, this is the third HDCD I listen and the three have been fantastic recordings. And the bass, this is indeed a nice test for it. No longer I will need to recurre to some MP3 bass tests to show my friends what my equipment is able to do.
  10. Wow! I wasn't aware of that. Yes, this is what I have, a solid metal (don't know how to say it but think on it as a stubby clip). I will definitely try some interconnects!
  11. I agree with Mobile. In fact, I have an Hybrid Integrated which uses a Tube preamp and in a separated circuity a SS amp (the only connection between them is a piece of metal connected as a cable between the pre outs to the amplifier inputs). I falled in love with this unit within the first minute. In the same room the manufacturer have both tube preamps and tube amps and I can sincerely say that the sound of my much cheaper Hybrid is not far behind. There was another Integrated in the room, a pure SS Harman Kardon, and I couldn't stand it after listening to tube gear. http://www.margules.com.mx/magenta/acrh1.htm
  12. I still don't understand this new forum very well, this post was meant for another thread... sorry!
  13. Im very happy with the results Im getting from a "black box" called ADE 24. It definitely make the sound more believable, imaging is now more crisp and defined. The sound is definitely more analog like. Here is the link: http://www.margules.com.mx/magenta/af24.html Mobile, I wish you were interested in trying it, specially since you are an analog lover.
  14. Mike82, I have them running with an Hybrid tube-ss integrated, they sound much better now than with my old ss gear. I will go to audition some AG's, they are a little far away from here, but I think the experience will justify it. Demystifying hype is always interesting. ------------------ Sony 1bit D/A CDP C315, Margules ACRH-1, ADE-24, Klipsch Heresy, Tempest DIY subwoofers>
  15. Mike, just for the sake of curiosity, have you compared the K-Horn vs other members of Klipsch family? I'm specially interested in the little Heresy's. This message has been edited by Manuel on 09-24-2002 at 09:33 AM
  16. AndyKub, To my knowledge it only works with CD's not SACD. Im using it to improve the sound of my old Sony CDPC315 (which uses 1 bit pulse D/A) and I just love it. Check on Audioasylum for comments on the unit. Deang, I think you will fall in love with the ADE, give it a try! Reading on Audioasylum I noted that, apparently, no one has given back an ADE once they have listened a CD through it. I understand perfectly why... 17. The only way I have found to vastly improve the sound of CD's (using any CD player) is with this little marvel: ADE24 Do a search over the Internet, specially on Usenet and see the reviews and user's opinions. The ADE24 can make the sound more convincing. The highs become clearer and less harsh, the mids acquire new life and some details that were some how lost or sounded "fuzzy" become more transparent. Even the bass becomes more natural and convincing. One have to listen to it to believe it, it is a wonderful and yet cheap product. Highly recomended. 18. Hey Mobile, I visited your page. It is a really beautiful design! Congratulations.
  19. Mobile, thanks for your advice. I need to tell you that I have listened to pure tube gear and that the sound is almost the same. This is not the typical Hybrid, I think. In fact the same day I listened to pure tubes, this integrated and a SS. This last one was simply horrible compared to the all tube's, but this hybrid gave, so to speak, 90% of the sound of the pure tube gear at a much affordable price. Of course, I agree with you in the sense that I can do still better with an all tube solution, but the ones I really want are out of my league for the moment. In conclusion, I don't know which Hybrids have you listened, but I can assure you, this one is a jewel. This message has been edited by Manuel on 09-16-2002 at 04:34 PM
  20. Tubes. Yes. I experienced the impressive musicality of such systems. I can't wait for my next buy, and Hybrid Integrated with Tube pre and SS amp. Later I can add a pure Class A Tube amplifier and get an all tube sound. MARGULES ACRH-1 This message has been edited by Manuel on 09-16-2002 at 08:45 AM
  21. Malcolm I know the effect is real, and that difficult loads as Electrostats can be driven correctly with good damping. So, is not that I don't believe in what you say. My point remains, listening to non difficult load speakers with tubes will render a superior listening experience, the bass will sound "tighter" and far more realistic. No need to argue this point, everyone can have the experience for themselfs. Hmm and if you said that I sound like an audiophile I expect that you were actually making a compliment! But I don't consider myself as that, because I try not to get lost in conceptual nonsense.
  22. It should be the crossover in the amp. Good luck. I think you will love the sound!
