Being as I'll end up most likely building them myself, I could still mount the tweeter above the mid. It would just make the cabinets a tad taller than the original Belle which wouldn't matter that much since they're mine. Plus, tweeter is a little close to ear level like that, too.

Yeah, I had recently emailed Bob about them and other options. The crossover is a tough part if I go 2 way as I don't have the tools to design all of that. Bob could do crossovers if I go Fatial drivers and horns, though. Had seen Dave's, too, but it puts tweeter on sides instead of same plane. Might not be bad but... Using a quote from John Candy, "I'd have a better chance of finding a 3 legged ballerina than I would finding a set of K-500 horns". Lol

Where does the K-55-M fall into the range of the K-55's? t seems that's an argumentative point for some. lol

Yeah. Been emailing him back and forth. Based on that serial number and the pictures, which version K-55 is in there? I just hate spending a wad of cash on something and then start changing things out. The hardest part of building them is not coming up with a K-500 horn for the mid.

I would want Belle's. The La Scala's are just too deep for the living room layout I have now. They would stand out like a turd in a punchbowl.

Those appear to have Crites tweeters in them.

Deoxit on the controls. Even if it was refurbished (depending on what was actually done), those old control pots still go back to being noisy eventually it seems like.

Decided on the ST-70. That will be plenty for the speakers I have.

VTA ST-70 ordered this morning with 6550 tube set. This amp will be more than plenty for the 99db sensitivity CF-3's I use and also with the Belle clones I'll be building later. I ordered it with the both capacitor upgrades, the 3 pole speaker connections for 4 and 8 ohm taps, and the stepped attenuator. Looking forward to the amp coming later this week!
