  1. Well, Bob and Roy both seem to feel that the ST-120 and Mk3's are too much power and not needed for the Klipsch speakers. Bob said to save my money and get the 70 and still stays with that opinion. Maybe the 70 is the one to go with for now and put that other money towards my other projects.
  2. I deliberate this a little more now as even Roy at tubes4hifi mentioned that's quite a bit of power for Klipsch speakers. Maybe I should just go back to the ST-70 and call it good.
  3. Waiting on a price on them now. I don't believe they have switching for running in pentode or triode mode like the 70 and 120 but that's not a deal breaker.
  4. Sooo.....what kind of amp is running them?
  5. I had emailed Bob back saying I didn't mind spending the extra money but he seems to be more on the side of saving it and staying with the stereo version. Maybe he doesn't have as much to do with those amps as the others?
  6. About $200 difference but you have 2 separate power supplies but no real major SQ advantage. I could sit one on each speaker though. Ha
  7. I've decided on the Bob Latino ST-120 amplifier pretty much and am ready to place my order. But then I start pondering if it would be worth it to spend another $200 for the MK3 mono blocks. I know there's advantages to having separate PS's per channel which won't make that much difference in SQ. I believe Bob said the ST-120 has a 13lb transformer and the MK3's use an 8lb per chassis.
  8. I'm guessing this transformer isnt anything too special.

    Disapointed

Location, need/desire, money, color, condition, etc.
  10. These might be a drive but within budget. Posted on another thread. No affiliation. https://mattoon.craigslist.org/ele/5972169602.html
  11. If I could only just happen to come across a pair of Belle K-500 horns so I wouldn't have to build, I'd just get a pair of these and a pair of CT-120's to go with my new K-33 woofers for the Belle clones. But K-500's just don't come out much.
  12. Thank you all for your kind comments and your thoughts and prayers. It's going to be a busy week and some months thereafter but I know we'll make it thru it.
  13. Mom passed away peacefully at 5:50am this morning. Thank you all again for your thoughts and prayers.
  14. Thanks for the reply, Mike. Was leaning more the VTA direction.
  15. I think this transformer is on a chassis that came from an Allen organ. Only number on it is P-60938. Anyone ever heard of the company? Any use in DIY?
  16. One week later, she's still alive but Dr's say 72 hours or less. She's not been responsive to anything in a week and is almost in a comatose state. I went to see her earlier for awhile and came back home to sleep in my own bed for the first time in two weeks. I know in my heart that I've done all I can do and I have no regrets. I'll go to work tomorrow, also for the first time in two weeks, and just wait for the call when they say it's close or she's gone. It's in God's hands...it has been in God's hands. Thanks again for the thoughts and prayers.
  17. Well, with all this time I've spent in the hospital with my mother in hospice care, I've pondered more. So if it were down to a choice of a Bottlehead Stereomour II 2a3 amp versus the Latino ST-70/120 at similar price points, what's everyone's personal opinion of what they'd go with? It would be run on my CF-3's (99db @ 1 watt) for now and eventally Belle clones (103db). I know....some like more tube power, some like the allure of the SET sonic nature (which I'm curious of as well) Again, just curious of others opinions and I take them as such.
  18. What 45 tube amp are you using? Thanks for the info.
  19. Just have them pull the backs off and look at the woofers and maybe snap a photo. If they're good with that.
  20. The surrounds are all rubber. Should be good to go depending on storage. My best friend has a pair of my quarter century old Monitor 10b's in his garage and they're still fine.
  21. Join the Polk forum and I believe you can get them for under $50. May have changed, though. Got to give Polk credit; they still stock and supply parts to people that run those "quarter century old speakers". And you don't have to jump through fiery hoops to get them. Except for passive radiators....those are unobtanium for the most part.
  22. 6 to 1 or half dozen of the other...I'd fall in that same boat. Ha
