  1. i think paul was a genius and the last american pioneer in speaker devolpement.however i have mnot done too much research on any company. If joe smoe's speakers sound good to me,those are the 1's i'll look into.Whats you point? paul or amar don't pay my rent,i don't put thast much time into whos company did what.once agqain i got a pair of 601"s 4 100$on ebay.they work 100% and sound very well,on there own. however with the match up w/ the r-7,isnt to well.the center over powers the maybe an ohm conflict.i didnt go to school 4 this stuff.but i like learning.school me please.im not an ignorant person.the 601's sound good however they lack the crisp mids, that you can only get from a horn.
  2. i use a h/k avr7000 got a carverpm1.5 but not connected yet. what you think ,most of the time i use it 6channel thru my x-fi soundblaster on my computer.what you think time to upgrade ?Yeah thats a little to far,but thanks .Remember im Brooklyn, thats in New York for those who don't know.also 800 is kind ve steep4 me .nut im sure i could sell the 601's if it comes to it.some1 said the lascala's lack base need a sub.How can that be if each has a 15"woofer.maybe the crossovers are not setup 4 bass?I know 15's in a house is a lot of woofer.should be a lot of bass.
  3. i just made a sub10 out of maple wood.Looks pretty sounds good. But at the moment i am construsting a rt-10.just completed the 10th coat of laquer,1o more to go.I'm sure they will fit the bill.any 1 got an od pair of lascala's?"
  4. so do u like the 601's series 3?i been around EV and JBL,gauss all my life. But i know there is much better,i'm not well off like you guys.Just had my 1st baby boy. don't get me wrong ,i'm not a bose fan,if anything i'm a Acoustic Researh fan.Mark Levinson use to use the m3 to demostare his amps.Did you know that.I have a pair of m3.Their not so great. but their other models are amazing.I have not really heard klipsch yet, except for the sub10 i have. And the rt10 and rc-7 that i made using their drivers.Best sound so far.I really would like to hear the lascala's
  5. got something good for you.Check this site out. http://www.partsexpress.com/webpage.cfm?webpage_id=3&CAT_ID=48&ObjectGroup_ID=831
  6. i m using the 10 1/2 inch klipscvh horh.i think its 10x8.doyou have a cros over you can sell me? the box and ports are same dimensions.if you need the #'s off the horn i will furnish.btw i am building a rt7 sub woofer . i need the radiators any idea where i can get them? thank youfor taking the time to respond.
  7. WHERE DO YOU GET THE UPGRADED CROSS-OVERS?aND HOW MUCH DO THEY COST?sorry for the caps ,i hate typing.
  8. heli is a good idea.or use a lead anchor i.m sure that will work w/self tapping screw
  9. would a fatterr screw work?if not remove the plastic, get anwall anchor that will fit from the hardware store.or you can fill the hole by jamming or filling the hole with a piece of wood.tap in with hammer.now you can use a regular self tapping screw.hope that helps.on the box i made i just used regular sheetrock screws.always used thm w/evry box i made.why did the screw get stripped in the first place?
  10. i answered you already on how to fix if the screws screw directly into wood.are there metal threads on the box where the screw screws into?take a photo and ill figure something out for you.i just got a rt 10 sub woofer.i want tro make a box ,maybe buy 2 radiators.any 1 got rt10 box dimensions?its a sectagon.please in clude illastration. thanks for port sizes.ill post a pic, when finished.also made a sub10,usin cherry wood, unfortunitly only had a sony amp,but still sounds good\
  11. does the screw ,screw into wood or is there like a threaded molley? If wood ,you can try a fater screw or you can take another peice of wood break of ,like a large splinter ,just bigger then the hole and wedge it in .Tap it with hammer then cut the excess off.Now you can use a self tapping screw again.
  12. im building my own rc-7.I got the woofers new off of ebay.I made the box out of cherry woodto the same dimensions .but i cant find out the dimensions of the ports. Can you please tell me.
  13. plase tell me the size of the ports inn thev rear of your rc 7
  14. What jbl's? i have a pair of 900's
  15. thank you. anywayI meant the rc-7 i thought you made a typo
  16. Yes i have asked evreyone!! .And nobody seemed to help me,yet that is.This newbie might be able to teach an old dog some new tricks. Are you willing to share that classified infomation with me.I just want to get as close as possible to the sound the klipsch generate.I know how to calculate port sizes depending on the frequency you want to produce. But being 1 woofer cuts off brfore the other ,maybe an exception in port size is in needed.Thank you kindly[]
  17. i never heard the ls nor ever sen them i was 9 in 80.wouldn't mind listening to them.I'm not to much a bose fan.actually i think Bose isn't great at all ,but they did make a good sound ing speaker (601)maybe got lucky.<don't like the 901.i perfer more bass.i use to dj profesionally.I was around all the bigger boys of speaker, gauss, jbl EVand so on.Not the better end of listemimg, but the more powerful end.I did studio work also . I just recently got introdued to the finer end of listenequipment.Just picked up a h/k avr7000 ,nothing special ,but clear and strong. For a house that is.My carver pm15 sits in the closet way too powerful.Thats from my dj ing years.also had 2 crowns and a soundcraft for back up.But for 100 buck{price i paid for the 601's}Probably the best deal i ever got in the speaker world, atleast the most enjoyable. They are accompanied with my new self built Rc-7.Got the woofer s for 20 bucks, subsituted a the klipsch horm with an EV.I still need the port sizes.but it sound awesome .I'm starting to reaal;y like klipsch.Got the sub10.alos built a 2nd sub10 out of maple wood.It acually sounds better then the `1 i paid 499 for.cost---60 fior the woofer .and the wood .had an amp. BUT I'm all ears .Yous been around this longer then i have.educate me please. ps i use AR in the rear. I'm kind of fomd of AR also.Got rid of my polk i38's for the AR red box bookself speakers. Also have a pair of m3 i'm going to get rid of.
  18. i had a pair of newer 301's.i think series 4.with rear firing tweeter.CRAP! For 300 and change 4 a bookshelf speaker .not worth half of that. but the 1st and 2nd series are very well sounding.I use to be a pro dj in NY i heard all brands.but for 2 8" woofers the bass is very full.Too bad they didn't add a horn to them .Wait s minute, maybe i will.I have 2 Ev horns.Lets see what i can do.Btw does any1 own the Klipsch rc-7? i just built 1 i need the dimensions of the rear firing ports.
  19. I Recently brought 2 8" klipsch woofers from ebay .They are the same 1"s in the rc-7 .I built a box same dimmensions as the center rc7.I been making boxes for over 15 years.{x car audio installer}.Can any 1 tell me what diameter and lenght the rear ports are? Also is the rc 7 use filler material .I wanted to buy the 60x90 but its over 200$.I used a ev horn,i fell they r almost as good .It sounds great alreadty, just neeed to tune it with the proper size ports.Some1 please help.
