  1. for all of you floyd heads out there(indy, etc), here is another good one to add to your collection! gilmour's 'live in gdansk' is basically the same song list as the 'live at royal albert hall' set, with the exception of a few different tunes. there is a symphony orchestra on the sidelines as well. i got the 4 disc set which includes 2 dvd's, and 2 cd's($40). the first dvd is the entire concert. the second dvd is some of the same songs performed elsewhere. the second dvd disc also includes a dts 5.1 surround (audio only) version of the album 'on an island'. the best part of the second dvd, atleast in my opinion, are the three jam sessions recorded in an old renovated barn turned studio. you see some really great shots of everyone having a genuine good time, including the late richard wright. the two cd's are and added bonus with all of the concert on them. the video is very good and sound is also very good in dolby d.
  2. very nice equipment indeed! i don't think i'll be listening that intently to vinyl, just on occassion. everyone seems to give a thumbs up to the technics. how about the old school hard to find jvc's? harry has a super nice one that i don't think i can refuse. also, what should i expect sound quality wise as compared to digital? it seems all the old vinyl i played as a kid had a warmer, or be it fuller sound?
  3. i have a 20 year old or so jvc belt drive cheapo turntable that sounds just bearable. i am looking for something that would be a vinyl comparable to the oppo dvd player- i.e. best bang for the buck. i'm thinking $300 or so. any input will be much appreciated.
  4. Eagles- The Long Run. what a great album. remastered.
  5. check out acousticsounds.com they have the best selection of sacd and dvd audio if that is what you are after. there are also quite a few of both always listed on ebay. be prepared though, most of the good stuff is out of print. i paid over $60 for the eagles hotel california dvd audio.
  6. bummer... he really shines on the gilmour live at royal albert hall dvd.
  7. Widespread Panic: Driving Songs Volume 1: Summer 2007. 3 disc set all live at various stops in the summer 2007 tour. only available online, or at your local indie record shop. i have heard many live albums done pretty well, but the quality of recording and mixing that went into this disc set is stunning. a real 'stereo' experience. maybe a little much for the first time listening to these guys, but very good jams. since the addition of jimmy herring in 2007, they sound more like the first few albums- great tunes with a dark underbelly. these guys tour year round and have done so since around 1990. widespreadpanic.com
  8. ob, not sure if you are into dvd audio or sacd, but 461 ocean blvd. is available on sacd and it sounds incredible!
  9. NOTE: NOT directed at you... but your chrome comment reminded me of this... SO TRUE!! funny pic though... to bad you can't see the dudes expression.
  10. black and chrome!! if it don't shine, it ain't mine.... chrome will get you home!!! [H]

  13. wasn't there an instance here with a guy trying to bomb the summer games in atlanta a few years back?
  14. my old '97 doesn't have any dings only because every other year or so, i take it to a guy i know who does paintless dent repair for a living. i'm truly sorry about the gouges in your paint though. as if insurance deductibles aren't high enough... ob is right on about people not having any respect for other peoples property. heck, they don't even have any for their own! i always try to park in the least prone dent spot i can find.
  15. But, he can at least write. He does have an actual argument. You on the other hand haven't been able to manage more than a childish insult here in 6 months. Do you have have thoughts beyond insults that you can share? I'll have you know I've been making childish comments much longer than 6 months! I have much better things to do(fun) than spend more than a moment(kinda fun) discussing absurd statements or rebuffing old wore out talking points from some hack.I'm a man of few words,I understand some people are full of em',that's fine, for them, just imagine what I'm thinkin',lol. It's a beautiful day to be alive,so off on the scoot, hopefully the world can do without my further commentary, for a while.........Have a great evening. yeah fish, you are so childish!![:'(] hehe!! don't you know that your intelligence is based on how many post you have made and how well you can sound like a neo-attorney?! 16. where is this TRUCKERS lobbyist group you speak of??
  17. owning the 7's and having heard both sets, i'd say you are right about the klf-20's being less fatiguing. the one thing the 7's need is very good equipment backing them up. if you can put a solid 200+ wpc to the 7's with a good processor, they will far surpass the ability of the 20's. that being said, i think lesser equipment sounds better on the 20's than the 7's. the klf's are just more forgiving. sometimes i wish i had bought them instead of my 7's. i'm just waiting until i buy a new pre-pro/amp combo before i put that in concrete...
  18. check out a burger joint named ed debevic's. great food and cool atmosphere. i'm not sure when they start, but every saturday during the summer there is a pretty good fireworks display from the navy pier. if you can, see them from a boat. very nice...
  19. I get the conserve part fully, and I agree, and I try to conserve. I am not so sure I get the "make them eat their oil" part? If political economics may be ultimately reduced to carrots and sticks, maybe the "make them eat their oil" part is a stick: threatening to adjust and fix the export price of food from the US in proportion to the price of oil. E X A C T L Y ! ! ! !
  20. i guess it's time to cheer on $5...
  21. just curious pyro, how does your new set-up sound compared to the rf's you had?
  22. go to dizzler.com and you can find anything you can think of to listen to. just do a search under 70's rock or whatever floats your boat!!
  23. bad thing is about ulsd is that the sulfur is the lubricating part for the fuel system. still the same ole smell too! $3.99 regular unleaded. $4.95 diesel. indiana.
  24. i went to the brown theatre in louisville kentucky last night to see a performance by a guy named tommy emmanuel. he is a acoustic guitarist is the most plain way i could say it. the web videos and cd's cannot do justice to the live performance, but i would give a listen if you are into the acoustic at all. it was a brilliant and amazing performance. this guy writes, plays, and sings like nobodys business. here is a link to one of the many videos online. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TX0eTp7SoNU&feature=related
