  1. You think he could block it off with some poly (plastic) as a temporary so it wont be such a pain the arse? I would think the bass would reflect off the poly? Dunno
  2. I'm wondering how much may be lost going up those stairs. Can you hear strong bass at top of stairs?
  3. Yep, it is the sign and only gets better. I find I like the fronts toed outwards to open the sound stage. I know some prefer toe-in but I can hear the 7ii just fine toe-out. They dont need to be aimed at the main listening area in my room. Of course, mileage may vary.
  4. Robert Plant can still deliver, wow. Like Sammy Hagar, he can still belt them notes out. I likes me some Pink Floyd Pulse too. I need to see if I can find Pulse on BD.
  5. I know what kind of distortion your talking about, at least I think I do. I havent experienced it yet with the 7ii thank goodness but I have heard that sound before. Thats why I asked so I could look out for it. OK. Next weekend will be Metallica Pour. Gadgt, glad to see ya get all the gear setup. That was quite the adventure. Wrong speaker, no power cord, etc. I have mine crossed over at 60 as well and like it. I still change to 80 every now and then just to see, but always seem to go back to 60.
  6. Ah, good point. Blu Ray Metallica is sending to all 5 channels.
  7. What kit do you have? You play live music? I gave up the live music and band scene due to wanting to live past 40 years old! LOL.
  8. So when that clipping was happening, was it noticeable right away? And real easy to tell? The best way I could describe it is like when I was a teenager and didnt know better (or care) and just turned the volume all the way up, was it like that king of clipping? Like the speakers sounded like a garbage disposal?
  9. Pearl Export with 6 toms and 2 bass drums. I still have a hard time keeping that double bass going!! Dang Metro, I didnt realize they would clip like that. Of course, thats some serious DB so I take that back, I aint the only one who listens loud. How much power does the 7009 have? And kind of a different scenario. I was mostly talking about low level receivers which that Marantz certainly isnt.
  10. I will stick with my Outlaw 7125 and sleep well knowing there aint no clipping happening over here!
  11. And if anybody is crazy enough to drive these speakers to high distortion/clipping, they deserve what they get. I just cant imagine anybody spending that kind of money on these speakers only to feed them with chitty receivers. Even the mid level AVR would get these speakers to crazy db's. So I guess if someone uses a low end, low power receiver it could happen but maybe that same person would run around in a lightning storm with a long metal pole in his hand raised high above his head and help thin the herd!
  12. Hell yeah crank them suckers up. Thats why we bought em. I must be in the minority as I listen loud, to both music and HT. As all of our hearing varies based on age, damage, abuse , genetics, or whatever, so for me, its hard to say I listen at a certain db consistently. It varies from source to source, song to song. To me the headroom is the safety net. No such thing as too much headroom and too much spare change!
  13. An old ad but maybe?? http://houston.craigslist.org/ele/4930156851.html
  14. Looks great man, good job. As I see this coming to shape, I find myself looking at my 7ii and trying to figure a way to get that center 7ii. Dang you!! LOL.
  15. I have the same Oppo as you except mine is not D. I put music on USB thumb drive and run into Oppo 103, then direct mode on receiver. It gives 2.1 in that mode and it simply rocks. And they are mostly MP 3.
  16. Naked RF 7ii cherry. Never get tired of seeing pics. Very nice! I'm glad you have matching twins now!
  17. Man, that looks like fun. Especially when your finished and enjoy the fruits of your labor knowing that you built it. Awesome.
  18. Makes the girls at closing time a lot prettier too!!
  19. Certainly not jaw dropping compared the RF7ii Center. I think my wife would go ahead and spontaneously combust if I were to mention a 4 ft wide center. She was kind a smoking when I got the RC64ii and the Lil Wrecker LOL. . Puts a new twist on smoking hot!
  20. I have my RF 7ii crossed over at 60 and it sounds great. I will swap it back to 80 sometimes and to me, it really depends on the source. 1 song might sound better at 60 but the next may be better at 80. But I listen to 2 channel via USB with Oppo 103 and all the songs are MP3. That may explain the difference. I am cheap, I get a lot of songs/MP 3 from You Tube. My sub isnt exactly a little monster, its the Lil Wrecker so maybe that has something to do with it too. Dunno.
  21. I have the luxury of having on hand an RC 7 and RC 64 ii. That RC 64ii is just so dang long it really makes it hard to fit it in. I think Metro is on the right path as if you are going with wide center, might as well make a DIY RF 7ii center to match the LR. The RC 64 ii is 35 and 3/4 inch wide. The RC 7 is 26 inches wide.
  22. That is 1 strange looking tube. What amp does that go in?????
  23. Palladium aint happening for me my friend but I sure do enjoy seeing your pics and comments about em. I see where you say they are fitting in after a little time. Sounds like the gift that keeps giving!
  24. I'm in same boat. In fact, I had to convince myself that due to my room, 5.1 is the best solution. My room just doesnt allow 7.1 or 9.1 etc. But, like they say, a properly setup 5.1 in a room not ideal for 7.1 sounds great.
  25. If you dont get the welded banana plugs, I bought these from Amazon and they have been the best ones I have ever used. They stay put, are very tight and with me being color blind, I can easily see which is positive/negative.
