  1. On my 78 Khorns I went from stock to a fresh Crites crossover. I noticed a subtle improvement in clarity and coherence. Then I went to a "Universal". THAT'S the ticket for me. Nice difference! I need to contact Bob about a pair of tweeters.
  2. How marvelous. I'd love to see and hear a pair of the 60th anniv. model. I understand they really do sound wonderful.
  3. You must be talking about that little shop on Royal near Brennan's, eh?
  4. Been a fan since about '66. Drove to OKC to see Mayall years ago. I'm thinking it was '70. He had the band with Harvey Mandel, Larry Taylor (!) and that great drummer...can't remember the name...one of his best bands ever. Opening was the then unknown Alice Cooper. He was utter histrionic crap. Perhaps he got better. When Mayall took the stage, he was steaming mad. He wanted the PA levels down, dammit, because we're going to make music, not that noise. They were superb. That was probably the last truly great large (non-symphony) concert I ever attended. Okay, I take that back. Weather Report at Jones Hall, Houston was great in '78.
  5. GREAT photos, fini! -------- HELP, CECIL, HELP! ----------- Ohhhh noooooo, it's the Master Cylinder!!!!!!
  6. Why not? Seems like a good solution but I'm unaware of what problems this can cause.
  7. ? The Klipschorns need to be in corners so wouldn't they either be 14' or 30' apart? (On center, natch) Cornwalls were originally designed as centers for Khorns, but they are no less imposing on a room than LaScala. Here's you a plan: Get your Klipschorns into their corners and leave well-enough alone for a month or two. She'll discover how little they impose on her LR and she'll enjoy arranging doodads on top of each one (get glass tops made while you're at it) and placing plants or other furnishings in front of the bass bins. If you already have a TV between them, placing either a Cornwall or LaScala thereas a "TV stand" will minimize the impact.
  8. Get 'em at Acme? Their chargrilled 'erstahs' are to DIE FOR!
  9. Ours is gone but it stayed on the ground for about 4 hours. We have a 5' snowman in the yard to show for it. Man, I need grandkids!
  10. I heard an interview with the police post-parade. The spokesman said there was not one incident of any kind, no arrests, no 911 calls, nothing. Certainly no burning cars or looting. (We got it out of our system during Katrina, eh?) []
  11. It's SNOWIN' LIKE HELL!! Big fat juicy flakes and I feel all GIDDY. [] Don, you in Prairieville?
  12. Thanks, Josh. It's hard to explain what has happened here. I don't think most New Orleanians knew how hard this would hit them emotionally. The conference championship was no less emotional and all these pent up feelings had no place to fully express until the parade. Now, we know how to do a parade, no doubt, but this was different. This was LOVE on a grand scale, two-way love. Fans to players/coaches/organization, and love right back at 'em. New Orleans is a friendly city, yes, but when I was downtown Tue. morning in miserable weather, all I got from strangers was big smiles and uncommon courtesy.
  13. While we're making corrections, dey ain't no medians in Nawlins, y'all. Dat dere is da Neutral Ground. Din'cha mama 'n dem tell you? (Thanks for great report. I heard a caller say that when the o-line players saw the chicken-on-a-stick vendor next to where he was standing, they started chanting "CHICKEN ON A STICK!" and then ambled off the float, grabbed a mess of the sticks and climbed back onto the float. Those o-linemen need their fuel, I guess.)
  14. True dat. He lives in the Quarter, so was as many blocks from the route as he lives 'into' the FQ. A short walk any way you look at it.
  15. When I turned off the radio last night at 10:30, WWL radio was reporting that all streets and roads around the CBD were still total gridlock. That's like 3 hours after the end of the parade? Amazing.
  16. Details folks, we need details. I've been hearing wildly varying counts on the crowd. We watched some of theTV coverage plus streaming video feed.
  17. Oh, errr [:$] I missed that. Quite right you are...and I thought I was a good crawfish eater.
  18. Sorry, I meant Michael, as in Coulter. I'm thinking he was treated warmly because of all that hair.
  19. [*-)] [8-)] [st] Cheer up, stormin. [8-|] Have a drink on me. [D] In the words of Saints fans though the years..."there's always next year." (And in the case of the Colts, next year looks mighty fine, right?)
  20. Michael, I love that you were treated so warmly. Not that I'm suprised. Did any of the gals 'ax' you to pinch da head & suck da tail?
  21. I think Peyton atoned for his snub at the subsequent news conference. Even with that lapse he is a first-class person and the Colts are a class team. I was downtown this morning for a few hours preparing a bid for work on the newly re-named "Benson Tower" overlooking the Superdome. Parade preps were everywhere. Coulter d'tels, this will be a great event; a humongous, mohanchis, Mothra-scaled parade. They've selected the best and biggest floats from 20 or so of the best Mardi Gras parades. They were moving them from Blaine Kern's vast warehouses this morning over to the 'Dome. They'll be joined by 15 local marching bands and seeded with a variety of typical parade regalia: flambeau carriers, horse units, second-liners and the like. BUNDLE UP!!! Oh, and PARKING WAS FREE this morning at the New Orleans Centre. How cool is that?
  22. My son was there Sunday. He watched the game at the R Bar in the Marigny neighborhood. Very cool place! He's got stories. Anyway, Andrew was on time for work Tuesday morning and looking none the worse for wear. Young people, eh?
  23. dtel & wife (an' you mama an' dem [] ), here's a neat you tube clip somebody posted from Rock & Bowl at the end of the game. Cheers and tears... http://www.wwltv.com/sports/black-and-gold/videos/Tears-smiles-flow-at-Rock-N-Bowl-83778277.html
  24. Paaaaleasssseeeee. But you did win the Superbowl. So Congrats for that. Really??? Then WHO is #1 if not the Saints? I'm confused.
