  1. If someone had stellar ebay feedback I might accept an off ebay paypal invoice. With ebay I've also read you are better protected versus a paypal only transaction (e.g. not linked to the auction). I haven't had any issues with either though.
  2. I'll be in Arlington, TX, so it's not too much of a drive for me. If only that center on ebay was natural and not merlot! He didn't put a reserve price, but I bet his buddy bids on it or he pulls the auction on the last day.
  3. I'll be in TX next month, so I asked him for his store name so I could check him out. I may buy some stuff from him in person if the price is right (and he doesn't sell stuff out of a white van)! No way would I purchase anything through a paypal invoice either.
  4. Thanks Zim! I saw that one, but need natural. That seller only has expresso and merlot what are the odds!?! I'm also too scared to deal with Audiogon unless the person has feedback, but I'd feel safe buying that item on ebay. Great price. Here are a few at $1300/make offer. http://app.audiogon.com/listings/full-range-klipsch-p-27-c-have-1-expresso-p-27-c-and-2-merlot-also-have-p27-s-in-2014-12-27-speakers-75068-lakewood-village-tx
  5. If you don't buy this speaker, could you please private message me the details so I can buy it? I'm not being funny, but just bought some used P-39f's and want a center channel. Thanks in advance!

    What I Got Today!

Thanks! If I move there permanently, I'll of course bring them. They are some of the best speakers I've ever heard after all! I'll have to sell my other stuff, but not for a few months so... I don't feel comfortable not having a 3-4 month emergency fund. Unfortunately, since I work 8 hours/day, I'll have ample time to use them. You're welcome to stop by and hear them though!

    What I Got Today!

Thanks! I have Billy to thank because he made it all possible. I never thought I'd own a pair to be honest...

    What I Got Today!

Nothing today. But I blew my wad yesterday... Just don't tell my wife!
  10. ATI AT2007: http://www.ati-amp.com/at2000.php It's made in the US and very clean sounding. It provides ample power even at low impedance, but has very low distortion at low power too. I originally got it to drive my RF-83's before I bought a used pair of LS II's. In retrospect, had I known the speakers I'd end up with I'd have sprung for the ATI AT3007. I think the AT2007 has plenty of power though considering a HT secrets review says a tube amp would work! The bass I'm hearing is simply incredible, as is the imaging and mid-range. These speakers have everything that I love about the LS II's, but with more mid-range detail and bass. Absolutely perfect sounding after running audyssey pro (I don't have room treatments like I should). The only thing I've heard that is comparable is the K-402 with the TAD 4002 drivers; they had a beautifully silk mid-range and unbelievable detail too. However those TAD drivers are $3499 a piece now and hard to find. Unfortunately, I have no room for K-402 horns on top my bass bins right now any ways
  11. Thanks for the kind words Billy. If anyone is thinking about buying Billy's amp or preamp, he is a very trustworthy and nice guy. Him and his wife were very accommodating, letting me come the same day and stay until 10pm listening. I heard the amp and preamp and they were silky smooth, even driving the P-39f's! No doubt they'd be a great combo for any of the heritage speakers. Too bad I didn't have the funds to buy them... Billy wiped me out on the other purchase I made!
  12. Mine arrived today. Even my wife notices the difference and likes it. I don't think it'd be as noticeable on a smaller screen, but on my 110" screen you can easily see the difference it makes.
  13. I meant if lightning strikes near my home or the nearby power lines. I don't see why it wouldn't protect against that? If it's a direct lightning strike on my main electrical service, everything is toast any ways... won't protect your stuff from a lightning strike.
  14. Dropped to $224, then went back to $227. Amazon's pricing is as bad as the stock market?!? I got suckered and ordered one of these glorified surge protectors for a second room. I highly doubt my home will ever be hit by lightning, but who knows?
  15. Another amazon deal: http://www.amazon.com/DarbeeVision-DVP-5000-Processor-Presence-Technology/dp/B00A2ORV5G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1419353968&sr=8-1&keywords=darbee+darblet+dvp5000 Price history: http://camelcamelcamel.com/DarbeeVision-DVP-5000-Processor-Presence-Technology/product/B00A2ORV5G Mine arrives Wednesday, so I'm holding off on watching movies until then. I briefly played with Darbee on a 105d and liked it. I'm going to guess DarbeeVision is going to offer a 4k version this year so they're closing out the current model?
  16. I was going to guess power conditioner, but then googled and found out I was close. Complete BS for sure! It's funny how most of these boutique audio shops operate. I lose total trust in their technical ability the second they try to sell $1000 speaker cables, etc... I'd feel very ripped off if I was a normal consumer and then later discovered a $2 monoprice cable sounds the same.
  17. EDIT: I think only Best Buy Magnolia stores carry this. So if you're in an area like mine, I think Amazon is your only choice. However, maybe you can chat online with BB and get them to price match and ship one to you?
  18. I'm not in the market for a power conditioner / surge protector, but noticed this one posted on AVS. http://www.amazon.com/Panamax-MR5100-Management-Protection-Conditioning/dp/B009WV8LC2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1419296639&sr=8-1&keywords=panamax+5100 This appears to be $100 off normal price, but is $200 off best buy's normal price. I would PM at best buy so you are sure you get a warranty as BB is an authorized dealer. Price history: http://camelcamelcamel.com/Panamax-MR5100-Management-Protection-Conditioning/product/B009WV8LC2 If you're paranoid and want to keep your gear safe, I would recommend a power conditioner. We all know brownouts do happen, but aren't that common (at least in my area). However, the posts online claiming better picture and sound when using a power conditioner are nonsense.
  19. One thing to try when you build your platform for the La Scala's is to center the mid-range horn at ear level to determine height. However, the drawback to this is if you ever add K-402 horns on top of them, the height will be off.
  20. Wow youthman, it looks like your theater is coming along! How're the dual subs treating you? Did it make a big difference in room response for you?
  21. For my setup and lack of room treatments, an Audyssey Pro kit and license had a much better improvement in sound than what the Oppo 105d provided. However, if you're disk free too and end up owning the Oppo, I would definitely check out this guy on ebay. This is the firmware I wanted to try when I auditioned the 105d, but it did not yet support iso files and cinavia removal (it does now, but I haven't personally tested it). I have no affiliation with the ebay guy (and don't speak mandarin), so buy at your own risk PS: if you want to try the Oppo and not pay shipping, give Crutchfield a try instead of amazon. They have a no risk 60 day return policy. I normally don't buy anything from them due to price, but the Oppo price doesn't change much. I tried the Oppo 105d out for a while and had no problem returning it. The player has amazing build quality, and was very impressive, but bypassing room correction didn't make sense for me.
  22. The Oppo 105D would let you play multi-channel DSD files via a USB stick/hard drive/network, and output via 2 or 7.1 analog outs. I tried the Oppo briefly and really liked it. As a stand alone preamp, the sound was incredible too (as are the specs). The only reasons I didn't keep it was: I have all of my movies on my PC so I don't have to get up to put a disc in. The Darbee video looked awesome though. I was very impressed with how it made blurays look on my system and want to add a Darbee add-on controller now. To really use the 105D's preamp and DAC features meant bypassing Audyssey room correction, and this was the real deal killer for me. Cost. The darn thing is expensive, but a great deal if you want a preamp + disc player + DAC.
  23. I've played several DSD files through foobar 2000 and it does use PCM out, but sounds great to me. Since you're using optical out, you may want to consider using HDMI for more bandwidth so that you can enjoy DSD multi-channel files too (via multi-channel PCM at 96khz or 192khz). If you want a good USB DAC, some of the Oppo players such as the 105D can accept DSD directly (via USB) but only for stereo. However, if you're going to buy the Oppo why not just let it play the DSD/DSF files directly over the network...I believe then you could enjoy multi-channel DSF files too...
  24. Buy my LS II's for $11999 and I'll definitely order some jubs... I do plan on buying a few K-402 horns to go on top my LS II bass bins in the near future (even though I'll have to switch rooms around to fit them). I'm picking up a DX-38 this week. Too bad there's a 4-6 week lead time on K-402's. Planning on a jump to Jubilees with a beauty panel??? Roger
